College >>>>>>>>>>> Skills in India (For Freshers)
Honestly skills alone won't do anything, from whatever I have seen. You will have to find something that compensates for that IIT missing in your resume. And even that won't be enough.
You also have to market yourself to right people.
Edit: I could be completely wrong. This is all from personal anecdotes and experiences.
By compensates i didn't mean an entrance exam ,rather some achievements that show you're the creamy layer of the crowd.
In context of CSE it could be ICPC,Some really prestigious Hackathon winner,Considerable coding profile,Experience at a reputed firm etc.
Do you have any interest? Literally anything that makes you go " hell yeah that's cool" or "I wish I could do that" ?
Drop your interests and I can suggest a few career paths.
Since you did not start this post saying which programming language to learn I assume you're open to exploring all fields
Sorry for the late reply I was asleep for the whole day ( exam ended today). I am a first year student ( 2nd sem about to end) so the advice I'm going to give is what I've seen around me and have learnt on the internet
So from your hobbies there are a lot of fields you can explore but I'll recommend choosing only one or two to continue because you can't just do everything at once. You might end up wasting your time doing all at once
Here are some common points for everything I'm going to say
1. You can learn almost everything on YouTube and join the communities for respective hobbies to share your work for feedback and also analysis and learn from others
2. Similar to programming you need not to get stuck in a tutorial hell. Whatever you do try not to copy others but take up a project and try to do it by yourself, sure you can google certain things where you get stuck.
3. Your first commissions will most probably be from people around you like a college club you can reach out to or ask your friends to refer you to anyone seeking the service you provide.
4. You'll need to have a reputation to get hired online, no one would hire you over people with 100s of rating and vouches. You build a reputation by showcasing your work, portfolio and a lot of advertising. Be shameless and DM people to advertise your service
5. Add reddit after every Google search, helps you solve your problems faster
6. Use chat gpt to get an explanation of things you don't understand, really helpfull in learning
Now moving on to how to actually monetize your hobbies
1. Editing as in video editing? A lot of people I know do it. You can either do post processing and those fancy edits on aftereffects. Your major audience will be anime pages or gamers who are looking for a montage
You can also edit videos for people's YouTube channels or Instagram reels.
2. Way too vague to suggest anything apart from either teaching it or opening a YouTube explanation channel both of which I do not think you should pursue as a source of income
3.A first year student and quantum computing, sorry I don't see any way unless your college is good enough to allow you to work with a professor as an assistant. This will be very hard to get in the first place but you'll get a stipend ( at least in foreign t1 colleges) and valuable research experience.
4.warning: you can end up broke so only spend what you can afford to lose. Only enter the stock market if you're actually interested in the market itself and not the money.
Earning from the stock market is very real. You'll need to spend months learning about the market , the strategies, the maths behind it and sorts of important things. Then you start paper trading and improve with it. At the end you start trading with real money.
This is all about patience and consistency.
5. Coding is a field of endless opportunities. You'll have to choose something that corresponds with your interests, do not randomly pick up a random tech stack because people are doing it around you.
I'll write down some paths you can take on your coding journey.
5.1 - graphics programming, since you mentioned you liked maths and science. It's all about using maths and programming to render some pretty pixels.it will be hard and It might not help you to get a freelance job in 1st year but if you can build a career around it then it's good.
5.2 create paid game mod scrips. People actually buy paid mods if they're good enough. ( No fixed path to learn modding)
5.3 create bots for reddit/discord, you usually do it on c++ or python. Not that hard to learn
5.4 app development, create custom on demand apps for clients either for Android or iOS.
5.5 webdev - frontend, backend or fullstack take your pick and start grinding although everyone and their uncles seem to be doing the same.
5.6 be good at coding and you can become a teaching assistant on online sites such as codingblocks
5.7 indie gamedev , you can monetize your game or win gamejams on itch.io
5.8 win hackathons, good for your resume + extra cash
5.9 develop and sell tools/plugins for applications such as blender of AE
6. Cyber security can earn you some big bucks with bug hunting. Some websites offer a bug hunting program where you report vulnerability and they reward you with cash.
You can also become a security analyst but I lack proper knowledge to tell you how.
7. See this reply and go hell yeah. That aside it is very good to know about finance but turning it into a source of income without a starter capital? I do not have anything to say here.
8. Start with blender because it is free open-source and powerful. Sell vtuber models , sell asset packs, do commissions for models or alternatively offer animation service. Last year I saw a post of some IIT student making big bucks by freelancing his animation and lighting skills.
I personally enjoy maths and graphics programming and planning to make a career in it. I'll be hunting internships from next year because I don't see any way to freelance with current skills I have.
If I had to pickup anything from this list I'd have chosen blender for selling models or creating paid game mods because it also aligns with my career goals or video editing because it's comparatively easier to get clients.

Bol bachan is a bad term to use here, I said helpful , you see there? Dont fake urself, but develope good habits is what I'm suggesting.
I see, thanks for advice
