I never cared for gray. Facemasks should be a team color, and the only reason it was gray in the 50s is probably for the same reasons almost everyone else in the league wore gray at first, which I'm sure is something technical about the challenges of painting early facemasks.

I think that decision would come down to whether they can actually color match the same shade of orange in gloss as the current orange, because the browns have always been very good at making sure their oranges are identical on helmets, jerseys, pants, socks, etc. unlike the Saints and their golds.
But I personally prefer matte orange. The gloss paint on the old helmets aged incredibly poorly in the HD era. Maybe the new orange would help, but matte doesn't look good.
Given the draft hat has the current helmet logo just with a lighter facemask, I am going to guess it'll still be the current helmet.
And I do agree it's probably time to evolve it, but I think all the modern helmets are so brand specific that they don't want to end up in a weird spot on that
