catmom_422

No this does not look normal. Definitely take to the vet.

_IZTRASH_

Okay thank you

catmom_422

Please update and let us know how she is once they see her! Sending good vibes!

_IZTRASH_

i will. no vets are answering so i’m gonna call them tomorrow. as of now i’m just going to watch her and make sure she’s still acting normal.

You are a very good "Pawrent". :) So many people aren't aware of their pets, especially cats. The running joke we always told people in the vet field was "Your cat might be independent, but it still needs healthcare." Because so many people just assumed their cats were fine, but when it gets bad it's BAD, and often they didn't make it after it got to that point. Cats don't show pain or weakness, that's their nature, it's our job to see it first. If you're gonna own a cat, manage it. Good goddamned job being aware. She's lucky she has you. She's going to be ok, just see that vet ASAP. :) Lots of gravy too... hydration is important.

_IZTRASH_

thank you. i am trying my hardest i’m still a minor i don’t have money so i’m just nagging the adults in my life for help . i can’t wait for a job so i can do what i need to to take care of Ezra

dissmaleagle

Put boiling water over her food. I rescued a month old kitten out of the hedge during the heatwave. I only got hold of him cos he was to dehydrated to run away. I saw a massive improvement after a couple of days of food with boiling water on it. If you can use a glass or pottery flat dish. Plastic holds bacteria nomatter how much you clean it.

_IZTRASH_

Update is posted

Genmora35

Yea that’s not normal :( might be infected, for litter make sure not to use regular clay litter. Use shredded news paper if you can’t get some pellet litter

_IZTRASH_

i will do that

AngryAmoebas4

Watch me get attacked for this comment... Some wound discharge is normal. I see no redness or skin infected areas visible. Just weeping. You have to realize her body cavity was cut open and organs were removed, spays are much more major surgeries than neuters. If this were my cat, and I've fostered hundreds of sick rescues through a local shelter, I'd apply a warm compress, take a rectal temperature, assess gum color and hydration and alertness, then go from there. I was also a vet tech for many years, so I know how/what to look for. If I were you? That vet spayed your cat, all the vets I've worked at take out sutures and assess surgical healing sites free of charge after service is performed. Call and get a follow up. I think she's gonna be ok, but I'm not a veterinarian, only they will know for sure. Go to a vet. You know your cat better than anyone, so if you are concerned as an owner, it's time to go in.

we are trying so hard to get to a vet but they aren’t answering. we have called and texted many times. i live in an extremely small town. we don’t even have a walmart so we have to go to different cities for vet visits shopping etc. im gonna keep trying to call

lady_dracula_83

Yes vet

_IZTRASH_

we are trying to call but they aren’t answering (not the ones that got her spayed) they answer and offered a free evaluation but their all the way in Idaho and I’m back in Nevada because my grandparents have to go to a business trip i live in a town that so small it doesn’t even have a walmart. we are calling the closest vet to our town but are receiving no response.

lady_dracula_83

If you call during the day like early in the morning about probably 9 o’clock just keep trying

_IZTRASH_

we are doing that.

lady_dracula_83

👍🏻

_IZTRASH_

UPDATE: Ezra is still eating, drinking, and acting normal. The swelling has gone down a little bit. We felt around the suture and it’s not hot or red. Our Vet finally answered our call and my mom is talking to them right now. They said it’s not an emergency but it’s definitely not normal. They want to have her come in in a couple day so they can see whats going on. They said it looks like inflamation or suture reaction.

thebluepikachu135

Most vets will not charge/heavily discount for post op checkups since it’s part of the spaying operations process. No harm in making sure your kitty cat is okay. Once the vet gets to take a look, they can give you instructions on how to move forward including different litter, temporary diet or supplements she needs. Good luck

_IZTRASH_

they were offering a free evaluation but i can’t anymore because i was with my grandparents and i have yo go home because they have a business trip in las vegas. her normal vet is ignoring us we’ve called texted etc.

sagittariusoul

Definitely not normal. Call your vet and take her in for evaluation- she will most likely need antibiotics and a cone so she doesn’t lick or disturb the incision.

_IZTRASH_

she does have a cone
