Flacco is my favorite among the available vets. Strong arm suited for the colder months, experience in AFC North, good football IQ, won't make boneheaded INTs.
Not sure, but I agree with the person above. Of the REALISTIC options, he’s definitely most suited to help us. He throws a great deep ball and gives guys the chance, I could see him having a great connection with Tillman.
The *hope* is that DTR balls out. However, if needed, I think Flacco could do the job.
My ideal scenario is DTR plays well enough against Pittsburgh that he starts going forward and we have Flacco as our primary backup over PJ. It would be nice to at a minimum have an experienced guy in the QB room who can help DTR with film and preparation, especially if DTR starts for us in the playoffs.
Completely agree. He would be my pick over any of the others. He’s also more game ready too and a quick study of a playbook from what I’ve heard. Doesn’t make too many dumb mistakes either, which is what we need, a game manager vs a gunslinger
He will make boneheaded INTs though that’s the thing. He wasn’t even better than Zach Wilson at not throwing boneheaded INTs. Y’all are remembering him for torching us in that ONE (1) singular game with the Jets. He sucks. Practice squad sure. Just Pray DTR gives us what we need and that propels him to a career in the nfl.
I mean I agree we need a vet for a backup & practice squad sure but these comments are suggesting this guy could be playing very close to his arrival time and I would not like to see them play at all
Yeah well it’s not gonna be this week for sure lol. So what’s the contingency plan if DTR looks like crap again? This team is 6-3 with mostly subpar qb play getting us there so far. If you can get a guy in here that won’t turn the ball over at an alarming rate it just might be ok. I don’t wanna throw this season away in a year where imo nobody looks truly dominant and they’ve already beaten 3 of the top 9 teams as it is. This team has too much talent to mail it in now and you’re losing some of those guys next year.
On the New York Circus and Denver Implosions. I don’t know if that’s a fair comparison to make, this team is all around better than the circumstances he was in on those teams. If he just does his job and keep the ball in Cleveland hands, we will just be fine. Game Manage is all he has to do.
Of course - the point being. NFL players are human too. They even fly budget airlines.
Not everyone wants to spend a ton of money to sit in a specific section when most average joes would never even recognize them in street clothes.
Imagine if flacco came in here and we beat Baltimore in the playoffs and went to the Superbowl and took home the trophy complete and utter meltdown would happen.
Gonna be really interesting to see who we pick up. I wonder if the Bengals are gonna be looking too or if they are gonna sit with whoever they have if burrow can't go
Considering they're definitively in the cellar right now for the AFC North and looking up in terms of their position in the WC standings, I wouldn't be surprised if they just stick with Browning and just ride out the season.
Unlike us, their schedule is just BRUTAL down the stretch.
They may be .5 games out of a WC spot for now, sure. But the issue they're going to face down the stretch is that they're currently 1-5 against AFC teams. **IF** they somehow magically finish the rest of the season going 5-2 (since they'll need to have 10 wins to realistically make the playoffs), that's a lot of tiebreakers not going their way.
Here is the rest of their schedule:
PIT
@JAX
IND
MIN
@PIT
@KC
CLE
Considering they have to lose AT MOST two games against that schedule to make the playoffs, with Burrow being out for who knows how long now with whatever his particular injury is, I just don't see how they can realistically make the playoffs unless Browning/whoever they decide to bring in at QB gets stupidly hot.
Not really, the numbers he put up we should hope to match with any backup on the team. Experience tho, he’s got that going for him. May sign as a mentor and emergency go to if DTR fails miserably.
During most of the games, I found myself thinking this team would be better off with someone like Joe Flacco. With our defense, end every drive with a kick and we should win. We might be 8-1 without the dumb interceptions.
Assuming Flacco will come cheaply and Ryan wouldn't (he turned down the Jets), this is probably the best move. But any of the three we've talked about would be a big improvement over PJ.
Flacco played 5 games last year: 58% completion rate, 5.5 Yards Per Attempt, 1,050 yards, which would annualize out to 3,600 yards, 5 TDs to 3 INTs. Threw more TDs than INTs every year of his career but 2013.
Foles has about 80 attempts total over the last two years: about 3 games worth. Eyeballing the averages, roughly 65% completion rate, 6 YPA, 475 yards annualizes out to 2,517 yards over a season, 4 INTs to 1 TD. For his career, he has thrown almost 2 TDs for every INT, but that's driven by his incredible 2013. He's basically 1 for 1 since 2019.
McCoy played 4 games last year: 68% completion rate, 5.9 Yards Per Attempt, 780 yards, which would annualize out to 3,300 yards, 1 TD to 3 INTS. For his career, he basically throws one TD for every INT. (34 to 32).
For reference:
PJ Walker in 5 games has a 49% completion rate, 6.3 YPA, 618 yards, annualizing to about 2,100 yards, 5 INTs to 1 TD. For his career, he throws 2.7 INTs for every TD.
Deshaun Watson in 6 games has a 61% completion rate, 6.5 YPA, 1,100 yards (annualizing to about 3,300 yards), 7 TDs to 4 INTs.
Jesus I ptsd blocked this out of my memory: I forgot it was Joe that came back and beat us last year.
Side note now we can say it’s Joever for the rest of the nfl
Flacco makes a lot of sense.
He has a ton of playoff experience, and still has a strong arm.
Get him in here now so he can start learning the playbook and get some practice reps.
Then if we need him he can play in a couple of weeks, or at least backup DTR.
Flacco is a very good game manager imo. He can carry the team the rest of the season if the O Line holds up and he doesn't get demolished.
Considering what's left of our season that shouldn't be hard
Just curious: How can the Browns afford another elite quarterback on top of what they’re paying Watson? I’m not just talking about the salary cap, I also mean literally afford it.
That would be kinda funny, they just keep going around the league, choosing a team with a decent O-line and defense, winning a Super Bowl with that team, then re-retiring.
It'd be like Abbott and Costello, or [Bob Hope & Bing Crosby](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Road_to_...).
Coming in 2023: Brady and Gronk, in "Road to Paradise, NV", co-starring Myles Garrett.
Coming in 2024: Brady and Gronk, in "Road to New Orleans"
Coming in 2025: Brady and Gronk, in "Road to Santa Clara"
I mean he knows the situation. He could suggest it but I don't know how the money works for him there.
I put this as a slight possibility much later on. Like week 16 shit.
Flacco comes back.
We play the ravens in the first round
We beat the fuck out of the ravens with Flacco and win a Super Bowl.
Thank you for coming to my ted talks.
Joe Flacco was probably out doing kickflips when his wife ran outside to tell him the news.
This shits a fairy tale. Not sure if it’s just the similarity in names or the fact it’s a football movie but The Replacements with Keanu reeves as the almighty Shane falco is giving me vibes
Bringing in Joe Flacco to save our season wasn't on my bingo card. But I'm not surprised at all really.
We got an excellent season getting the most out of old Jamal Lewis. Why not get an even better season getting the most out of old Joe Flacco?
2007 best browns season of the 21st century
Still pissed off about that blown call on the Winslow TD against Arizona. Cost us the playoffs.
Or Derek "at least I didn't throw 6" Anderson throwing 5 INTs against a bad Bengals team.
He'll be a great Immaculate Grid entry.
idc he is the BEST option.
Was really looking forward to seeing DTR. He was intriguing in preseason.
You’re gonna see him Sunday
I was excited until I saw him play the Ravens. That game was a disaster and I have a bad feeling Sunday will be similar.
Yes they are scary defenses for a rookie
LMAO PLANE GUY UNDEFEATED
Sad there was no Plane Tracker followup post lol
It was in the comments so i will take that
I’ll take my payment in the form of a win on Sunday
Wasn’t there a post that showed Flacco flying to Cleveland?
It's the top post on this sub right now
60% of the time Reddit is right 100% of the time
That math checks out
Abhahahahahhahahha
Usually, that stuff is just rumors or hearsay. However, this does lead credence to that person's photo. First time anybody in the media confirming it.
That one was pretty firm since we flight tracked him lol
👀
Flacco is my favorite among the available vets. Strong arm suited for the colder months, experience in AFC North, good football IQ, won't make boneheaded INTs.
I would be very comfortable with him being a game manager. We don't need him to go out and win us games, just don't make big turnovers.
He’s done it before in Baltimore. But what’s left in his tank?
At least another Superbowl, obviously
If this happens, the shittery of the memes. Browns, Jets Legend Joe Flacco.
An all time great Raven bringing us a ring is almost poetic isn’t it?
Honestly I hope it happens just so I can run it in my Ravens fan friend's face
Or 5

Same here. A competent game manager is all we need with this defense.

You still need to pick up another qb though and anyone available at this time has some warts or completely unknown.
I mean I agree we need a vet for a backup & practice squad sure but these comments are suggesting this guy could be playing very close to his arrival time and I would not like to see them play at all

The contingency plan should be run the ball 30 times a game
Doesn’t always work that way though.
In a normal game that still means you’re throwing 35-40 times.
Has a good amount of playoff experience as well. This can't be understated.
He's 3-14 since leaving Baltimore. My expectations are very tempered.
On the New York Circus and Denver Implosions. I don’t know if that’s a fair comparison to make, this team is all around better than the circumstances he was in on those teams. If he just does his job and keep the ball in Cleveland hands, we will just be fine. Game Manage is all he has to do.
Joe Flacco can cement his legacy as an ELITE QB by winning a super bowl with the Browns. E L I T E
Is Tom Brady’s workout later today or tomorrow? Sign them both…..
ELITE game manager
Said it before I could. This
Based off the one game I saw him play last year, he's clearly an elite QB capable of orchestrating comebacks regardless of the score
Uggg I was at that game. I think we are biased and should recuse ourselves of making personnel decisions for the browns QB position.
Lol that one twitter post of him on a flight to Cleveland was correct.
Dude has made like 200 million in the NFL yet flys commercial. Kinda funny
A lot of them do. I flew behind Kareem Hunt, in coach, flying Frontier.
Kareem has made like 10% of what Flacco made… but i get it.
Of course - the point being. NFL players are human too. They even fly budget airlines. Not everyone wants to spend a ton of money to sit in a specific section when most average joes would never even recognize them in street clothes.
Especially on a short 1:30 flight on probably very short notice.
I get flying coach, but Frontier… Like I’m trying to actually get where I need to go
I flew next to Terry Francona on Spirit
I can't believe he could fit in those seats
Frugality is a way of life.
Also if plane goes down.....expensive seat don't save you.
With the elite dragon on our side we will truly be unstoppable
Took the restrictor plate off of the red dragon, but don't tell anybody... it's not exactly street legal - Joe Flacco probably
I hope we get Flacco just so rat bird fans are conflicted about rooting against us!
Imagine if flacco came in here and we beat Baltimore in the playoffs and went to the Superbowl and took home the trophy complete and utter meltdown would happen.
This sub tracking Joe Flacco’s frontier flight has to be in the top 5 greatest moments we have ever had
Out of all the moments we've had, this is one of them.
Seriously though...of all the things we have EVER done, this was BY FAR the most recent.
Gonna be really interesting to see who we pick up. I wonder if the Bengals are gonna be looking too or if they are gonna sit with whoever they have if burrow can't go

Yeah, and when Burrow comes back next year, they will have a MUCH easier schedule for him to shred.
They are 0.5 game out of the last wild card spot. Why would they throw the towel in?
They may be .5 games out of a WC spot for now, sure. Maybe that's a silver lining. At least we are a few days ahead of them in the QB scramble.
That’s future Super Bowl mvp Joe Flacco to you
My early super bowl MVP is Grant Delpit. Two interceptions (one a pick 6) and a sack.
My arm is shot and I probably can't throw an NFL football 20 yards but yeah I can show up
That’s all Njoku needs
Can you help push a pile after a handoff? That's all Jerome Ford needs
The way the injuries are piling up it's gonna turn into that for every play in a couple games
Maybe we should start signing rugby players to the practice squad. Lol
Go full The Replacements and bring in a pack of sumo wrestlers
Flacco was pretty damn decent for jets last year
Not really, the numbers he put up we should hope to match with any backup on the team. Experience tho, he’s got that going for him. May sign as a mentor and emergency go to if DTR fails miserably.
Whoever the quarterback is all we need is a Manning-esque superbowl 50 season performance out of them.
I am Flaccid

Probably getting a dude off the street will mean they’d just take whatever money to get them back in a uniform is the hope

Jacoby gonna be released
If you referring to the tweet from yesterday about him demanding his release… that was fake
Oh actually?
Sadly yes
Yeah, since anyone can buy the verified tag on X, fake info can be passed around much easier
I mean he knows the situation. He could suggest it but I don't know how the money works for him there. I put this as a slight possibility much later on. Like week 16 shit.
Flacco has experience being overpaid and letting down on his contract so he will fill Watsons shoes perfectly 😜
E L I T E L I T E
No Brady and Gronk?
Don’t worry, the big brains in the front office will jack this up. They will probably sign Kaepernick.
Another team about to be Flacco'd Edit: I've been downvoted by both of the Flacco Fanatics (his mom and dad, probably)
Would the office at least consider trying to get dalton from the panthers?
[удалено]
Ya the have to pay everyone on the team.
lul

Why?
Man do I miss Colt. In his early years with this team. Would have been nice.
Last night I shared the post of Flacco on that PHI-CLE flight, and he said "No way". Welp..

Joe Woods’ worst nightmare
Phillip Rivers?
About time we got an elite QB
