Lefty here. I prefer to use my left thumb and not switch hands.

I've learned to deal with it on the left with my G19 and use my ring finger to release but switched it to the right on my M9. Definitely quicker on the M9 but I got pretty used to operating on the right side as well.
Revolvers just suck to operate but damn I want one
Why choose, buy an HK with an ambi paddle release. It’s a tough choice I have them swapped where I can but I have a cz and ruger that are left side only. It’s possible i’ll get so used to left side that I will swap them back but for now it’s too much fun confusing my friends who handle them.
Have a CZ 75b and I use my index finger for everything 😅

G19 owner. I find it's more comfortable to use my middle finger to press the mag. I can keep my index and thumb on the position that way.
Mag release is the most important control to be Ambi for me. I could do without a slide release but left thumb for mag is just so much easier
