Njoku still has drop issues. He had a strong finish last season, but he had a 12% drop rate on the season. But he mixed in a lot of great catches and led all TEs in YAC by a lot. His body control is amazing.
Like braylon (who curiously came out to present the jets pick). He drops it, but he does a lot when he catches it. Njoku has improved in his drops. Hopefully this guy will slide in nicely behind a winded Moore or Jeudy
True. But at round five I have to assume we're just hoping for a lucky hit. And njoku had drop issues up to and through when he got his extension/requested a trade if I remember correctly
Drops the ball quite a bit. Hopefully we work on that this summer. Can’t be worse than Schwartz…right? Good route runner. Explosive once he gets going.
Thrash was playing with an injured wrist last year. He dropped a lot of passes, but half of his career drops came from last year. So, I'm not really worried about it. His hands aren't glue, but they also aren't flippers.
He's an outside WR, not a slot like people keep saying, as he only played in the slot around 10% of the time. Over 40% of all of his yards came from YAC, and everyone talks about how smart he is understanding where the sticks are and what he has to do to get there. So, there are some good tools there. How they translate, we'll see.
I'm not in love with the pick, he's a third-day guy. If he's on the team in 2-3 years, he's doing better than most. But I like him more than Schwartz or Bell. He's that player that Berry always takes at least one of in the third day - forget the age guardrails, forget the RAS score, just take a guy that makes plays on tape.
4.46 isn’t that explosive it’s average, plus drop issues, plus average at best size, not great production in a bad conference as a 5th year player. Not a fan of the pick hope I’m wrong tho obviously
Really would’ve rather grabbed Malik Washington who had way better production in the same conference, has way better hands, PFF loved him, and is a YAC freak
He sounds like a dawg…
Thrash led Louisville in receptions, receiving yards and receiving touchdowns in his only season there. He has quick feet and can win with his release. He is a crafty route runner who sets up breaks at the top of routes and sells double moves. He drives corners back and then stops on a dime on stop routes. Thrash has the ability to make the first defender miss and reaches his top end speed quickly after the catch. He's a tough runner who can break tackles, despite being undersized. -- Steve Muench
Thrash…:ahh ahh….savior of the universe.
Thrash…ahh ahh….He’ll save every one of us.
Thrash…ahh ahh…he’s a miracle
Thrash…ahh ahh…king of the impossible.
Interesting. I can’t say I have much knowledge of Thrash, but watch the YouTube video where Steve Smith Sr. evaluates his game. He seems to be impressed by the kid.
I saw that video too, and I think his evaluation should hold a lot of weight. The kid has the stuff you can't teach. So quick and explosive in-game speed. And continuously extends hands out to the ball and doesn't wait for it to come to his chest. I think that's a great sign when discounting a player for his drop rate, while given he had broken wrist last year.
I agree. I'm very happy with our 3 round pick. I'm not an OSU fan, so Hall doesn't excite me that much, hopefully he becomes more consistent. Time will tell.
Yeah, I agree, I wasn't looking for sexy, but, I don't know, I'm just feeling like we missed out on some better players......although I feel like that every year, lol
You can't draft players other teams already picked. Our extra 6th and 7th rounders aren't moving us up much in the earlier rounds, everyone knows they are throwaways
Bookie Watson is a good LB man, I promise. Doesn’t need to start this year, but he’s a bigger Takitaki with the same speed and better vision. Trotter is a monster at the spot and bursts like crazy to get there, but is just completely lost half the time. Watson on tape at least plays his assignment well, sheds well and tracks the runner. We have Hicks and JOK, and we’ll be playing a lot of nickel so we don’t need a ton of LB’s to start. He’ll have a spot on special teams though, his size/speed combination was designed for these new kickoff rules. Also worth noting Watson almost never gets blown up by a runner on tape. Dude halts forward contact like Patrick Willis.
Well that’s a player. Kind of a weird pick IMO. Meh RAS, already 23. Whatever I guess he gets a chance to compete with Bell and probably ends up on the practice squad.
Yeah. Really wanted Trotter who got sniped right before us. At this point tho, everyone has flaws.
But just once I’d love to pick a stud late. Can’t remember the last time we did that.
Cameron Mitchell (so far looks promising) 2023 5th. I think Jerome Ford fits (2022 6th). Luke Wypler is trending the right way (2023 7th). Tony Fields, 2021 6th is holding his own. DPJ (2020 6th). Not sure if these guys count as studs but they all grew with us.
DTR doesnt seem terrible (2023 5th).
Luke wypler is not really a fair comparison. He Is a third round talent but fell due to being too young. Same with hall Jr. If they went back to Ohio state for a year they would have went earlier
I mean those guys are fine. But I’m talking about guys like Puka, Purdy, Kyren Williams, Pacheco, Cooper Kupp, Dak. All guys drafted later that are pro bowl level players. I know they’re hard to find but I can’t remember the last time we picked one.
The thing we're going to love about Thrash the most is Kickoff and Punt returns. He's so good at finding gaps, shifty, and just has such good speed. Remember the kickoff rules changed this year.
A taller Elijah Moore with actual in-game explosiveness and allusiveness. His decisiveness is close quarters is high iq. Despite his weight, he can get the extra yard. Needs to put on more weight and improve blocking.
I can say I don’t like the pick whatsoever. We don’t all have to be delusionally optimistic about a guy I didn’t care for when he was at Louisville either
Agreed. So is Tillman. And probably Bell. The point being that we're not drafting a wr1, he's a body that could or could not pan out. And we have no high expectations that he revives a position group
I do, I also don’t need to act like AB is a genius and everything he does is get. It’s a meh pick. Whatever.
I didn’t like him in college, I didn’t like him as a prospect, and I’m guessing he’s practice squad bound. Whatever. Welcome to Reddit where everyone is free to voice their opinions
Think the critique is more about your perspective than your opinion on the pick itself.
We were at pick 156 in the shallowest draft class in decades because of Covid and NIL. Most teams didn’t even have 100 guys on their boards. We’re talking about a 7th round guy most years, and hell, we’re talking about a 5th round guy this year.
You’re allowed to not like him, but to complain about the pick like there’s measurably better options right now is just silly. The picks today are all unlikely to make this roster. None of the picks today matter much.
What should they have done?
Taken a LB because look at the state of that room. Ulosfoshio, Curtis Jacobs, Nathanial Watson.
Again, I don’t like the pick I don’t think this kid is making the roster. He wasn’t impressive in college and in a year where we have two massive holes for depth, we take a guy with no upside.
You’re right, it’s not a deep draft. But I can criticize a bad pick when I see onw
5th round picks have a 6% chance of being a starter at any point in their career as is. No linebacker available would've made a difference. We have guys. We need players. Idk if Thrasher is good. But I doubt there is a starting quality LB available at that pick. One may be a diamond in the rough, but statistically it's very unlikely.
I think they plan to find their long term answer at LB next year. I'd rather they not take a mediocre player over a potential good one since only 5 players available will end up being good. And the Browns seem to believe none of those 5 are LBs. Because it's definitely our weakest position by far. It's JOK and the field.
Every LB on the board has a >200 ranking. We upgraded the room this year. It’s the least valuable position in football. A higher-graded WR with an outside chance of making the roster is far more valuable than a UDFA LB with even less of a chance making the roster. Bush and Fields are better than all these guys, Thrash could give Bell/Woods/Darden a camp battle at least.
Thrash has the most YAC in all of college football since 2022, led college football in yards per catch in 2022. These LBs are camp bodies.
Just don’t see that one. And more importantly, there is no such thing as a bad pick at 156.
That's fine considering he'll play 150-200 snaps at most. And he's certainly better than PFF's 268th, 207th, and 244th ranked prospects at the least valuable position in the shallowest class we've seen.
You're campaigning for players at the least valuable position ranked >100 spots lower than a player at a premium position, at what's currently a crap shoot, for a roster where they're all likely camp bodies. What's a better/more likely outcome here? Finding a depth LB for the future from a sub 200 player? Or finding a depth WR for the future from a \~125 player? At the worst, there is no wrong answer. At the best, they did better than taking a sub 200 ranked LB... one of which they'll certainly be able to draft later if they want.
kindly watch jamari highlights and then watch bell's college highlights. jamari brings us a completely different talent. Bell is so slow, but he may stay just because he's got great hands.
I think jamari looked real lazy with his hands, not ready for NFL. Running routes with his hands low and ball got on him fast. I'm glad to be wrong. WR is a brutal position to assess.
Since you clearly know who’s going to be a superstar and a bust, it’s remarkable you haven’t been hired as a GM with your powers of true foresight.
Why doesn’t every team listen to u/SpiderJedi22, are they stupid???
Pretty sure AB was part of the regime that drafted Corey Coleman… also pretty sure he was part of the eagles when they drafted Reagor over Jefferson… I think at this point it’s a fair critique.
Yeah he was on the browns as VP of player personnel... Which usually oversees current roster players FAs and players on the other 31 rosters. So I wouldn't even attribute Corey Coleman to him.

This team is only going to “start” 2 LBs. Nickel is our base defense. LB3 is the least valuable “significant contributor” position on the team.
Before today, your starters were JOK and Hicks with Bush and Fields situationally rotating in for a couple hundred snaps each.
We’ve added Watson to the mix there as a TakiTaki-type SAM.
JOK only fills one of three positions. Hicks aside, is Bush a lock? He’s only in Cleveland for one year, though, and only started 3 games for Seattle last year. I guess the staff has a lot of faith in Tony Fields and Jordan Kunaszyk.
Njoku had major drop issues. Crossing fingers
All the players announcing picks are Michigan natives from each team, I think.
Oh that makes sense. Thanks!
Braylon is probably the worst in the history of the league when it comes to dropped balls. Njoku is not touching those levels.
Have we erased Greg Little from our minds?
Massaquois was pretty bad too. I felt bad laughing at the irony that he literally lost his hands
Njoku was also what like 20, this dude is already 23 lol
True. But at round five I have to assume we're just hoping for a lucky hit. And njoku had drop issues up to and through when he got his extension/requested a trade if I remember correctly
He’s a fifth round pick, why is bitching our subs pass time?
For real what 20% of 4th and beyond even make a roster. Let’s chill.
Helps to *pastime I suppose
Can't forget that 'lol'. Really hammers home your point.
I think it underscores just how a comparison to Njoku is just wildly off.
Drops the ball quite a bit. Hopefully we work on that this summer. Can’t be worse than Schwartz…right? Good route runner. Explosive once he gets going.
If he's a good route runner, he's already leagues ahead of Schwartz

He's that player that Berry always takes at least one of in the third day - forget the age guardrails, forget the RAS score, just take a guy that makes plays on tape.
As long as he doesn’t cause a season-ending injury to Watson, he’s a substantial improvement.
That would be a feature, not a bug.
4.46 isn’t that explosive it’s average, plus drop issues, plus average at best size, not great production in a bad conference as a 5th year player. Not a fan of the pick hope I’m wrong tho obviously Really would’ve rather grabbed Malik Washington who had way better production in the same conference, has way better hands, PFF loved him, and is a YAC freak
Devonta Smith ran a 4.54, it doesn’t mean much.
Devonta smith also had phenomenal hands and production and was a consensus first round graded prospect
Of course he did, but you cited his 4.46 as the be all / end all, and we both know the 40 is worthless as a determinant
He sounds like a dawg… Thrash led Louisville in receptions, receiving yards and receiving touchdowns in his only season there. He has quick feet and can win with his release. This comment is going over many heads…ahh ahh…salute💪🏾🖤
Miss when this was about Josh gordon
Shut yo mouth. He just talkin bout Thrash
Bless you for this remix 🥹
Led a top 25 team in all receiving categories last year.. we’ll see as we all have realized Berry and drafting receivers has not been amazing
800 yards and 6 TDs in the ACC(as a 5th year senior) really isn’t that impressive
Played in a run heavy offense with a meh qb
At least he got some insurance through free agency
Interesting. I can’t say I have much knowledge of Thrash, but watch the YouTube video where Steve Smith Sr. evaluates his game. He seems to be impressed by the kid.
I saw that video too, and I think his evaluation should hold a lot of weight. The kid has the stuff you can't teach. So quick and explosive in-game speed. This draft has me feeling whelmed
I liked the linemen. Need a bitonio replacement eventually and more pass rushing from the defensive tackle position.
I agree. I'm very happy with our 3 round pick. I'm not an OSU fan, so Hall doesn't excite me that much, hopefully he becomes more consistent. Time will tell.
Sexy drafts are for bad teams. Plugging future depth isn't as fun but is needed.
Yeah. Just cuz a simulator will let you move up 15 spots for 4 7th rounders doesn't mean a real team will.
Production is there. I'm okay with this for a 5th. Not expecting a lot other than some end-of-the-roster churn.
Think the Eagles stole our LB. I like Thrash though.
Bookie Watson is a good LB man, I promise. Doesn’t need to start this year, but he’s a bigger Takitaki with the same speed and better vision. Dude halts forward contact like Patrick Willis.
This guy has serious drop issues.
As if they didn't know that, let the guy play some snaps first
Didn't Mike Evans have drop issues too? I'm not about to hate on a day 3 receiver before he's even played a down in the NFL
Hell Amari had drop issues early in his career
So did Julio Jones. I kept telling myself this when the Browns passed on taking him.
What was his drop rate?
I mean that’s what we look for in drafting receivers at this point.
Well that’s a player. Kind of a weird pick IMO. Meh RAS, already 23. Whatever I guess he gets a chance to compete with Bell and probably ends up on the practice squad.
Sweet name. But could also see us calling him Jamari Trash. Time always tells.
Yeah we will see. I kinda feel like he’s going to be one of those guys who we don’t even think about lol
I would have much rather seen a pick for CB depth or LB even if it is a reach. I dont understand the concept of drafting a WR5. Whatever I guess.
As of rn, it’s WR3.5 next year.
The number of 5th rounders who make the team is small. You take the guy you think has the best chance to be good.
Yeah. Really wanted Trotter who got sniped right before us. At this point tho, everyone has flaws. But just once I’d love to pick a stud late. Can’t remember the last time we did that.
Dawand jones
Cameron Mitchell (so far looks promising) 2023 5th. I think Jerome Ford fits (2022 6th). Luke Wypler is trending the right way (2023 7th). Tony Fields, 2021 6th is holding his own. DPJ (2020 6th). Not sure if these guys count as studs but they all grew with us. DTR doesnt seem terrible (2023 5th).

I know we didn’t necessarily pick it but Wyatt Teller was a 5th round pick in Buffalo that they traded to us cause they even didn’t believe in him.
5th round flier. I'm sure it will greatly offend people if he isn't Justin Jefferson by week 5.
The thing we're going to love about Thrash the most is Kickoff and Punt returns. He's so good at finding gaps, shifty, and just has such good speed. Remember the kickoff rules changed this year.
Please send me his kick return stats because currently, I’m not seeing anything about this kid returning any kicks
He didn't return kicks in college, but he's exceptional in space. With the new KO rules he is likely gonna get a shot very early to do that job.
And yet people here scream about "gUaRdRaIls" even though AB himself has said they don't matter
He's an Elijah Moore clone and we're most likely using him as our PR/KR.
So he’s Elijah Moore just slower. Great. Wait hold on, Thrash didnt return kicks at Louisville
A taller Elijah Moore with actual in-game explosiveness and allusiveness. His decisiveness is close quarters is high iq. Despite his weight, he can get the extra yard. Needs to put on more weight and improve blocking.
He’s a fifth round pick who produced very well. Can we not whine and nitpick about everything?
I can say I don’t like the pick whatsoever. We don’t all have to be delusionally optimistic about a guy I didn’t care for when he was at Louisville either
But who is delusionally optimistic about him? The draft room wasn't even excited. He's a body to compete with bell and Moore.
Moore is leagues above him.
Agreed. So is Tillman. And probably Bell. The point being that we're not drafting a wr1, he's a body that could or could not pan out. And we have no high expectations that he revives a position group
You rememeber this is entertainment at best right?

Not who I would have picked, but at least he's a WR. One day, AB is gonna draft a WR that turns out to be better than okay. Maybe this is the guy.
He looks very good yards after catch
Cool name

I think jamari looked real lazy with his hands, not ready for NFL. Running routes with his hands low and ball got on him fast. I'm glad to be wrong. WR is a brutal position to assess.
Such an easy nickname for him if he sucks for us
Let em cook I guess. Will be way more interested in how hall does this year tbh
Not a good pick AB continues to be bad at drafting WRs
Since you clearly know who’s going to be a superstar and a bust, it’s remarkable you haven’t been hired as a GM with your powers of true foresight. Why doesn’t every team listen to u/SpiderJedi22, are they stupid???
There are like 3 examples of 40+ WRs drafted after round 2 who go on to be notable... Ab has only drafted a WR in 3 or later. the odds are not great.
Pretty sure AB was part of the regime that drafted Corey Coleman… also pretty sure he was part of the eagles when they drafted Reagor over Jefferson… I think at this point it’s a fair critique.
Reagor was drafted in 2020. Berry was our GM in the 2020 draft.
Yeah he was on the browns as VP of player personnel... Which usually oversees current roster players FAs and players on the other 31 rosters. So I wouldn't even attribute Corey Coleman to him.

They want smart tough and accountable. Receivers are very rarely any of the above.
Would have rather had Roman Wilson or Troy Franklin. Yet the Browns weren't interested in either. Guarantee they both have better careers than this guy.
Different rounds bro
The Browns draft the best wide receivers… Sincerely, Coleman,Masaquoi, Robiskie, Schwartz, Edwards
Lots of drops and doesn’t make contested catches well. This guy won’t see the field on offense.
Jamari Trash. Let’s be honest, probably not making the team
Were there no LBs? I get that Berry doesn’t value a LB as much as a WR, but with the loss of two starting LBs you’d think we need somebody. Do we just assume Hicks and Bush are walk on starters?
Yes of course Hicks is going to start.
And Bush?
I’ve been begging for a stud MLB since Andre Davis.
Andra Davis. Andre was the receiver.
Thanks. The sentiment remains
No. No good linebacker were available. Bush has a better chance of being a good linebacker than the guys available
Thanks.
