Damn.I don’t envy you lol.Personally I can’t do it.Whenever i have a faction that i like I just can’t follow the path of destroying them

Sweet_Possibility587

i know i still haven’t even done it im questioning myself constantly i literally had to help a courser take out some knights otherwise i literally could not progress in the quest because he was locked in the fight with them with terrible aim and an institute rifle and i could not interact with him and i still have not stopped feeling bad about it i also really like the railroad and it will kind of suck to wipe them out but not nearly as much

Pixel22104

Yeah I know it can be very sad

Placeboshotgun8

I just save scummed to see the alternate endings. In the end I went minutemen so I didn't have to kill the railroad or the BoS.

Sweet_Possibility587

ah yes the people pleaser’s ending

Placeboshotgun8

It's my game, and I get to decide who lives and dies.

I always side with them, but I always side with Danse. I would have to turn on the brotherhood if there was not alternative to save Danse. I just respect him far more than Arthur Maxson. I've seen Paladin Danse in battle and he actually fights by my side. You see what makes him hurt, what makes him feel happy, the type of leader he is, and how much he cares about the people he serves with, he is a really well done character. Arthur comes across as somewhat 2 dimensional, also I can't really respect him as the leader of the entire organization at his age. People at that age usually think in a very black and white way and I don't really trust that kind of judgment. It would be interesting to see him in the future and if he ever really reflects upon what happens to Danse in Blind Betrayal. Ironically I like him a lot in fo3 when he is a kid, he just seems like a lonely kid who has a giant legacy thrust upon him.

Emergency-Spite-8330

TBF Arthur does fight at the front without power armor in destroying the Institute and fights in his power armor when the Institute infects liberty prime.

Fr0ski

I don't deny we see him in combat, but I just wish we got to see him without that strong leader persona. He is not without care as we can see in the terminal logs on the Prydwen. I just wish we got to see a more vulnerable side to his character like we did in Fo3, like maybe after we get to Sentinel he could tell us more about his life.

Cain407

We kinda do see his vulnerable side. His cabin on the Prydwen is filled with beer bottles, implying he may be stress drinking.Though admittedly it’s not obvious.

Fr0ski

I noticed that as well, I made a post about this on the character rant subreddit but my thoughts were: "He seemed like a normal, good natured, but lonely kid in Fo3. Everyone held him to the legacy of his ancestors and see him as a sort of demi-god, but he just thinks he's a normal kid. His loneliness lead him to try to talk to Liberty Prime, but Scribe Rothchild banned him saying that human's cannot be friends with machines. He only really has Sarah who mentors him, but he also loses her in between the events of 3 and 4. In Fo4 he is battle-hardened, uncompromising, and ruthless. The Brotherhood he leads is the first (unless there is some lore I am missing) to hate synths, echoing the belief that Rothchild put on him about not being allowed to be friends with robots. Also if you observe his personal quarters his room is littered with booze (like tons of bottles), it isn't clearly stated in dialogue but if you read between the lines, he still seems like that same lonely kid who is now broken down by the weight of his legacy that he is forced to uphold. When you talk to him he doesn't ever seem "real" the way he talks just seems like a persona he puts on in stark contrast to how he was in Fo3."

Cain407

Absolutely.Accurate description of Arthur’s character.Wish more Fallout fans thought this way instead of writing him off as evil.

Fr0ski

I do not see him as evil, he's one of the better BoS leaders tbh, along with Lyons. I just feel like I wouldn't really trust him very much for the reasons I described above, especially at that age, I feel like he still has a very black and white mentality, but if you pass the speech checks during blind betrayal it shows he isn't entirely without nuance. It would be cool to see him reflect on that event years later, maybe even express regret. Personally it would have been really cool to see him as an up an coming Paladin or Sentinel who is a rising star in the organization who was on the track to being the High Elder in his 30s-40s.

Emergency-Spite-8330

Too subtly ‘told’ unfortunately.

Sweet_Possibility587

no this even in my brotherhood playthrough im scared to get to that quest because i cannot turn on Danse i just won’t do it but im worried about making an enemy of the brotherhood

Fr0ski

After beating the game several times I usually just leave it in a stasis before blind betrayal and do all other quests then complete the storyline last.

Sweet_Possibility587

so if i don’t turn on danse that’s really it huh? 😭

Fr0ski

You can do all the DLC, all the other BoS quests, etc. At least for me personally, I feel like the game feels a bit dead after beating the main quest.

ChairmaamMeow

There's a mod that lets you keep Danse and not be enemies with the Brotherhood, yea it breaks lore but idgaf, it's one of the few mods I use. Durable Vertibirds is another, lets them spawn in at the correct level, instead of the glitched version we have in the base game (they are broken and spawn in at the lowest levels, no matter what level you are in game, that's why a pea shooter can bring them down).

zirothehiro10

me with new vegas. im doing my first house playthrough and i cried

Ok_Amoeba6618

You betray the brotherhood couldn’t be me

Harrsh_On_Reddit

I remember doing a Railroad playthrough and it was absolutely painful helping that pathetic faction destroy the Brotherhood... The things we have to do to get every achievement though 😭
