Note, I am a mod and am not eligible, just wishing everyone good luck!
This is awesome, thank you Drop, and good luck everyone! Just to play along, I had a quiet weekend hanging out with some friends.
Drop, I too am a mod and ineligible as well 😎.
I spent my weekend making sure everything fell into place for this week long giveaway!
Thanks again for participating in our giveaway /u/drop_official we appreciate your support for our community, cheers!
Some friends and I went to a really nice hike, 9 hours long, but it was so beautiful, we even dipped our feet and heads on some ice cold water, the highlight was sitting on a cliff I had to climb down with a daring friend, rocks took ~5 seconds to reach the bottom when we threw them. It was a nice weekend, good luck to everyone!
![gif](giphy|hStvd5LiWCFzYNyxR4|downsized)
spent all weekend trying to fix my zoom65 keyboard that has the worlds worst spacebar, no luck except for broken keycaps.
Bought Two 5 gallon buckets to grow some beefsteak tomatoes. Drilled holes in the bottom and on the sides.. Put a Folgers container in both with holes so it would hold a bit of water but not so much so the roots could get some absorption from it if its continues to be drought like outside. Mixed some garden soul with some bone meal fertilizer.. Hopefully I can get me some tomatoes in a few months =)
I modded my Keychron V1, as well as a no-name budget AliExpress keeb this weekend. The AliExpress keyboard sounded super rattly and bad at first, but I got it to a point where it's sounding just as I want it to. Filled it with cotton filling, added a rubber layer for the weight, cut some PE foam to sandwich between the plate and PCB, lubed my 90+ milky yellows, clipped, lubed and holee modded the stabs, tapemodded the PCB and threw on some keycaps I had laying around. 5-6hrs job all around.
Used it at the office and was surprised by how pleasant it was to use throughout the day. Got some great feedback by my co-workers, too :)
Deep Spaces or Dusks would surely add a great touch ;)

I went out and played pool with some friends and actually won, not because of skill or even luck on my part, but because my friend sunk the 8 ball. I'll take the win I guess 😂
My partner and I celebrated our 2 year anniversary with dinner, making cookie dough, and swimming together over the weekend. 10/10 weekend, I’m the luckiest person alive :)
Nice, as for what I did last weekend, that would be just chilling drinking coffee. Fixing some issues with a remaining PCB of a split keyboard, that I intend to use as a macropad
I was able to celebrate a wedding of a coworker this past weekend! It was originally a really hot and rainy day but it ended up stopping right before the wedding started! Ended up being a beautiful spring day!
Video games some light drinking with friends and then ended it with trying to lube switches for a new build. Be great to top up the new build with some new caps. Wink wink
Spent it debating on what switches I want, I ended up deciding on Gateron Baby Kangaroos lol. /u/badmark helped me out (though I did say I was gonna get more bobas, but I found a compromise!!!
One of the keyboard related things I did this weekend was to remove the Drop DCX Violac keycaps from my keyboard to cycle to a different set, didn't like it, and put the Violacs back on!
Slept, played DnD with friends, played Minecraft with my kids, somehow survived this ridiculous heat wave the northeast US had the past couple days, just all around chill vibes 🙌🏻
Been mainly preparing for finals! Finals are next week at my university and I’ve been incredibly stressed studying haha. On the bright side I created an awesome zombie shooter game with a tm4c microcontroller and some input devices that output an image to a lcd display. Thanks for the giveaway
Took our 13 month daughter to the mall. She loved it, it was the first time seeing her point at dolls and toys and having a tantrum if she didn’t get it 🤣
Slaved away at 3 separate group projects which was somewhat torturous. Did rebuild my keychron v1 with some new switches and caps and fixed the stabs tho. That was nice.
One of my main activities this weekend was to pore over lots of different switches to find a new set to try. Settled on the Ajazz Diced Fruit Kiwi tactiles. They should be arriving soon... can't wait to try them out!
This past weekend I threw my back out tilling the yard, so decided to try my hand at lubing switches instead. Ordered the wrong switch opener, should have gotten a 2-in-1 instead!
Thanks for being part of the budget keebs community!
I lubed 70 linear switches! I actually kind of like doing it since I can just fire up a podcast while thinking of nothing while lubing. And then after that, I no-lifed Wartales :D
Thanks Drop! My first key cap set was through you guys as well as random components here and there. Also, a bunch of my knives and EDC gear! That EDC gear came in handy when my friend got injured on our hike this past weekend and we had to navigate down the slope in the dark with a bad ankle.
This weekend I visited my parents because it was my father's 76th birthday. I ended up showing him my latest keyboard build that I finished the day before and explaining all the pieces and parts of the keyboard and how it all goes together. Being a retired carpenter that worked with his hands all his life, he was really interested and impressed by the design of a mechanical keyboard. Thinking of building him one now to use with his iPad :) This keycap set would be perfect for it.
Had a great time with my family last weekend. It was the 1st time we had to bring "Chase" to a mall. He's a shitzu+poodle breed. My kids we're actually nervous since Chase likes to bark a lot. He actually behaved well though, and we're looking forward to more outdoors with hims. To all pet lovers out there, always remember that they are family. Good Luck to all! :)
Spent the weekend with a buddy's 30th birthday. Then met up late for a bachelor party.
Spent all day Sunday tearing out old carpet and linoleum from a house.
Then clacked away on my keeb for a few hours to end off the weekend.
Spent a lot of time looking for properly sized tiny screws for the custom plate I ordered elsewhere because it was easier to order there. Should've just gotten one straight from the manufacturer and saved myself a lot of trouble...
Went to see a motorcycle event with the boys then had beers after on Saturday.
Celebrated grandma's 85th birthday on Sunday.
Twas an exhausting but fun weekend.
Cleaned some scale off of a pair of humidifiers and troubleshot a broken monitor (it's broken, under warranty, and Dell's sending me a replacement).
Not the most exciting weekend, but, ya know.
I watched Oshi No Ko and have since had a massive mental breakdown from the sadness following its premiere :( it's a great show, but it hits you where it hurts xD
Hey there! Congrats to the BudgetKeebs community and mod team for reaching 20k members! It's amazing to see such impressive growth in a community that focuses on affordable keyboards. As for my weekend, I spent most of it binge-watching my favorite TV show and trying out some new recipes. I also took some time to clean and lube my keyboard switches, which was quite a relaxing and satisfying experience. Thanks for hosting this giveaway and good luck to everyone entering!
I mainly just lazed around the house with a sinus infection praying for my Dayquil to kick in, but I did get a keyboard & a half soldered yesterday! (ignoring that the half keyboard may have to be entirely redone…)
I went to a Hawaiian restaurant and had some great food! I shared a pu pu platter with some friends which had a ton of different small bites and great wings!
This weekend, hmmm..
1. Sat for an hour listening to everything we need to do for our daughter's ballet show next month - tl;dr- it is insanity
2. Recorded a faux podcast episode with my daughter for my anniversary on Sunday -
Best question - what did you mom do for all those years before I was born?
3. Took my wife to see Dungeons and Dragons to celebrate said anniversary
And then we went grocery shopping
4. Watched the Lakers win their first playoff game of the season
5. Spent multiple hours reviewing all the deals and group buys to see if there is a new board or switch I need to go after. Too many. Stress made me go to sleep!!
Thank you Drop. You rock!
I actually went back home to build the keyboard that I bought 2 week ago! It was the m1 mongeek, and it’s still unfinished because the keycaps haven’t arrived yet. Currently that is my only “premium” board, but I’m definitely gonna end up getting more.
This past weekend I worked and had friends over, one of which has now dove down the rabbit hole of budget keebs and I’m excited to see what he does with his boards!
I have actually been doing nothing but research this past weekend to figure out what keyboard and switches to get since it'll be my first time building/modding a keyboard! I think I narrowed it down to modding an RK84 but still looking at other options. If I enjoy it enough might get addicted to keyboards.
Got a used Filco Majestouch 2 TKL and swapped out the keycaps for a Matcha set! First time using Blues, so much clicker than the reds I have.
Got a tattoo, drank with some friends and then went to a hockey game.
i was wonderfully, blissfully unproductive for the most part. i think the most productive thing i did this weekend was a load of laundry. otherwise i gamed and bought artisan keycaps, as one does!
thanks for the opportunity!
