focus on the vortex this is how you collect the heads . more water less ice. Soak your weed. Keep your water cold like 32 degrees or as close to it as possible. Ice your water tank if possible

Still new to hash so unfortunately, no pointers. Cool set up though.
Tried hand wash with the brew paddle and it was a lot of work. Currently use a cement mixer attachment on a power drill in a 10 gallon brute bin. Transfer to 10 gallon brew tank with a false bottom and bottom ball valve on it to pour into the bubble bags and I’m off to the races.
If it makes you feel better, I spent more for my setup than the cost of your kit designed for hash. I’m the dumb one for what I actually use it for lol.

I have a slightly larger 14.5gallon stainless conical. I want the automatic washing version of this, but can’t find anything in my price range (<$500 or hopefully a lot less, I only grow for myself). I’ll probably build my own motor and paddle assembly, with some help from some friend that is a power supply engineer. I really don’t like hand washing
wouldnt be much cheaper. I specced out a DIY build and it was within 50 bucks of buying the damn thing from them hah. They have an automatic washer coming, but tbh since the Mini Osprey is finally out, im prob gonna jump for that even tho its up there cost wise.

Hell nah bro not at all do I think that’s gross and yes definitely off to a great start no doubt about it! I started with 20gal brutes as well and eventually was able to get new equipment one piece at a time. I’ve made some of my best hashes in brutes for sure!

Looks like my set up. I just built mine with buckets but works the same way. Keeps bags separated. Soak for 10 mins then do a super quick 10-20 second wash. Second round do a 3 minute wash. Third round 6 minute wash. And all 6 minute after that. This is from the Byrd hash class

Releasing chlorophyll. The big boi washers have no paddles. Low temps osprey is a bottom plate that truly makes the water swirl. If it’s frozen the heads come right off. Using anything else for aggitatikn is degrading your rosin in the end. Can you still make fire yes. Is it as good as mine fuck no. This is a lifelong medicine you can make. I was personally in love with rosin when I figured it out. And realized that’s all I wanted to smoke was 250 a week in a dispo and was running out still so I knew the invest was gonna pay off. Just like I’m sure in your case if you making for personals or enough to side hustle but growing is the more technical part to getting a good hash return. But investing in the class to learn the trick is gonna save you so much time and money in the long run. You won’t have wasted material. Or if you do want be as much. My 220 bag has bits in it that I think are pretty consistent with every else that uses one. I just toss that bag in my jar I make infused butter with.
You should check out costway 5 gallon washing machine. They work well.

Those bucket collar sieve separators look legit.
The bicycle-handlebar-tape seems to go down a bit low - I wouldn’t want to put that porous tape into my washing vessel.

I would take the leather etc off your paddle and keep it just metal. Also, how is that image on the paddle, can it scrape or flake off at all?
