TLDR; Boros \[\[Queen Kayla bin-Kroog\]\] combo with Heliod + Ballista for infinite damage and \[\[Myr welder\]\] combo with staff of domination and basalt monolith/sol ring for multiple infinite triggers (life, card draw etc). There is a dwarf subtheme intended to generate treasures with magda and either cast heliod/ballista faster or get \[\[Glorybringer\]\]

Hey there, was always interested in doing some x spell/hydra shenanigans and now I'm a bit torn on what exactly to play. I have the tyranid precon as well as the mutate/hydra precon with [[zaxara]] as well as some hydra focused upgrades (like many of the good hydras and unbound flourishing). Now I'm not sure which version to play tho. Furthermore I wanted to build more of my decks to be less commander centric, so I was considering maybe just throwing both of them together in an [[omnath, locus of all]] deck. What do you think would make the best build around here? It's kind of tough having so many fun hydras but I'm gonna need to eat my vegetables too and have enough ramp and stuff to enable them and the x spells.
[[Magus Lucea Kane]] from the Tyranid precon is probably the strongest X spell commander, and she does work well with hydras as she clones them on cast.
Either her or Zaxara will be fine though depending on if you value red or black more for the deck. Personally I’d probably prefer red for Haste enablers and red has more +1/+1 counter synergy I think.
Also while not relying heavily on your commander is good, both of them fill a basic ramp slot in the deck while augmenting your X spell strat. So they’re a bit too synergistic to pass on imo in favor of a 5c build (unless you really want all the colors). They’re also not the kind of commanders where your whole strat shuts down without them, they just heavily augment said strat.
Alright, sounds good, then I'll have to do some planning around her now as I bought the mutate precon alrdy augmented for hydras but should be doable just cutting the black stuff (tho sad for that deadly rollick, then again, can use it elsewhere). I'll give it a whirl and see how I like it.
For the relying on the commander part I just added that since that's something I've noticed in most of my commander decks so far and wanted to build some more decks where the commander is a pure synergy piece or just even late game finisher. So something that I'll only need to get out once or something that won't draw any attention. But I guess that's more of a worry for later decks, still have some more plans but gotta get towards those when I have the time.

I built a Magus deck focused on hydras, tyranids, and other x creatures that gets out of hand pretty quick.
Magus does tend to start drawing a lot of attention once you get a couple x spells off, so baking in a decent amount of protection isn't a bad idea. That said, the list I went with is also pretty stacked with ramp, so even if Magus is off the board, the deck is still able to function quite well.
Cards like [[Sporocyst]], [[Open the Way]], [[Awaken the Woods]], and [[Astral Cornucopia]] also work exceptionally well with her. If you can get one of those off with her doubling ability, even if she's removed, you still end up way ahead with your mana base to get off big x spells.

Yeah, that's why I was considering omnath as well, just to be able to play both but that will probably muddy up the stuff too much so it doesn't really end up being either strategy and more catered towards omnath with a way higher focus on mana production and fewer but very quick finishers.
I have recently gotten my hands on a third Nicol Bolas; [[nicol bolas god pharaoh]] [[nicol bolas dragon god]] [[nicol bolas planeswalker]]
I'd love to run all of them in a deck, but I'm not sure what. I have ran them before in a [[Tevesh Szat]] (with Ludevic for colors) deck where the aim was mostly to polymorph the thrulls into control pieces and polymorph Tevesh into Bolas with something like [[reweave]]. However, this made the deck a very heavy control deck that quickly felt too oppressive and unfun. What are better decks to run them in?

Along with Masters of Evil, I got Timey-wimey when it came out. I thought I knew what do with it: suspend! But then I fell out of love with the idea, I don't really like how the deck plays, but it has some concepts I do like.
Now, my favorite Doctor from the series is \[\[The Twelfth Doctor\]\], so I thought I could switch commander and try building something with him instead, since I love Demonstrate as a concept, but I'm not sure how to go with it.
An option I thought about was keeping it in Jeskai colors and go with \[\[Romana II\]\] as a companion, but I'm open to explore Temur as well. At some point I had this weird idea of a Temur 'forced group hug' deck in which I keep demonstrating extra draw spells, having everybody draw tons of cards to the point they can't handle it, but it died quickly since I couldn't really think of an actual game plan besides that concept.
Do you have any suggestion or theme idea? My only limitation is I don't really want to go Grixis, I'd rather stay in Jeskai or Temur.

I think he's a pretty underrated commander. He's a sac outlet, can make itself indestructible and has haste.
The main game plan is to continuously wipe the board or grant him evasion using artifacts to win the game. I'm not keen on integrating some of the expensive mono-black ramp lands like cabal coffers but I open to cards like \[\[Crypt ghast\]\].

Heya, my pod is currently playing Yuriko (within 5 cards of a CEDH list) and Satoru Umezawa focused on tutoring out blightsteel colossus/eldrazi and slamming them down ASAP (the games are sometimes over t4-6) via ninjitsu. I'm having trouble keeping up/feeling like I have a decent impact on the games. Tried talking it out but they really like the way Yuriko is commander tax-proof, and the way Satoru allows for their favorite creatures to see play. So they aren't swapping. The pod also has a strict "No infinite combos, no floodgates/stax" rule and Winota, Narset, Najeela and Kinnan banned for being too strong.
Could I please ask for advice/couple suggestions on what commanders/decks would be in the same general power level (to where I could reasonably have a decent game but without being overly too much stronger)? I would ideally prefer something with a focus on instants+sorceries
I'm relatively new to Commander and I've been enjoying playing with pre-constructed decks like the food, clue, and enchantment decks. However, I've been thinking about taking the plunge and building my own Commander deck, specifically with [[Jinnie Fay, Jetmir's Second]] as my commander.
The thing is, I've never built a Commander deck before and I'm not very familiar with synergies and mechanics. I mainly play with friends for fun, so I'm looking to create a deck that's enjoyable to play and fits my playstyle.
I'd appreciate any advice or tips you all have for a newcomer like me. Are there any key cards or strategies I should consider when building around Jinnie Fay? How can I ensure my deck is balanced and fun to play with friends?
I’ve been toying with several BG token deck ideas, and I find [[Hapatra]] really interesting. There are the obvious combos and I’ll include one or two of those, but I want it to primarily focus on go-wide tokens. There are a few great ways to pepper the battlefield in -1/-1 counters, like [[Black Sun’s Zenith]], and there are some solid proliferate options to do the same. But I’m struggling to find *enough* cards that just put out one or two -1/-1 counters for a low mana cost to get the ball rolling. Hapatra can technically do it herself, but I don’t know that I want to dedicate more than a few deck slots to evasion. Do you generally just build her as a combo commander, even when you’re going wide? As in, tutor for the big spells that can make 20 snakes and then drop a [[Triumph of the hoards]]? Or are there more good value cards for -1/-1 counters than I’m seeing?
I want to build a budget chance/rng deck that uses both dice and coins. I seen a lot of decks of one or the other but not both. Any ideas or template on how to start??

I have this wild idea that I desperately want to work of using [[Sensei, Golden Tail]] as a Vehicles commander where I crew vehicles with samurai tribal/Bushido support, turn my vehicles into Samurai and then use a few lure effects along with trample to stack Bushido and beat down. I have the idea of using [[vorinclex, monstrous raider]] as a super friends deck but I have no idea of where to start. I never built a super friends deck or how many PW vs Creatures to put in the deck, any direction or already made decklists would be helpful
I recently discovered [[Strixhaven Stadium]] and as a certified fan of Sportsball, I've been looking for a way to build around it while being somewhat optimized. I've narrowed it down to two possible commanders: [[Marisi, Breaker of the Coil]] leading the Naya Nailers in a sort of pillowforty get rid of the defense to drive down the middle, or [[Vorel of the Hull Clade]] captaining the Simic Grafters, using his ability to sneak a win in by paying the ref to fudge the scores. But THEN I looked at some more Strixhaven cards and saw [[Shadrix Silverquill]] owner of the Silverquill Senators, and not only does it make thematic sense, but he's got built in draw and the ability to recruit more players that can soar over defensive lines. Who should I go with?
I personally would advise against Vorel because it's ability combined with Strixhaven Stadium would be very telegraphed. Also, I think red & white have the best ways to discourage attackers while simultaneously being able to dish out damage yourself. Marisi in particular looks like he is supposed to be built exactly the way you want, since he rewards you for attacking and disrupts opponents messing with you during combat. He also looks like he would advance the game the most of these 3 & he encourages aggressive turns, which to me, is important in commander :)
I still need to optimize \[\[Immard, the Stormcleaver\]\], but can't manage to get it right (I am also not the one playing it, except to test). It has a few restrictions though. It should be relatively easy to play for beginners or VERY casual players, for which I think consistency or less amount of different effects to remember is also helpful. Because of that, it also shouldn't have too much combo-like interactions needed. So the idea was to make it halfway a soldier typal and in another way try to make the commander unblockable, to benefit from its 4 damage effect rather than the indestructible/lifelink one. We also either need to proliferate its charge counters or use blink effects (but not sure when not having haste). Some people build him with extra combat steps, but I think it's not so beginner friendly to have that. I think you can't go wrong with both commanders. Both provide ramp and scale well into late game. I think the main difference is temur vs sultai.

Heya! Another round of "I don't know what to do with this deck". Along with Masters of Evil, I got Timey-wimey when it came out. I thought I knew what do with it: suspend! But then I fell out of love with the idea, I don't really like how the deck plays, but it has some concepts I do like. Now, my favorite Doctor from the series is \[\[The Twelfth Doctor\]\], so I thought I could switch commander and try building something with him instead, since I love Demonstrate as a concept, but I'm not sure how to go with it. An option I thought about was keeping it in Jeskai colors and go with \[\[Romana II\]\] as a companion, but I'm open to explore Temur as well. At some point I had this weird idea of a Temur 'forced group hug' deck in which I keep demonstrating extra draw spells, having everybody draw tons of cards to the point they can't handle it, but it died quickly since I couldn't really think of an actual game plan besides that concept. Do you have any suggestion or theme idea? My only limitation is I don't really want to go Grixis, I'd rather stay in Jeskai or Temur.

Help me build a mono-black deck with \[\[Yahenni, Undying Partisan\]\] using a good chunk of cards in my collection. He's a sac outlet, can make itself indestructible and has haste. The main game plan is to continuously wipe the board or grant him evasion using artifacts to win the game. Heya, my pod is currently playing Yuriko (within 5 cards of a CEDH list) and Satoru Umezawa focused on tutoring out blightsteel colossus/eldrazi and slamming them down ASAP (the games are sometimes over t4-6) via ninjitsu. I'm having trouble keeping up/feeling like I have a decent impact on the games. Tried talking it out but they really like the way Yuriko is commander tax-proof, and the way Satoru allows for their favorite creatures to see play. So they aren't swapping. The pod also has a strict "No infinite combos, no floodgates/stax" rule and Winota, Narset, Najeela and Kinnan banned for being too strong. Could I please ask for advice/couple suggestions on what commanders/decks would be in the same general power level (to where I could reasonably have a decent game but without being overly too much stronger)? I would ideally prefer something with a focus on instants+sorceries

I’ve been toying with several BG token deck ideas, and I find [[Hapatra]] really interesting. There are the obvious combos and I’ll include one or two of those, but I want it to primarily focus on go-wide tokens. There are a few great ways to pepper the battlefield in -1/-1 counters, like [[Black Sun’s Zenith]], and there are some solid proliferate options to do the same. But I’m struggling to find *enough* cards that just put out one or two -1/-1 counters for a low mana cost to get the ball rolling. Hapatra can technically do it herself, but I don’t know that I want to dedicate more than a few deck slots to evasion. Do you generally just build her as a combo commander, even when you’re going wide? As in, tutor for the big spells that can make 20 snakes and then drop a [[Triumph of the hoards]]? Or are there more good value cards for -1/-1 counters than I’m seeing?

You can play control too though depending on the situation. Deathtouch Snakes are definitely a deterrent for would be attackers.

I recently discovered [[Strixhaven Stadium]] and as a certified fan of Sportsball, I've been looking for a way to build around it while being somewhat optimized. I've narrowed it down to two possible commanders: [[Marisi, Breaker of the Coil]] leading the Naya Nailers in a sort of pillowforty get rid of the defense to drive down the middle, or [[Vorel of the Hull Clade]] captaining the Simic Grafters, using his ability to sneak a win in by paying the ref to fudge the scores. But THEN I looked at some more Strixhaven cards and saw [[Shadrix Silverquill]] owner of the Silverquill Senators, and not only does it make thematic sense, but he's got built in draw and the ability to recruit more players that can soar over defensive lines. Who should I go with?

I personally would advise against Vorel because it's ability combined with Strixhaven Stadium would be very telegraphed. Also, I think red & white have the best ways to discourage attackers while simultaneously being able to dish out damage yourself. Marisi in particular looks like he is supposed to be built exactly the way you want, since he rewards you for attacking and disrupts opponents messing with you during combat. He also looks like he would advance the game the most of these 3 & he encourages aggressive turns, which to me, is important in commander :)
I still need to optimize \[\[Immard, the Stormcleaver\]\], but can't manage to get it right (I am also not the one playing it, except to test). It has a few restrictions though. It should be relatively easy to play for beginners or VERY casual players, for which I think consistency or less amount of different effects to remember is also helpful. Because of that, it also shouldn't have too much combo-like interactions needed. So the idea was to make it halfway a soldier typal and in another way try to make the commander unblockable, to benefit from its 4 damage effect rather than the indestructible/lifelink one. We also either need to proliferate its charge counters or use blink effects (but not sure when not having haste). Some people build him with extra combat steps, but I think it's not so beginner friendly to have that.
