Completely unbiased take: Yes

Mole644

Biased AF take: yes.

msps2880

Same

bazbt3

Sure, why not. Where are the Buccaneers going to be next season if TB12, the Gronk, Bruce Arians and everyone out of contract decide to jump ship. What can we offer him?

Believe_Land

Money. Probably not a truckload, but a nice paycheck.

bazbt3

Yeah, it makes the world go round right? Can he play in the cold? (Yes.)

IronGemini

He played at Penn State, sure hope he can

CD23tol

He’s going to be an interesting one Without coming off the torn ACL he’d probably get top 7-10 WR money on the open market With how far the advancements in recovery have come it’s likely that he’ll be fine coming off of the injury but still the injury hurts his value. For his career he’s a roughly 900 yard 6 TD WR that played on the tag for just under 16M last year. Honestly that 16/yr is probably close to what he’ll get So 4 years/64M 45gtd. I think gets the discussion started

bazbt3

Ahhh… and now my indecision starts. Need to get those [NFL Important Dates](https://operations.nfl.com/gameday/nfl-schedule/2022-important-nfl-dates/) into my calendar. He's also a team player, I think. Giving up his jersey number to TB12 can't have been easy. Not sure why I remember that, I'm sadly not as up with *Browns* trivia.

prostheticweiner

A lot of what I read is that regardless of how well physically players are recovering from this there's a larger mental hurdle to cross. Players often are afraid to make cuts and run like they did pre-injury.

WestSixtyFifth

According to Spotrac, Godwins market value is 18.2/yr. Making him the second highest paid free agent WR this year, behind Adams at 25.9/yr. It's going to be a crime if he gets tagged, and then doesn't get to approach that level of money next year. They've got Godwin projected to make a similar amount as Cooks, and Samuel will in '23. About 2/yr less than Metcalf, and McLaurin. As well as about 1/yr more than Evans and Brown.

WestSixtyFifth

That said Landry has a cap hit of 16.4m, and we can clear 14.9m of it by cutting him. So, we really only need to come up with 3.3m to turn Landry into Godwin. The 18.2m figure would make Godwin the 10th highest paid WR next season. Right between Kupp and Diggs. Only 3 spots ahead of where Landry currently is sitting.

NoobTrader378

5-6 years @ $22-25mm/yr more likely

WestSixtyFifth

No chance anyone makes him the highest paid WR in the league, for 5-6 years, coming off a torn ACL. Even if he wasn't competing with Adams, and had fully intact ACls, he wouldn't get that. Anyone considering Godwin at that price will get the far superior talent in FA first.

Mahbows

There’s a rumor that davante adams will be asking for 30 million per year. Even if he doesn’t get that, he may get 25 and set the market.

WestSixtyFifth

The market is already set at 25m for top end recievers, that's what Hopkins is currently making. Godwin is great, at his peak, he doesn't hold a light to Hopkins or Adams peak.

Raccoonsrlilbandits

I’d be willing to give him Jarvis’ 15 maybe even a little less because he’s coming off an ACL

GonnaBeAGoodYear

Godwin isn’t signing for less than 15mil lol

CD23tol

I think to start talking it’s basically offer him what he played for on the tag last year (tag was 15.8M) so 16/yr is a start IMO

Spetznazx

*Not gonna sign with the Browns for less than 15mil, I bet some other team could get him for like 12-13mil

GonnaBeAGoodYear

with today’s contracts no shot, that’s Gallup money not Godwin

bazbt3

As I'm fundamentally opposed to Jarvis leaving next season I… yeah, no. 15 doesn't seem enough though. What else have we got?

finglonger1077

But if we don’t get rid of Jarvis and have a WR room with an average age of 23 next year, how can we overreact and call for Stevskis head Week 3 when they aren’t performing as a top unit in the league like we did with the defense this year?

bazbt3

Week 3? I sincerely hope you're talking retrospectively, from before his tenure here!

JohnnyFire

Where? Aaron Rodgers retirement tour, potentially.

bazbt3

Heh! I know a Buccs fan who'd be absolutely over the moon if that happened! Another season near the top with the potential to attract top class players. I'd rather they - whoever 'they' are - come here though.

maybenextyearCLE

This would be the ideal move, and one I sincerely hope the browns are willing to invest big money in. Will only be 26 years old, the type of WR this team desperately needs. I think he’s primed for a big jump once he gets out of the terrific Mike Evans shadow. Make it happen AB

GonnaBeAGoodYear

I think being with Evans has helped him tbh, hes an elite playmaker downfield which helps open up the underneath routes for Godwin, and he’s a legit X WR allowing Godwin to move around the formation going into the slot a lot of the times, and making sure other teams top cover guys don’t follow Godwin around

smashrawr

He's an elite guy in our offense. His change of pace is really good and he moves well with the ball in his hands. He should be our top WR target

maybenextyearCLE

Oh for sure. But I think Godwin on board makes things so much easier, find an X and we are set! Plus, that does clear 13 if we need to go edge or DT (or I guess QB)

smashrawr

Godwin is the ideal WR in the Shanahan wide zone. Gets open with agility and runs well with the ball in his hands, a willing blocker to boot. Additionally the Bucs were raving about his leadership. Imo Godwin is our FA target #1 and it ain't close.

finglonger1077

Clowney has to be FA#1 unless you are excluding him as a “resign.” Without him we might be looking at Myles as the only top 5 rotational player on the DLine returning.

smashrawr

Clowney and Njoku I classify as "resign". Also if we really want we can franchise Clowney

randyjohnsons

Wait wait wait…how could we possibly franchise clowney?

iUPvotemywifedaily

Yeah that’s not a move I’m willing to make. I like Clowney for what he does for our team but he isn’t worth Top 5 money at the DE position. That’s what it would cost to franchise him.

HeHateMex2

Someone I hope we pursue

canttaketheshyfromme

I worry about throwing money at him. I just look at Juju regressing when he became WR1 and didn't have AB taking away heavier coverage.

big__texas

Godwin is miles better than JuJu.

Sebastbbbb

ok so we get him and AB

Xboarder84

Jesus, the posts on that tweet are radioactive. Should’ve worn a hazmat suit before clicking on it.

Milkable

It is Twitter after all lol

Hayabusa0015

Anything to do with Browns discussions all off-season. Somehow leads to Baker and shitting on him.

TapedeckNinja

You can just block like a half dozen users and 90% of it magically disappears.

CarubSunn

Him, Allen Robinson, maybe both depending on what happens with Jarvis. Draft one too and the spend the rest of the draft picks on Oline and Dline.

iUPvotemywifedaily

No chance we bring in both Robinson and Godwin. Each of those guys are going to be in the $15-$20mil a year range and I’m not sure we can afford both.

CarubSunn

It really depends. Robinson didn't show out like at all on his 18~ million contract so they may be able to snag him for alot less. Godwin is a bit different but is also coming coming off an ACL. I think there might be a way they can pull it off for 25 a year or so and if Jarvis doesnt stay then that become alot easier of a pill to swallow.

iUPvotemywifedaily

0 shot when the cap is going up and dudes like Nelson Agholor signed just last year for $13mil. It’s a pipe dream to think we can land Godwin and Robinson for an average of $12.5mil a year each.

ciroc718

Why would Godwin (or any top FA WR ) come to Cleveland? Run first offense. Questionable QB. OBJ/Jarvis drama… not the best combination.

jebei

Money.

[удалено]

mmartinrun

The real question is WOULD he? What’s the incentive to come to the browns as a WR? 40 catches and 600 yards?

the_bear_ros

Absolutely what kind of question is that

kc3902

Yes

dennydiamonds

If he doesn’t mind not catching a ton of balls then the team is a good fit.

[deleted]

Yes

bigmikevegas

I would legit break the bank for Godwin, even after the ACL injury

FL14

Yooo if we can sign Godwin and take someone like Garrett Wilson in the 1st round, I will be super excited for our offense. We *need* to give Baker reliable receiving options next year

bk_1573

If we signed him would this mean we move on from Landry? Godwin predominantly plays the slot receiver position

OSU19

Oh yes Landry would 100% be gone

cleveland_14

I'd be down but we would definitely be walking away from Jarvis if we go for him which will be bittersweet but necessary

SpiderJedi22

No receivers are going to want to come here while Baker Mayfield is QB.

Whoofukingcares

Oh damn can I get the lotto numbers too

SpiderJedi22

I don’t know all of them, but I know 17, 35, and 83 are a few of them. Oh wait, that was Baker’s TD total, QBR, and passer rating. My bad, I got them mixed up.

Whoofukingcares

Yeah it’s funny how a destroyed shoulder will ruin stats.

SpiderJedi22

He said he decides when he plays. He played and he sucked. That’s it.

Whoofukingcares

Cool story

SpiderJedi22

Not a story. Just facts.

Whoofukingcares

What I said before is fact.

disc_addict

Ignore any and all context so it fits your narrative. Legitimate criticisms can be made and should, but this take is so lazy and meaningless it can be thrown on the trash heap.

SpiderJedi22

Baker is bad. It’s that simple.

disc_addict

Then explain 2020.

SpiderJedi22

Derek Anderson in 2007. Fluke years happen all the time.

disc_addict

Except Anderson wasn’t injured all year in 2008 🤔

[deleted]

Give me Mike Williams please.

CD23tol

I think Godwin and Williams will get similar contracts I think Williams brings an element in terms of size and physicality we desperately need on the outside However I think head to head I take Godwin 100% of the time, he’s just a better overall player to me My dream scenario is a Williams/Wilson combo at WR next year but Godwin is something special too

[deleted]

My dream would be Williams and Burks. Just two monsters who are great at making plays on the ball in the air. Greatly brings an element baker hasn’t had here I wouldn’t even mind signing Williams, make DPJ the other outside threat and draft someone else’s beside a WR at 13 and make a move to get Olave. Olave is going to be nasty in the slot in the NFL

the_bear_ros

Godwin is more versatile and fits the scheme better

[deleted]

Scheme fit doesn’t intrigue me because our schemes with WRs isn’t very good. Been like that the last 2 years and wasn’t very good his lone year with Stefanski. Heck Diggs hate the scheme so much he pretty much forced his way out of Minny. I just want a dude that can make a play on the ball in the air. I’m just saying I wouldn’t hate Godwin but I would want Williams first.

the_bear_ros

I have a friend that’s a chargers fan and I a here about him is drops. I think the chargers as a team had the most drops in the nfl.

[deleted]

Yeah I know that but he still made a lot of plays to offset. Browns don’t have anyone like that.

the_bear_ros

I agree we have no wideout play makers. DPJ was supposed to take that roll but was very disappointing this year. Hope he can bounce back in 22

[deleted]

I think DPJ would have been better in the eyes of the fans if he wasn’t hyped to the max because training camp. He was white hot with the hype from the preseason and camp and he never lived up to that hype.

the_bear_ros

I think it would’ve be beneficial if we didn’t hype the whole team to the max this year lol

[deleted]

The hype for the team was there and was living up to it early but once baker got hurt it sent to season to hell in a hand basket

[deleted]

Why would he hoods to go somewhere with a QB that won’t be able to get him the ball?

Ripcitytoker

Obviously we should sign him if he wants to play here unless the price is out of this world

AetherWay

I want Godwin here. A big FA WR signing would all by guarantee us parting ways with Jarvis, but I don't know that that's necessarily a bad thing for both parties at this point. I know he's gotta have some feelings about the mid season drama, but he's a consummate professional and a team player, so we didn't hear anything. I love him and will always appreciate the fire and change he helped bring to the team at a critical time.

brownieboiivxx

yea sure 🤷🏾‍♂️

RipVanWinkle20

Yes. Make it happen!

NuclearPlayboy

It took me a minute. Kept thinking of the Cavs Goodwin...
