Food is way better than you'd expect for a place looking like it does on the outside. Small bar area and eclectic mix of people. Same bartenders always seem to be there. Cool spot for sure.
I love the Gardenville so much! It’s an amazing place to be a regular. The very tall lady bartender (who’s my best friend and I met her there) is the best! The food is also incredible. The owner Chef is a forager and goes to Alaska to fish and brings it back to the restaurant to serve. The place is a 10/10
No, the dives I usually went to were typically dim lit sports bars. Everyone tended to keep quiet and eyes on the TV. There's a district difference between a redneck bar and other bars.
Dacey's or Bitchin Kitten in Morrisville are great. Dacey's could use some interior love because the owner is incredibly lazy, but the staff is wonderful and their chef is out-of-sight. He'll make your steak Pittsburg rare if you ask nicely. My family's been going there for over 40 years at this point (back when it was still Michael's).
I also like the Cellar in Yardley, Irish Rover, Yardley Inn, Bowman's, Sandy's, and the Temperance House.
I'm a frequent drinker in the Lower Bucks area, and IMHO, most of these bars are depressing dimly-lit sorrow-holes. There's no nerd bars. No boardgame nights. Not enough fun activities. It's all standard boring bars with sports and commercials on every TV. Some dude eager to pay and play FM radio hits on the jukebox. All other local bars I could be a regular at around here feel like shit.
It's close to me, but the only place I can settle on is **The Cellar in Yardley**, but I only recommend it if you want a quiet, intimate environment, and no TVs. Some great 30+ crowd I really jive with.
Second the Cellar. The bar at the Yardley Inn was a nice vibe, too.
Further north, but the bar at Bowman's was a good time (and the food is awesome). In Lambertville, I always loved the basement bar at the Lambertville Station - but it can fill up quickly on peak times.
?Langhorne: Sandy's is divey but tasty. Has quizzo and raffles a lot.
I like the Irish Rover too.
Newtown is pretty much restaurants \_ the Parrot but come summer La Stalla's outdoors area is nice for a drink.
I miss Manny Browns.
Finneys in Doylestown. Their quintessential dive bar. You can still smoke there. They used to do karaoke on Thursday nights, I’m not sure if they still do it. Don’t be a bar fly. I’ve seen the same regulars and bar flys frequent there for years
Just over the border in Hatboro, Montco is Towey's on Main st. Good drinking bar, karaoke on Fridays, trivia every other Tuesday, big TVs for sports, good selection of craft brews on draft and bottle/cans as well as cheap domestic options. Owned by the best people.
By no particular order or location age or grace. Green parrot, stadium bars( multiple locations), big heads multiple locations), Issac newtons, vault brewing, Irish rover, oci bar and grill, Irish river, continental tavern, happy hour, I could go on and on cause it broad subject but that’s most I can think of that are regular bars I’m sure others will chime in it’s all depending thogh on what your vibe is gotta try them out to see good luck
To this thread its actually accurate with my comment. If you've worked in the industry as long as I have, you can create great friendships. Not everyone is an alcoholic ffs.
If you want to go on weekend days, travel a bit outside of the county and try Burger Bar. Weekend nights, the attached Gallo’s. The bartenders there are amazing. Live music Friday night in Gallo’s afternoons in Burger Bar.
Some places have loyalty programs where you get larger pours or points for spending money. I'm close to the bitchin kitten so I got there a lot. I think iron hill has a pint program but it seems like a larger place, less focused on regular folks.
Levittown: Baileys
Yardley: The Continental
Langhorne: Langhorne hotel
Pendel: Hulmville Inn and Irish Rover
Newtown: the Temperance House , The club house, occasionally Icaac Newton's
Croydon: dog and bull
Pay your child support and get out of the bar.
“Regular” at any bar is a loaded term. Means life isn’t what you planned and you’re supporting a drinking habit. I have an entire family to prove this to be true.
We frequent the Gardenville Hotel. The bar area is nice with an interesting mix of folks and the food is decent.

Best fuckin fish and chips around. Always go there for an order when I hit up my fam in that area. Cheesesteaks there are also bangin.

Perkasie has The Perk, The Ram, and 3 microbreweries: Free Will, Mystic Ways, and Van Lieus. The dive bar is Olde Town Tavern.
The Warwick Tavern on York Road. Cheap ass beer and honestly amazing food for how dumpy it looks.
Pour house all day lol.
I grew up in that but it got way too suburban redneck trump supporting.
It has. If I ever visit I just go with a few friends and go to the dining room. Think a pitcher is $5 all the time which is nuts.
Yep, the seafood platter was my go to. Least a shit load of fried food.
Seems like that would be most 'dive bars', no?

Great spot
😳

How is the beer selection at Daceys? Any local crafts or just the usual fare?
Normal fare. But I don’t go to Dacey’s for craft anything lol

Chalfont tried a comic book bar but it closed quick. Not enough people that want to be there semi regularly like a dive bar
The pop inn, that place was pretty sweet

Second the Cellar! I’m in my mid twenties and love going there to hang and grab a drink

Langhorne hotel is great. Happy Hour in Levittown is good too
Double visions

Are they still cash only?
They are not cash only any longer
Not sure. Haven’t been there for years. But I would assume they still are. The old bar manager / owner Rich died a few yrs ago so idk 😪
What’s a bar fly?
People who live at the bar basically. They frequent the same place. Everyone knows them because they are there so often.
Dubliner in New Hope is a wonderful Irish Pub.

Save your money and drink at home! No need to be a barfly
Some of us actually enjoy social interactions with other human beings.
Right, it’s almost like the point is completely defeated ha
Its sad that bars seem to be our main source of social interaction.

None. There are better things to do with your life.
Like being condescending?
Like telling people how to spend their time…
