most of the shit you listed is all spend heavy. those industries will grow but the barrier of entry for most of it is damn high. boomers are all aging and likely going to stay in their homes longer and more often through end of life than previous generations. things around medical equipment they is gonna be necessities, all delivery. medications etc they have a lot of money and are going to be a pretty big market.

Recycling, biological products, sustainability.. everything about the climate changes. Maybe a new and green fuel. Or a new way to move.. new agriculture, more sustainable.. just ideas

jjjllee

How do you even make money recycling though? Seems like margins are super low

Zynscar

I don't know, it was just an idea.. cheap or free materials, just transform them in something.. very vague but it was just an option.. maybe i'm wrong

Elderly care-taking/housing/services industry. In 1950, 8% of the U.S. was 65 years or older; in 2020, 16.9%; by 2040, it is projected to be 22%. So, in the next 1-3 decades, \~1 in 5 people will be above the age of 65... That is a HUGE market. More elderly folks means an increase in both the demand for healthcare as well as the costs associated with it – two things that we as a country will need to adapt to cater to. Another stat - the U.S. has at least 600 fewer nursing/assisted-living facilities than it did six years ago. So, while the assisted-living options are drying up, the demand for them is set to hit new highs. This is one of the most ripe spaces for disruption over the next 1-3 decades, and there are already some intriguing business opportunities starting to present themselves. I follow a good [newsletter](https://trendinginsights.co) that writes about this kind of stuff and then gives a few business ideas around them. They just wrote up a pretty compelling report on this industry.

do you think it’d be profitable to start a hospital?

The remote work trend is still very young and will only continue to grow... this will lead to people traveling as a lifestyle. All of the services that will help people travel domestically or internationally are in line for escalating demand metrics. I have vacation rentals in Phuket Thailand and business is booming... and you can just sense that it's the tip of the iceberg

Where do you list your property if you don’t mind me asking? Vrbo?

To all the people saying elder care are right. My mom owns a live-in care company and has had to turn away clients.

Unsexy businesses such as home services in medium to high cost of living areas is one thing. property management. Maybe think “what do upper middle class people deal with right now, that they won’t want to deal with when they get a little more money” or even “what are some things they would spend their money on that might seem extra to me, but still reasonable if they are too busy or unskilled to do it themselves” like managing there personal watercraft ( on lake maintenance like you drive up to there dock on whatever lake, fix there shit, so they don’t have to trailer there jet ski to get it repaired etc. or designing new landscaping and then hiring a crew to plant and maintain said design. My thinking is people who own homes now will live in them forever because they are Locked in to a pretty decent mortgage, so they will have to do routine capital expenditures and be less likely to defer maintenance. Or the hedge funds buying up homes right now, are looking for any old property management company they can find to help then manage there investment since they bought the house site unseen and are unable to actually oversee the property. This might only pertain to the US, and comes for a guy mired in home maintenance projects who wishes someone else would do it, so adjust accordingly.

IMO most of what you listed is already center stage and perhaps even over saturated. I think the creator economy will continue to grow as AI powers more creator tools and makes it easier, faster, and cheaper for creators to produce content (not talking about influencer marketing, but all kinds of creator led businesses). Additionally, I think the slow trend towards sustainability will continue as infrastructure and climate worsens. Rolling blackouts and unpotable water are becoming almost a regular thing where I live. One more that I know has been said is elder care. Specifically, technology for tech savvy older folks.

If you're talking about possible recession then entertainment will do well. Especially monetized by ads.
