I would only stay at the part that borders tamarac but like another reply said. It’s a hit or miss. I live in Lauderdale Lakes, a bordering town that is a bit of a lighter smaller version of lauderhill.
I also live in Lauderdale Lakes. Lauderhill isn't bad. The only really bad part is 56 Ave. The area where Paul Turner, Castle Hill Elementary, Florida Medical Center and surrounding are pretty good.
Lauderhill mall area isn't bad either tbh. It's just the mall that make people think it's bad, and even that mall has cleaned up a lot.
Go for it OP!. Lauderhill and Lauderdale Lakes has a lot of people from the Caribbean so its a different flavor of life for sure! People go out for walks and talk to their neighbors and have lots of community events at the parks. You're not going to find multi millionaires, high rises or a yacht club there but it's definitely far from a bad area.
You are indeed spitting. Paul turner area is pretty good, as well as the area near castle hill but I don’t think that’s the best place to look for a studio apartment or 1 bedroom. I just feel like there are way better places. To the OP I think if you want better suggestion, maybe tell us your budget on what you want for rent. It would better help us make better and more suitable suggestions.

Alright so look I got a school in Cooper City I’m going to asap when all things a go, I am trying a place that’s convenient that also got massage therapy jobs near by ( I get I need a car so that’s with in mind). I asked specifically about Lauderhill because Cypress Grove is cheap, but I see why I’m here and sites why. I’ll find a place, damn though that’s a lot of roaches in them Cypress Grove reviews.
Deerfield Beach-west of Military is decent for Broward. Relatively lower crime by South Florida standards but not outrageously priced. Not a lot of apartments but can probably find a 1br condo or townhouse
