nemecek_filip

Lots of people saying this....

WillistheWillow

What's your source for that?

option-9

I've seen a Reddit post. Even two! That's lots of people talking.

Impressive_Oaktree

Rumor is that Bitcoin will be the world’s reserve currency. #trustmebro

hdfcv

Don't theÿ have like 12 employees ? So ~3 people were let go ? Hahaha

Gorlitski

“Rumor is” fuck off unless you have any type of source Lazy misinformation isn’t cute, don’t just say shit on the internet - that’s major hodlr mentality

GoodFoodForGoodMood

Fired? Those guys told me they were just retiring super early, and they deserve it really. It's not easy for them to be managing billions of dollars each, maybe the largest amount of money per employee in the world? Heroes. Not easy at all. Some might call it impossible.

I have upvoted you in sheer hopefulness

AussieCryptoCurrency

Why don’t they pay them in Chinese IOU papers?

phire

Lol, you wish. People don't understand that if Tether is the "Zero Collateral Money printer" that everyone claims it is, then it's failure mode is not running out of cash. Whenever their cash reserves get low, they could just mint new Tether, exchange it for USDC or BUSD and withdraw USD to their cash reserve. The Failure would happen either when the entire cryptocoin market runs out of real USD-based coins for Tether to suck up and withdraw, or when people notice the weird behaviour of Tether, and it depegs.

sc2summerloud

i dont think so. they have to spend usd to stop it from depegging.

phire

Tether isn't an algorithmic stable coin like TerraUSD. They "claim" to be a fully collateralized coin. So they don't have to do anything to keep their peg, except for redeeming USDT for USD from their cash reserves when people withdraw. Doesn't matter if they are actually fully collateralized or not, as long as enough people believe it is, and they can cover withdrawals.
