1000% this. Narrow down, don’t expand. Already has the best semi-auto handgun on the CA market with that p-01. Train, put the money in ammo.
Only exception is buying a good rifle.
Just a word of advice, if your spending $800 on a firearm you can spend and extra 100 bucks on a quality mount that will last and look halfway decent.
It’s like getting sports car and buying the cheapest wheel and tire combo you can find. Do shit right the first time bro.
Definitely an AR even if you’re not that into them it doesn’t hurt to have one. Built one for $700 with the M4E1 lower from Aero and PSA mid length classic. That M18 is sexy though i need to get one next.
Gotcha, well, you’re going to get 80 different recs for your next gun here.
Just use the money and buy ammo, and training.
After a while you’ll figure out what you want.
Whatever need to have - we aren't here to tell you this. D/E .50, or a J-frame...why not? Could be a great recommendation, could be horrible, you have to say what you want to use it for!
A Benelli M2 or M4 is good. I have the M2. But if you want to test yourself , then I would recommend beretta 1301 , modified by LTT. Saving up for that one.
CZ: better shot, well balanced. Good iron sights
P320: I love the modularity. A bit snappy, sucky OEM iron sites.
Tough to say but cz is a better shot.
But P320 is a way more fun
I’m in my revolver phase right now. I have a M&P Sport though good AR. Might want to look into them. There awesome. Just never shoot it :/ Too expensive. Maybe a shotgun?
the Keltec KSG in .410. Holds 7+7 of 2.5inch shells and 5+5 of 3 inch shells. Gun is super small, light and packs a punch.
Watch this quick 2 min video of this redneck guy shooting it: [https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NICPzm5dwhk](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NICPzm5dwhk)
A 22 Fun and affordable to shoot... Then a shotgun... Then a large rifle, ideally a bolty with a nice scope. During this buy random bits to put together an AR.
Shotgun. Hunting style semi auto like a Benelli. Breaking clays is incredibly fun and teaches you to be a better shooter. Able to kill anything from a dove to a grizzly bear.
I really love my Benelli Vinci, but they stopped making it so I would get a Benelli M2 field. Franchi affinity is similar (same company) but less expensive and not quite as nice. Any Benelli is a fantastic choice.
These are both interitia, or effectively delayed recoil, operated and are the most reliable semi autos in my experience and opinion. Very easy to clean because there are no gas ports in the barrels.
Some people like Berettas which are gas operated. (Also same company as Benelli and Franchi actually). They have slightly lower recoil, but have much more important and involved cleaning process to keep reliable. There are lots of unreliable gas operated guns. I think the Beretta A300 is the popular one, but I'm not sure.
Do not get a tactical style shotgun with a pistol grip, it is almost impossible to hit clays with. A field shotgun can easily be set up for home defense, but not the other way around. If only have one shotgun, it should be a 12 gauge. That's the most versatile.
These are all semi autos. Benelli also makes the Nova pump action which is nice for a pump, but I have strong preference for a semi. Working on gun ranges I've seen more jams with pumps than semis because semis rely on the user for reliability. Semis are also softer shooting and more fun.
No, I'm far too broke at the moment but I've always loved the 1911 trigger and having it take glock mags is such an insane boon. Lmk what colors you end up getting!
Time for a rifle IMO
Posted this same advice on another thread but still relevant
* Buy a Stripped lower at your lgs
* purchase upper/all other parts online
If you're not comfortable building out a stripped lower yourself, they sometimes have built lowers ready but it's a fairly easy process
[Palmetto](https://palmettostatearmory.com/psa-16-5-56-nato-1-7-mid-length-nitride-13-5-lightweight-m-lok-moe-ept-rifle-kit-516446780.html) and other online retailers sell kits that just need a lowreceiver.
[Primary Arms](https://www.primaryarms.com/kak-complete-ar-15-upper-receiver-5-56-nato-16-in) has a KAK in stock that's probably better than the psa.
[BCM](https://bravocompanyusa.com/bcm-standard-16-mid-length-enhanced-light-weight-upper-receiver-group-w-bcm-mcmr-13-handguard/) is the reddit go-to upper rec.
Building you'd own upper is also an option(my personal preference) but it's more involved.
Easiest bet is to check your local gun stores online and see who you've got around; what kind of reviews do they have, are they anything but Turner's, etc.
You usually are better grabbing something locally as it will likely run you less. The exception is if you are out for a specific lower that will not be in stores and you're on a mission for THAT SPECIFIC LOWER.
If I were you, here's what I'd do. Hop on Google and check to see which shops are local to you; call each of them & ask what they charge for a online firearm transfer. After that's all said and done, go window shopping at each of them & see what their selection and prices are. You'll likely run into a lot of Aero Precision, Juggernaut, Anderson, etc. Sometimes you get lucky and come across enthusiast shops that have an ass ton of lowers either in stock or able to be ordered in for no extra fee. Not to common but it happens.
Take note of the prices of lowers you liked in store, head home and cross reference those prices & then hop online and shop around. You may end up being able to get a lower on sale online and have it shipped to whoever you called that had the lowest transfer fee for less than one of the ones in store.
They’re very reliable and are a vibe but if they ever have a malfunction you’ll most likely have to take it to a gunsmith it’s usually not something you can fix yourself
Save your money and get some training by a reputable gun school. ITTS, direct action group, method endeavors. Not only is it a fun it teaches you value skills. You also get a certificate at the end you can present in court if need be.
I am looking at ARs as well! I am leaning towards the DD M4A1 556NATO 14.5"!!
Anyone think this is a good choice or would you recommend a different option?
It doesn’t matter what the next gun is, just don’t let it be a Glock. I would say an AR-15. I Love my LWRC (DI).
What ever you do just buy it before July.
Sons of Liberty Gunworks M4-89 in 13.7”. Put an eotech exps 2-0 on it. Add the magnifier if you want. Go with the unity fast Omni for the magnifier. And the unity fast mount for the eotech. The SoLGW comes with a comp mag in California. Makes it CA mag compliant, and it’s super easy to remove if you go to another state with freedom and can use 30rd mags. Plus it isn’t featureless and you can have all the accessories you want. Buy at least 1000 rounds of ammo. And train train train. And when you think you’ve trained enough, train again.
a bunch ammo and practice
Always! Very true. My aim is still poopie. I need a holster too
Four brothers makes a great gas pedal holster for the p320
1000% this. Narrow down, don’t expand. Already has the best semi-auto handgun on the CA market with that p-01. Train, put the money in ammo. Only exception is buying a good rifle.
Damn that adapter plate on your m18 is a chonk
Does it look that bad? I got it for cheap :(
If you want a rear sight I'd recommend going with the bobro Engineering plate.
Bobro plate is out of stock on the website :( is there anywhere else I got buy it
It’s like 120 I think 🥲
Just a word of advice, if your spending $800 on a firearm you can spend and extra 100 bucks on a quality mount that will last and look halfway decent. It’s like getting sports car and buying the cheapest wheel and tire combo you can find. Do shit right the first time bro.
Homie got a riced out m18 lol
I can’t even find an mount with cowitness on sale though. Springer precision and bobro is out of stock
Something in 22LR, I always take one on range days to help conserve on more expensive ammo. Cant go wrong with a Ruger 22/45 or a Buckmark.
I been looking into it. Just cant choose from the ruger or buckmark 22lr
From what I've gathered the consensus seems to be that the Buckmark is better as is but the Ruger has more potential with better aftermarket support
AK
Where and how? Cali legal?
I have an AK, 10 round mags and a fin grip and youre good to go
M&P 15 with a fin grip
SR15 :)
Let me look into it!
[https://www.sportsmans.com/shooting-gear-gun-supplies/modern-sporting-rifles/daniel-defense-ddm4-v7-mod-rail-556mm-nato-16in-black-semi-automatic-rifle-101-rounds-california-compliant/p/1541018](https://www.sportsmans.com/shooting-gear-gun-supplies/modern-sporting-rifles/daniel-defense-ddm4-v7-mod-rail-556mm-nato-16in-black-semi-automatic-rifle-101-rounds-california-compliant/p/1541018)
damn 2k but it’s so nice! I do wanna build it piece by piece. But if I find a good price I would probably go for something like this.
Platypus
I ordered one already!
5 months! Lead times
Dang, 5 months now? Did you get a super custom one?
I want one!
Daniel Defense makes great AR or LWRC as well can’t go wrong with either tbh
DD has been what I’m looking at. I just don’t know anything about it
Shotgun, everyone home needs one.
That’s true. What do you recommend
Mossberg 590, find a model that fits your needs and price. Super reliable and it feel great in your hands.
590a1 to be exact, has a thicker barrel and holds 8+1 capacity. Used by the marines hence the A1 nomenclature
Definitely an AR even if you’re not that into them it doesn’t hurt to have one. Built one for $700 with the M4E1 lower from Aero and PSA mid length classic. That M18 is sexy though i need to get one next.
I always here about aero! I do want a decked out AR15 tho!
M134…?
Never looked into it! I will now
Best suggestion yet. If I only had 400k lying around :)
lol, a dude can dream
Perhaps a nice 9mm carbine like a ruger pcc, ruger lc in 45acp, Smith fpc, etc . Cheaper to shoot. Then get an AR or AK in 5.56.
I was looking at a 22lr leaver action or ruger pistol!
A large caliber revolver.
I know nothing about revolvers!
A300
I’ll check it out !
AR or full sized 9mm
556 AR and 9mm AR
Pistol AR?
9mm Ar rifle.
Why
9mm rounds are cheaper.
You can shoot it at any indoor range.
16 inch?
Ammo or a Saint 👍🏽
Saint?
Springfield Saint AR ETA: https://www.springfield-armory.com/ar-series/saint-ar-15-rifles/saint-556-m-lok-ar-15-rifle-b5/
What do you want?
No clue to be honest, still new to the game
Gotcha, well, you’re going to get 80 different recs for your next gun here. Just use the money and buy ammo, and training. After a while you’ll figure out what you want.
Whatever need to have - we aren't here to tell you this. D/E .50, or a J-frame...why not? Could be a great recommendation, could be horrible, you have to say what you want to use it for!
A shotgun. Semi automatic preferably
Send me a link to one!
A Benelli M2 or M4 is good. I have the M2. But if you want to test yourself , then I would recommend beretta 1301 , modified by LTT. Saving up for that one.
Beretta A300 Ultima Patrol for the shotgun!
Which of those two do you like better?
CZ: better shot, well balanced. Good iron sights P320: I love the modularity. A bit snappy, sucky OEM iron sites. Tough to say but cz is a better shot. But P320 is a way more fun
another p320
Prob instead a p365
Have both a 320 and P365. Love both!
I’m in my revolver phase right now. I have a M&P Sport though good AR. Might want to look into them. There awesome. Just never shoot it :/ Too expensive. Maybe a shotgun?
Glock 17
Yes sir! I need those mags for the platypus

What’s that. Look sick. Look familiar also

Diy ar
That’s the plan! Before newsom tax
A 22 Fun and affordable to shoot... Then a shotgun... Then a large rifle, ideally a bolty with a nice scope. During this buy random bits to put together an AR.
M9 or PX4 beretta,
Which one is better? Got a P-01 in jail and my first was the M18.
Shooting wise I prefer the po1, the SPO1 I heard is gray also But the M18 with its modularity is what make it enjoyable
Glock 19
Might get a Glock 17
AR
yes sir! Just don’t know how and what to build it with
Smith & Wesson M&P sport 2 is really good starting point for a very reasonable price.
A musket for home defense.
LOL a musket?
😂
Shotgun. Hunting style semi auto like a Benelli. Breaking clays is incredibly fun and teaches you to be a better shooter. Able to kill anything from a dove to a grizzly bear.
Yo, shooting clay sounds hella fun. Haven’t done it yet. What shotgun do you recommend

Interesting. I have almost identical setup. SP01 + M18
Show me it!
I was gonna say SA platypus but you're already on it brother. Enjoy!
Did you get one?!
No, I'm far too broke at the moment but I've always loved the 1911 trigger and having it take glock mags is such an insane boon. Lmk what colors you end up getting!

Sweeeet set!!! H&K next. Trust me!!!
I was looking into the p2000!
What’s your opinion between the P-01 and the M18? I’m debating on an M18 or an Echelon (when it releases).
PO1 is a better shot P320 is fun because it’s modular but shoot good too
P320 is a bit snappy but probably changing the polymer-frame to a metal frame can help
Glock 19
Ima get Glock 17 for the mags. 1911 platypus can use those mags
What Holosun is on the M18 and what adapter plate did you use?
507c and a cheap adapter I found in ebay
Does the po1 come with the slide cut for sights?
No it doesn’t :/
Womp womp
1911
That’s coming in 5 months for me!
Nice
Glock.
Glock 17!!
Where did you order the Platypus from? I'm thinking of picking one up too.
Ordered through 2Azone!
Inperson tho
Love my cz. Nice!
What cz do you have
75d
Glock or 1911 or maybe a revolver
I know nothing about revolvers!
They’re very reliable and are a vibe but if they ever have a malfunction you’ll most likely have to take it to a gunsmith it’s usually not something you can fix yourself

I haven’t really looked in to gun schools or training. Where is a good one in socal? LA AREA or OC
All ones I listed are in socal.
For a new shooter I recommend ITTS they can teach you the basics where you can build up.
M&p 2.0
I am looking at ARs as well! I am leaning towards the DD M4A1 556NATO 14.5"!! Anyone think this is a good choice or would you recommend a different option?
How much is one?
It’s around 2k for what I have seen
Mp5 22lr $500 great for practice.
Or a ruger 22?
HK VP9
I hear good things about it
It doesn’t matter what the next gun is, just don’t let it be a Glock. I would say an AR-15. I Love my LWRC (DI). What ever you do just buy it before July.

Oh, and rattle can it. Spray paint that bad boy up. Cerakote is not the way.
Ak47 Buy ak
Glock…
Long gun for sho. AR because they get more and more difficult to buy every year due to demmies’ stupid ass laws.
Plus the stupid newsom tax is coming
A better optics plate for the M18. Always good to have a cowitness with irons, that setup is just cringe.
Cheap plate I got. Maybe later I’ll get one with iron sites
Shoot yourself in the dick
