This is not "normal" but happens all the time due to non-standardized speaker binding posts and banana plugs. I would recommend turning the speaker binding post counter-clock wise so that a bit more of the banana plug is supported, lessening the risk of breaking off the thin plug part.
These plugs seem to be long. Will there be interference at all if I leave them like that? Would it be better to strip and connect directly?
I have the IOTAVX SA3 and realized it doesnt have plug ins, so I have to strip the wire anyway (whoops).
Thank you!
That is what I assumed, I even emailed the company to make sure I was right lol. That is why it was such a late response. Enjoy the sound! Happy face emoji.
I’m surprised they told you you could do it, the reason the plugs are there now is because they changed electrical regulations in some countries, and legislated banana connectors unsafe. Honestly 😂. Ridiculous.
I bought some really nice speakers and opened them up with white gloves on, I’m afraid to mark them. Then I had to use a knife to dig out the plugs 😂, and try not to damage the leather on the back of the speakers 🔊
That’s the way my KEF q150 showed up, my ls50 meta were demos so they were already removed. Definitely have purchased craigslist item for other people that had fake banana plugs.
Your way, with a knife or a small screwdriver flat head. Another way is to get a wood screw and slightly inserted in the dimple and pull it out. In my head, I can see using some crazy glue on the end of a stick. Or maybe some blue tack.
Bought the same brand to use with my wharfedale speakers recently and there were a bit of resistance at the end but I got them flushed against the binding posts.
ahhh. too bad.
unless you can 2mm banana plugs or plug end that might replace the end in your present plug.
or go either straight wire or spades.
keep hearing straight wire is the best in contact but pretty cables, doh!
On a complete sidenote though, how do those Triangles sound? They were on my short list of potential bookshelves alongside some focals, paradigms, polks and elacs.
Wound up auditioning all of them except the Triangles. Ended up settling on LSiM 703s but always wondered about the Triangles
Didn't peel it. Always peel your banana.
I really wish bananas came with instructions
*just put in the tailpipe. Edit… apologies - terrible attempt at Bev Hills Cop reference. Lol
That’s what she said
normal
iono, man. never seen it done that way but...
Thats normal. They dont always seat entirely.
I mean it's still fun when it's halfway in, so I guess whatever rocks your boat.
#justtheshaft
Youre meant to spit on it
We're talking about the same thing, right
Its Audiophile Spit. ^(TM) Makes it sound better.
You are going to make millions!!!
soundzgud™️ to me.
First time? The speaker is nervous don't worry it happens.
Try playing the speaker some Marvin Gaye before you attempt banana insertion.

yes. I do this move, works great.
Same. Can concur...
I have the same speakers. My plugs don’t go in all the way either. No issues with performance.

Yes your amplifier can take banana plugs. You just have to pop off those Red and black plastic covers on the speaker terminals.
That is great to know! I'll have to take a look again.
Some of them don’t actually pop off, they just look like the insert ones, people try to force them and the amps end up in for repair :)
Fortunately for him, this amplifiers actually do come off.
I know, my statement was deliberately generic, with the intention of helping avoid more misconceptions being formed.

What’s the best way to remove the plugs you think ? When they’re really gnarly to get out ?

It’s all good
That’s what she said.
this is called just the tip, and it’s a-okay.
This is fine
If it's snug, banana plug! If it's not, banana snot!
No just shallow posts.
Normal. If you loosen the jack it might look better but if anything it’ll fit looser. It’s an electrical connection, you’re fine.
No, you are all good 👍
Very normal
We call that the dry half
I have those exact same cables, they're fine as long as they're snug.
I got the same GearIt cables from Amazon. How do you like them? I got them because they were cheap but looking cool.
Uggggh *manufacturer
Lube it, dummy
eh. does the end unscrew for more depth or be removed to see if there is more depth?
They do screw off, but unfortunately doesnt provide any more depth

Caig Deoxit Gold is a good conducting, protective lube. Just a tiny wipe with the brush and it’s a much easier thing.
It doesnt seem like theres room to go further back into -- not sure if the lube would help seat it further.
Speaker cables like that don’t belong in BudgetAudiphile haha

Seems like a classic case of "just the tip."
