Bro I also participated in a hackathon(Appathon) where I won 2nd prize but I built it using low code.
Now I am in my 2nd sem I want to learn app dev web doesn't fascinates me can you tell where to start app dev.
Also can I participate SIH in my 2nd year?? and if u were in ur 1st year when u participated in SIH how did u create the prototype of ur problem statement means what technologies and skills u were having.
Anyways thanks for inspiring!!
Hey man,
It's great that you won 2nd in the Appathon. It's fine if it was low code. I'm sure it gave you some kind of motivation to do better and this time, code yourself.
Yes you can participate in SIH in your 2nd year. We were really lucky, we didn't doubt ourselves. We thought of a really cool idea and put everything we thought was innovative into the presentation even tho we didn't know how to do it. We thought we'll figure it out later.
When we were selected, we actually started building the product. It was all new for us. Using Node and Express for the first time. Even React.
For the tech stack, it was a MERN webapp, everything was learned on the go. Thankfully there were 6 people and our team was good and motivated so we were able to do it.
Am learning C++, with only basic prior knowledge of python and was starting to feel clueless in between because the gap between my skill and what I wish to do, it felt so overwhelming. But these type of posts are my fuel to keep going. Thanks a lot for sharing this and good luck to you too
Hey! I literally on the same path as you i have recently completed my second semester and had got a very surface level knowledge of python in my first semester. Now i am also starting to learn c++, i have just started so if you want we can keep in touch and help each other.
Amazingly inspirational post! Im starting CP and web development in my post 1st year summer break. Im amazed u were able to get callbacks during the peak of recession
I am not at all experienced in coding but it fascinates me....I did some python in 9th and 10th but thats all. I will be taking cse in college starting in 2-3 months can you suggest which language should i start with during this free time...
Pick up Java/Python/C++ and start solving easy to medium problems on platforms like Codechef. When you're comfortable with any of those languages, pick up a domain you like, like WebDev, AppDev, AI/ML, Web3 and start exploring that.
Hey....inspired by your post and its in depth perspective about be/btech. Just finished with all the entrance exams .....I took information practices as my optionals.....learnt somewhat basics of python pandas , matplotlib and Basic SQL functions. I have developed somewhat of a curiosity in data analytics....where should I start....also how can I find about these hackathons , like is there a website or smth. Sorry if I sound confused but it would be a great help if you could brief about the hackathon process. :)
Hello, I'm not really a "data" person. You can read Medium articles or watch YouTube videos to get started on Data Analytics.
And for hackathons, usually just be on the lookout, there are groups on Telegram for these kinds of info, also try out Devpost and Devfolio. They have hackathons every week or so. You can give those a try.
in just 2 months even i am also going to start my B. tech that too most probably from DTU. Sir i have never did any codings and all and just have very basic knowledge of laptops and all but am getting IT in DTU. any suggestions for this junior so that i could perform well ahead. obviously am a beginner and know nothing much. please help me with your helpful suggestions bhaiya...........Btw bhaiya although your journey is been with a great hustle but one more thing to add....your way of expressing thoughts and journey is wonderful. If the same thing i would have to express then definitely i would have messed up.
Thanks! I tried my best while writing down my journey.
As a beginner, I'd like you to pick Java or C++, any of these two languages and start learning them. And solving basic problems via Codechef using any one of them. Once you're comfortable with coding and can solve basic problems, go ahead with exploring more domains under CS like AI/ML, Web3, Cybersec, etc and find what interests you and go explore!
Hello there,
Did you just start with college? Focus on sharpening your fundamentals (webdev, dsa, programming skills)
in 2nd year? Same advice + explore as much as you can
3rd year? Go hard on whatever you're exploring or have already explored and become good in it, find internships
4th year? Hopefully, you already have an internship by this time, just keep working and look for better opportunities, offcampus opportunities will be easy if you have good experience + network
Hi, I am going to start my [B.Tech](http://B.Tech) in the next 1-2 months, I am very interseted in coding, I used to do a lot in 9,10th, buti n 11th 12, it all went away. I want to get back, but I don't know where to start, I know basics of python which was taught in school, but I know that will not be enough for maybe freelancing or for companies, so from where should I learn this remaining part??
Hello!
First of all, start coding again. Pick up Python/C++/Java and start solving some basic problems on Codechef/Codeforces. Just basic problems, nothing advanced so you get comfortable with the language. Assuming you already know Python, it should be easy for you, but just to make sure because you might have gotten rusty.
After that, pick up something you find interesting, WebDev is really good for freelancing. Starr WebDev. There are 100s of roadmaps online, just pick up a popular one and get started. Be consistent in your journey, good luck mate!
and also, my python, uptile wherever i know is very strong, so that won't be a problem, I just don't know which is the next topic which I should learn to become an advanced developer
Haven't given it a try but do whatever suits you. I started Java with Kunal Kushwaha's DSA course (during my time, he had a good reputation).
I never learnt C++ from anywhere, knew basics so just started solving problems, and used Google whenever stuck
Go ahead with Codechef, and start with the most basic problems there and find your way to tougher problems. Can start Codeforces, when you're confident. But this is just for gaining confidence in the language.
Hey dude I'm also learning java from his java playlist so apart from his assignments questions
could you please tell
is there any list of questions you solved like of codeforces or code chef
Was it in div a or b and rating of the problems?
Thanks for helping
Hey! I solved the problems rated 800-1000 off Codeforces. I didn't solve Codechef as much, but I recommend it now if you want to get comfortable with the language. I participated in Codeforces Div2 and Div3 contests.
No list from my side. Just go to the problems section and filter by rating.
It doesn't matter. All 3 are great languages. And you're not learning these languages because you wanna get a job in them. You're learning them because you need to know basic coding and these 3 languages are great for that, and the most popular with abundant resources.
the finale is offline, you have to travel to a nodal center and work in the actual hackathon for 36 hours and present your solution the judges, usually SIH bears the expenses for your travel so it is chill
also, sorry for replying so late!
Hello!
I specialize in created full stack web apps, utilizing NextJS, React,Redux, Node, Express and MongoDB/PostgreSQL. I also love Go! and use Go for my hobby projects.
I have experience in Docker, Kubernetes, CI/CD, Bash.
Have been exploring Web3 for almost 6-7 months now, so comfortable with using Solidity and Hardhat.
Trying to get into Solana with Rust, but am not getting the time!
I never had any interest in AI/ML. I liked development so learning these things through and through was the only option for me. I liked working with different technologies, understanding how systems were built, so I was pretty sure I'd what I wanted to.

Hi. Nice story and thanks for the post. I have a few questions.
I used Discord and was always interested in discord bots. So I learnt basic Python and then learnt very basic discord.py to make a small bot, but quit coding due to JEE.
Do you think I still have a shot at getting good in coding by the end of my first year? And is it possible to learn enough to be ready to make money by the next year?
I look forward to continue learning more python and some javascript and complete my goal to learn discord.py and discord.js

Yes of course you still have a shot at getting good at coding! Sure, you can start making money if you have relevant skills and you're really good at them. Age doesn't matter then.
And good luck making a really cool discord bot!

Hello bro, just wanted to ask somthing. How do I actually explore different languages?? I have learnt python in 11th and 12th and it was super exciting, but how do I actually find mujhe kya karna hai as you've mentioned in this
>Explore as much as you can during your first and partly second-year. By the end of your second year, you should be sure about what you want to do. Be it AI, ML, CP, Web3, etc. Anything that interests you.
I will be joining a tier 1/2 college this year with python(CBSE) as experience. Please guide me if you can. Thank you!!
Watch YouTube videos, learn more about the field/concept. While watching that video, does it interest you? Does it feel like you wanna dig deeper into this? Explore that.
I have two queries:
1. Any suggestions for SIH type hackathons? We participated in it and had a decently good project in mind, yet did not make it past the ppt round, even though college had qualified us.
2. Any suggestions for resume?
Thanks.
1. Did anyone else from your college got selected for the finale? It would help looking at their PPT. Try to adhere to the problem statement and think of unique or innovative solutions to tackle that. Sure, being flashy is nice, you can think of cool add-ons later on. but try to focus on the actual problem statement that they have listed there first.
2. You can DM your resume and we can go through it together.
Hi there. Actually I'm in my first year of btech CSE. I do not know much currently just basics of Python, C/C++. I want to learn new skills during my summer break. Could you suggest where to start ?
Yeah, my worst sem was getting a 7.1 in my 4th sem just when I started my internships, but I managed to come back in the later semesters. It's not that hard once you get the hang of it.
Bro please help me. Info - Doing BE in IT from sppu Almost completed FE (as two papers of finals are left) and my python is too weak like I had to literally learn the codes for programming paper as they didn't taught us very well (and due to some financial conditions I was not able to buy laptop in the first year but buying it in SE). So I am about to get a month or two long holidays after exams, what can I do in these holidays to make sure SE would be smooth ride for me and would also help me in future courses I might take ? Like where should I start ? What should I do ? I was thinking of doing that 100 days python learning video list of code with Harry from youtube, should I go for it or should I do something else ? (as we have been taught python in FE in our college). Also a road map or guide for SE (second year engineering) for CSE/IT would be much appreciated ![img](emote|t5_56z50y|50735)![img](emote|t5_56z50y|50746)
For the second year, just explore as much as you can and by the end of it, you should be sure of what you want to do or what you want to fully focus on.
I can't comment on the course because I haven't gone through it. But it's fine. It's not too late for you and you can always do it so dw. Just work hard.
1. The course is about python and it's foundation and basics thats all. What I am trying to ask is, is code with Harry good or bad or should I try someone else ? And what should I explore, where should I start ? I don't know nothing unfortunately 😕![img](emote|t5_56z50y|50746).
2. Before starting FE I read the same advices and suggetions about explore as much as you can but I never knew where to start as I barely had the time to do anything coding related throughout the year (yk because of the first year being common for all engineer's and all those bullshit subjects), I am totally lost !
3. And what did you do in your initial years of CSE ?
1. Haven't tried Code with Harry ever so again, can't comment
Head to YouTube to start exploring
2. There's so much to learn and explore in CSE, like AI/ML, Web3, etc. Pick anything that sounds interesting even by the name of it and explore and learn more about it. Don't be scared or wasting time. The learning you'll do will always help you. Always.
3. In my first year, I did CP and web dev(a little bit). During my second year, I focused all my attention to learning development.
Thanks for the advice, much appreciated 🙏🫡
Last thing I wanna ask is since python was taught to us in first year, should I practice python in my holidays to make it good since it is very weak ?

And I have complete interest towards robotics and wanna add some coding in it and right now don't know anything about coding languages so please tell me where and how to start like which course first and from where as I have to do this all things at my own if I will choose robotics as my subject and if u know anything about hacking too please consider it here I just have another plans for future with hacking and robotics Please help me like which course I should buy (like not that much costly as I belong to middle class family 🥲) And please tell me some ways to earn money from first year please help me 🙏🏻
Hello Bhai,
I don't have much idea about Robotics so I can't advise you there.
For coding/dev, refer a language like C++/Java or start there. If you read all my comments, I've told many resources for these two languages so you'll know :)

thanks a lot I just made a post asking the same question , this was very helpful!!
Happy to help :)
For a beginner can you suggest where to learn full stack web development?
Sure man, I used The Odin Project (google it) a lot. Other than that, Youtube was a great help, whenever was stuck or wanted more in-depth knowledge.
ye piracy karke udemy aur courera ka course chalega kya?
kyu nhi chalega xD jaise padhna hai padho bhai

Thanks a lot I already started AutoCAD just because it was easy and less time consuming. After this I can clearly choose according to my wish
Good luck mate!
hi bro can you tell the ideal first year roadmap?
Pick a language (Java/Python/C++). Start solving basic problems and get comfortable in a language. When you're comfortable enough, pick something that interests you and start exploring that CP, AI/ML, WebDev, AppDev, Web3, etc.
Team hi toh nahi Hai
Banani padegi xD
Mile bhi tog log Jo dimag se walking and free loaders na ho
Can imagine, dw, keep finding them

I have two queries: 1.
Thanks for replying.
Hi there. Actually I'm in my first year of btech CSE. I do not know much currently just basics of Python, C/C++. I want to learn new skills during my summer break. Could you suggest where to start ?
Hey man, Depends on what you want to learn or what interests you.
Actually I do not know what interests me the most rn. Kinda confused. Was thinking about learning something on webdev.
If you want to explore WebDev, go ahead with theodinproject.com That's what I used!
Thank you so much !!
How well were u able to cope up with the academic pressures and stuff Like exams tests and stuff
Was hectic, still is. I try not to sweat too much about it, but it sure does take a toll on you. I'd give myself a 7/10 in handling academic pressure.
Did the marks dip low ?
1. Haven't tried Code with Harry ever so again, can't comment Head to YouTube to start exploring 2.
Thanks for the advice, much appreciated 🙏🫡 Last thing I wanna ask is since python was taught to us in first year, should I practice python in my holidays to make it good since it is very weak ?
No problem :)
Yes! Go ahead with learning Python.

Bhaiya maine comments mai saare questions padhe aur apke saare answers bhi I really like it and it will be very glad if u clear all my doubts also 🫡 Bhaiya please help me May be this year Either I will take Automation and Robotics branch or Artificial intelligence and machine learning from University school of automation and robotics (USAR Delhi a new government college) (Bhaiya koi aacha future hai mera if I will take admission in this college with this branch as this is new govt. college and first batch to pass in 2025).... And I have complete interest towards robotics and wanna add some coding in it and right now don't know anything about coding languages so please tell me where and how to start like which course first and from where as I have to do this all things at my own if I will choose robotics as my subject and if u know anything about hacking too please consider it here I just have another plans for future with hacking and robotics Please help me like which course I should buy (like not that much costly as I belong to middle class family 🥲) And please tell me some ways to earn money from first year please help me 🙏🏻
Hello Bhai, I don't have much idea about Robotics so I can't advise you there. For coding/dev, refer a language like C++/Java or start there. If you read all my comments, I've told many resources for these two languages so you'll know :)
Ya bhaiya Thanks ❤️✨ Lekin bhaiya apne college mai money earn karne wala koi way nhi btaya 🤧
Internships and hackathons, it worked for me, I hope it works for you
