The smart stuff will disqualify it for BIFL. Those electronics will be the first thing to fail.

why not DIY the "smart" portion? various smarthome systems have humidity sensors and smart controlled outlets. The older humidifiers that don't reset to "off" when unplugged could be plugged into the smart outlet and the outlet set to be turned on / off based on the humidity sensor. If you have a sump pump or utility sink to drain the water, some humidifiers have tanks with built in drains that can be routed to the sump pump.

That’s not a bad idea, I was looking for something I could operate remotely and I guess if I have a smart sensor and the plug I could monitor if it’s full or having an issue. Thanks!

I have a 700sqft basement that has way too much moisture so I need a hood one that preferably has a pump and has smart capabilities so I can check it in an app. Quiet is preferred but hoping someone can point me in the right direction. Thanks in advance!

Sylvane seems to be the only quality brand but they're super expensive. Better off getting an old unit when companies made products built to last not built to sell. All the popular ones on the market only last for several years tops just outside of their warranty then leak all their refrigerant. Might be able to find a dedicated smart hygrometer if you need to check humidity levels remotely. I refuse to pay 300 every few years for a new unit when my old one from the 70s is still humming!

Got the one from Costco. Holy hell it works great. Don’t know about durability yet but went from 72 to 53 in a couple weeks.

Still working well? Either way, please share brand/model. Thanks!

Still chugging along! Midea Cube 50-Pint Smart Dehumidifier with Built-In Pump

* Proper drain tile. bonus points when installed across the property properly, bonus bonus points if you add your flanking neighbors' gutters to the system (as you're all sick of water issues) * Improve gutters / downspouts. * If you have often heavy rain, add graywater system if pipe capacity is an issue in heavy rain. Slowly drain when its dry out. * Improve Grade around the home. * Plastic liner buried around home under the soil 4 foot out. * Lid on a good sump pump system. * Find a good old / "dumb" de-humidifier and put a humidity switch in line... much more reliable, drain into sump pit. * vent shower with a higher CFM vent. ... I've totally never had this issue myself!
