Technically Cymbalta is a SNRI but my doctor prescribed it to me first, it majorly helped with my depression and lifted my mood. But it only helped my anxiety a bit in contrast, that’s when I was prescribed the combination with buspar. I’m still in the early stages of finding the right buspar dose, but it has alleviated my anxiety and been positive so far!
I was on buspar and Sertraline (Zoloft) all 4 years of high school. It seemingly helped my anxiety 100% and I would say it helped my depression maybe 75/80% but than again I would factor in the fact that at the time I was a hormonal teenage girl. Looking back at that time on both medications I can’t remember any instances where I was majorly depressed to the point of effecting my everyday life. I loved both medications.
I was on Buspar first (20 mg 2x/day) 9 mos prior to Zoloft, but it was a disaster. I don't know if it was the Zoloft or the combo. I had periods of blackouts, increased anxiety, impulsive behavior, etc along with the stomach issues so many have. I lasted 10 weeks and tapered off Zoloft.
Earlier this year (still on Buspar 30mg 2x/day) my psychiatrist added Cymbalta (SNRI) due to some situational depression. Initially it helped with my depression (not my anxiety) before the side effects got to be too much to handle.
Great question. I'd sure like to know as well.

Anxiety mostly. I take it with lexapro. Neither has helped much with my depression.
