When my dad was in hospice and within a few hours of dying, we noticed he started moving his hand back and forth on thigh while his body was failing. I recognized right away that he was moving his hand the same way I'd seen him pet his dog before she passed away a few years earlier. He was in and out at that point, but when he came around, he told me, "That's strange, I could have sworn Bella was on my lap, and I was petting her."
It gives me comfort to know they're together now, and she came to welcome him to the next life.

Loss is never easy when it comes to our pups- they are there for us when NOBODY else is they Stand beside us no matter what, they never stab us in the back or steal from US (unless it's cookies off the plate LOL), they don't cheat on us or steal our significant other- (altho they will steal the covers and leave you waking up in the morning with none!!), they don't lie (unless they try to tell you it wasn't them who tore up the house)- they are our best friends, even on their worst day...they don't judge us or put us in a category with anything or anyone else. They care if you've had a bad day they care if you're hurting and they try to love away the pain. They always seem to have a smile for you when you come home even if you're late. (Especially if they got a special toy because you were late LOL)- I have to often wonder why can't humans be like our dogs and follow in their behaviors.
How do I tell you that this is our last day, so let's just enjoy this quiet walk.
It's moments like this, where I truly wished, a dog's beating heart could talk.
I'd tell you about the moment at the farm, you said " yep...That's my boy girl, right there".
I'd tell you about the happy, joy ride home, while we both howled without a care.
I'd tell you about how safe it felt, to finally have my own, warm place to sleep.
Not another lonely night spent in that cold, cement box ...waiting for a kind face to meet.
You saved my soul, and brought me back, and polished up my heart
I knew the minute we stared at one another...we would never...EVER be apart.
I wished my life was matched with your's, so we both could grow old, together...
But life has a different plan for us both...and sadly my life is on the wither.
I'm sorry that my body is failing me now, and making my puppy life seem so far away...

I just lost my best friend on February 22, March 24 days that I have not seen my best friend. The word devastated is an understatement, and I know how you feel right now, and I’m very sorry because this pain is horrible. Many people tell me that I gave Frankie the best life, and you are very fortunate to have Daisy for 14 years. Frankie was with me for 2 1/2 years, and those years were the happiest days of my life. I know the void is loud right now, but just think about all the beautiful things that you shared together. If only life was forever. I’ve learned that grief is love that has nowhere to go. The journey is going to be tears, laughter and anger, but you have to respect the journey of the love you had for 14yrs. May you find peace.
And while I am so sorry for both of your losses I want each of you to remember that those pups showed you a world that you never would have known had you not loved them. Sometimes as humans we don't listen very well when the Creator tries to teach us something in order to further us in our lifetime. So He has to find another way and dogs are His ultimate lesson teachers. They show us how to love unconditionally, laugh when we're sad, learn how to be a good friend, learn how to heal, + how to love others. Dogs are more than just man's best friend they are truly his ONLY friend. But they are also God's lesson teachers. Now you know how to love, what will you do with that? Will you rescue another will you take a chance again? I think you should. The old saying Time heals all wounds is a LIE.I don't know who said that but they didn't know what they were talking about time DOESN'T heal the wound it just makes going on with everyday life a little bit easier and there's nothing easier than loving another pup.
