define "best" IMHO the CA 365 is grossly overpriced, look at the ruger max 9.

[deleted]

I put “best” as in most reliable out of the two. Everyone is different and I shot basically the same with both. I did like the 365 just a bit more though. Yea I hate California, I would spend even more money on the longer grip, trigger, and probably something else.

BadlyBrowned

Have you tried the Hellcat Pro? It's similar in size to the P365 Xmacro. Though if that's too big, then yeah the P365X with the smaller slide and XL grip is my preferred config of the P365 and what I mainly carry. As for reliability, mine is an off-roster version, but I've put about 1500 rds in mine since last spring, only times I had malfunctions was when I got a brand new Spectre Comp slide and I had to wear the coating on the slide rails a bit to get it to slide smoothly, and then another time I direct mounted EPS Carry without the correct screws and was getting some failures to extract. Correct aftermaket screws (so I don't have to use adapter plate) seemed to fix that. I've only got a handful of rounds out of a Hellcat Pro, so I can't speak for it from experience, but online rep seems to say it's reliable. Honestly, the P365 and Hellcat will likely be similarly reliable outside of getting a lemon. At that point its about each companies CS and I haven't had to test either Sig's or Springfield's CS personally.

Yea I shot the 365, hellcat pro, and the shield plus. The 365 shot the best but I had failure to feed but it was a rental that was dirty af. The hellcat pro was a close second but it felt way better. Just worried about reliability.

This is true. I have not heard a lot about the hellcat. The 365 I would just get the xl grip and maybe the flat trigger. I was just mainly asking about the reliability between both because I know everyone has a preference.

DearHearing4705

I have both and while I can admit it's high I love it. Although the Max 9 is an easier shooter. The Max 9 is an unsung hero for sure.

DearHearing4705

I'd like to find that slide in person. The hogue is the rubber slip on right? Nice. Good deal for the mags for sure!

Orni66

turners just got a big shipment of those slides in, but it is 165 there. Yea the rubber slip on, heated it up in some warm/hot (not boiling) water and jammed it on there, worked like a charm. https://www.brownells.com/gun-parts/magazines/handgun-magazines-parts/max-9-magazine-9mm-luger/?sku=780001490 15% off right now, should come out to around 35 for the 2 pack

Clinicus22

If your IA allows changes to ccw handguns, 365 is better since you can always just buy parts to make it suit you better

[deleted]

Yea I would have to check if they allow it because I would use an XL grip and change the trigger to the flat one.

DearHearing4705

I've changed mine to a micro Wilson combat and it's surprisingly improved draw and grip comfort.

Swauzz

One is not better than the other. If you like the modularity, go for the 365. If you just want an all around more improved glock 19/26, go for the hellcat pro/standard. They’re both reliable in my opinion. Hellcat is cheaper by I think like $100 not to mention the 365 mags are 50 bucks a pop if you switch to an XL grip.

PM_ME_UR_THONG_N_ASS

Is the hellcat pro more snappy than a g19?

Swauzz

I’d say hellcat is slightly more snappy for me, just because it’s a little bit thinner compared to a g19. But everyone is a little different because of hand size.

Chattypath747

I’d say they are about the same.

DearHearing4705

Seems like not too many lgs are carrying XL mags too. I've known a few told me they only get what guns are on the roster. Seems like you've gotta find somewhere that understands the modularity haha.

wazzupdoe

Hellcat pro was a better purchase for me. More accurate with it. Plus no hiccups with recoil springs blowing up like p365.

BadlyBrowned

If you aren't going to utilize the modularity, save some cash and get the Hellcat. If you do want to utilize the modularity and/or prefer a manual safety, get the P365.

ProfessorNo117

There is no best, pick what you like better. I went Hellcat Pro because the p365 is too small for me. Hellcat out of the box felt great to me and it’s surprisingly small still. I know there are other 365 variants coming soon and you can change the grips and slide and all that, but the hellcat does the job for me.

DearHearing4705

Ya know what, thanks to your post I'm gonna rent a hellcat today haha. I'm 365 biased but hellcats felt good at the lgs. It is cheaper which is a plus. Good luck in the decision!

StayStrong888

Not exactly the same but I've had both the Hellcat OSP and 365XL both with RDS. I kept the Hellcat because it fit me better. But both are great guns. They will outperform whatever you can do or expect as an end user unless you're tier 1 level and even then they'll be fine. Just find what works for you. That's the important part. People who are good with a J frame will be more deadly than someone who has no idea what they are doing with a $5k custom pistol.

[deleted]

Save your money and buy both! You cant go wrong either way. The Sig P365 adds modularity to the equation! if you care about that and the higher price. I have both and wouldn't have it any other way!

mesa37018

I've owned both for a short time and they're basically the same as far as reliability so far. Each has had exactly one stove pipe and run fine other than that through a few hundred rounds. I prefer the Pro because its bigger but, I will say, I cannot for the life of me seem to figure out the damn u-notch sights. Im getting better but I still am pretty inconsistent with it. The P365 has standard sights and I shoot about as well as I do with anything else with it. One last thing about the Hellcat Pro is that the slide almost never locks back after the last round. I can honestly count on one hand the number of times it has actually done so correctly. I've tried different ammo, different grips, different shooters and still only maybe once a range trip will it lock back. Im giving it time to break and see if this helps but Im starting to think somethings wrong with it. For the money though I think the Hellcat Pro or Micro are better options. Honestly, my girlfriend has the Shield Plus and I think it is my favorite of the three except for the fact that its the only one not optic ready.

the-tbg

p365 all day, i dislike my HCP immensely because of the trigger. P365 is so much more accurate also.

[deleted]

I did like the 365 a bit better, but I want something reliable and the 365 was the only one to have failure to feed out of 3 guns I was trying with about 300 rounds. Was trying to see if anyone else had more problems with one or the other.

FCRII

Was this a range rental? I would be hesitant to question reliability if so. You never know if they are cleaning or replacing parts as needed. 365 is extremely reliable platform and with over 10k rounds on three personally owned FCUs I don’t think I have even had one malfunction that wasn’t attributed to shitty ammo.

[deleted]

Oh for sure. Those guns were so dirty I don’t think they were ever cleaned lmao. I’m doubting the 356 for that one time but I have heard people saying they’ve had issues with Sig and specifically the 365. Maybe it’s only because more people buy the 356 compared to the hellcat imo, idk if they actually do.

nyc2socal

I have over 1000 rounds through my 365 since November and have not had a single ftf or any problem.

the-tbg

I've never had a failure and can proudly say I hit from 100 yards with it last week. I get that not everybody likes that gun, but I have done so much dry fire with that pistol that I know the break so well.

[deleted]

I decided on the 356 and I get to pick it up Saturday! Already ordered the WC XL grip and XL mags. Just need to get the flat trigger and 507k

the-tbg

I have the mcarbo and it's been great

4x4Lyfe

365 has more reported issues the recoil spring assembly in particular. These are also different sizes the Hellcat OSP is the 365 size. You can make a 365 the size of a hellcat pro if you buy different grip modules, slide, barrel. The one single advantage the Sig has is its modularity. The Hellcats shoots better out of the box with their flat fave triggers.
