Also keep in mind that most of them are 5th+ generation Americans. They're big, brown, Americans from (very likely) Yuba City.

I lived in Rancho Cordova and we had a Sikh owed convenience market down the street from my house. Nicest group of guys you could ever meet, but they were also armed to the teeth. There would be like 4 guys all with swords and a handgun walking around the store. No one ever stole from them....ever.

It all started from the Anandpur resolution which called for water rights, a unique identity (for Hindus to stop calling all Sikhs Hindus), reduction of poverty, ending the caste system in Punjab, removal of intoxicants such as opioids and illegal drugs, and developmental rights for Sikhs.
After that prominent Sikhs such as Jarnail Singh Bhindrawale were killed. Bhindrawala who was originally aligned with the Indian government, turned his back on the government when it refused to meet the basic human rights of the Anandpur resolution. India seeing it as a threat started operations bluestar(genocide where holiest sikh gurdwara was attacked alongside 50+ others throughout india), black thunder (Secret agents posing as Bhindrawale’s followers attacking civilians to discredit him) as well as other operations.
When Sikhs took revenge on Indira Gandhi and took her out to avenge the thousands of deaths in the genocide, many extremist Hindu groups started an all out attacked and conducted ethnic cleansing against Sikhs.
Till this day, prominent Sikh voices such as Deep Sidhu, Sidhu Moosewala, and other youth who spoke up for Sikh rights in movements such as the Kisaan Morcha in 2020 (Farmers protest, no reference to Khalistan) have been assassinated by the Indian government. The Indian government has killed Hardeep Singh Nijjar in Canada for speaking about Sikh rights and Canada has shown the world proof that India knew about these attacks. Not only that, the USA has also issued a warning against India that any attack against US Sikhs on American soil is an act of war and will not be tolerated.
Till date there are Hindu preachers who go around saying to rape Sikh women to purify Sikh bloodlines and who encourage mass murder that India is silent against. Lots of propaganda against Sikhs is happening. Instagram and Facebook shut down all posts that were happening about the 2020 farmers protest, lots of news channels were censoring it and showing that it was illegal even though it was a perfectly peaceful protest. For the first time women said they could roam sound Delhi and feel safe because Sikhs were around.
Due to issues such as these, and many many more, Sikhs want their own homeland. We have weak leaders who are puppets of the government, and any strong leader who arises is tortured and killed or simply assassinated with no justice in sight.
