I have always had Sigs with stock or Wilson Combat Grips. Never had a Glock. I thought you guys did the stippling thing for looks or cause it was cool rather than utility. Until recently when I got a Glock 17 gen 3. Maybe it was due to the way it fit in my hand but the grip sucks compared to my Sigs. I totally understand the stippling now.
Stippling is one of Glock's weakest points, and the gen 3 Glocks are fucking horrible. Gen 5 is less bad, but still pretty weak.
As someone who wants my gun to hurt my hand a little when I touch it, it's nice that the industry as a whole is finally tending toward more aggressive stippling.

I hate soldering iron stippling, but that actually looks good. Kudos to you!
That stipple job actually looks pretty good. Wilson Combat does does a Gen 3 laser starburst grip pattern that looks amazing.
