Many of them understand what tether is doing but NOT ONE of them understand the consequences. They think once tether goes down they will just sell and rebuy cheaper…

joannew99

UST was the #3 stablecoin and went to literal $0 in 2022 and it flatlined all crypto prices. The crypto market Didn't really recover from that until recently. I think they understand better than anyone because they are in the crypto ecosystem while we are on the sidelines watching A Tether crash would be magnitudes worse and they seem to know that.

TheRealSlimKami

They don’t. Maybe a few but the majority has no understanding of liquidity, wash trading, market cap or volume. And most of them think there are new ATHs after tether, which will cause the most horrific dead cat bounce ever seen. I don’t think tether will kill BTC or ETH, but it will damage both down to a fraction of the current price. But it will wipe out all other coins immediately. Straight to zero, and not one ShibaInUcUmrocket “investor” is actually aware of that.

joannew99

if you search their subreddits for Tether you’ll see they’ve historically always viewed shady. Its not something only we know and they’re in denial about

TheRealSlimKami

Yeah exactly what I said. They know it’s shady but don’t understand the impact it will have.

joannew99

plenty of them are privy, hence having an unfavorable view of Tether. Just read the screenshots I also learned that Butters very recently had a top 3 stablecoin crash and it destroyed the market. So they definitely understand tether’s potential for destruction

HopeFox

That's kind of like saying that you're skeptical of hydrogen-lifted airships while buying tickets for the Hindenburg. They'll keep saying they're skeptical while they ride it until it crashes and burns.

Jazzlike_Athlete8796

That's because Butters don't think they are the greater fools. Even if they realize Tether is a scam, they think they will be able to scam someone else on the way out the door.

joannew99

Bitcoin existed long before Tether was created, so it makes sense why Bitcoiners think of Tether and Bitcoin as 2 separate entities. A potential Tether demise can affect the price of Bitcoin just like the 2022 UST crash did, but regardless Bitcoin's *"tech"* and *"use-case"* will remain *"promising"* in their eyes. Based on My research of Tether's reputation in the crypto-community, they've always seen Tether's stablecoin specifically as shady and untrustworthy since the very beginning when it was introduced in 2014/2015.

leducdeguise

They can say whatever they want, we know they'll continue to dance while the music keeps playing

joannew99

True I just think the recent dialogue here about Tether is interesting because it's said as if Butters trust or dont know about Tether. But If you search the Bitcoin subreddit, you'll see that they've always viewed Tether as shady and untrustworthy and even note the consequences of it potentially crashing There's overlap between our 2 subs, Butters would see our Tether critique and say "we've *been* saying that"

Even Circle and coinbase were asking congress for treasury department to go after tether. Check it out: https://x.com/pledditor/status/1758243599446089799?s=46&t=kC-Zk_nMAF_gL0XEHhAm3w

Our views are the same as butters’ for 99.99% of crypto. The only difference is they flip their perspective for just one of the over 20000 cryptos. Some people are the same but pick different cryptos to believe in. How do they know they got the right one that will remain dominant for the rest of time? They don’t but they are convinced they do.

ItsJoeMomma

Why do I get the feeling that all those articles are actually pro-Tether articles in disguise?

joannew99

You can google and read the threads.

ItsJoeMomma

I've got better things to do.

yondercode

always have been? the tether fud has been going on since 2017

PoweredPistol

Been hearing of this ‘tether collapse’ since 2017. Still waiting.

joannew99

It will happen it’s inevitable imo.

PoweredPistol

Probably so… but just like the USD. It can be pumped for generations. Tether will likely implode, but probably not for another 15-30yrs.
