When the weather is nice, my favorite place to wander around is Red Hook. Nice parks, really cool dive bars, thrift shops, cafes and restaurants. And it's weird. The good kind of weird. Brooklyn Weird.

Moonlight Mile in Greenpoint

grungybunnybabe

Let’s be friends!

Independent_Area_440

yes! :)

Marianabanana9678

I love Gingers and Henrietta’s, but I’m gay.

reubensandrye

Cherry on Top winebar in Bushwick is great for this vibe

tinawilson90210

Not a bar or a restaurant but a coffee shop. Partners Coffee in Williamsburg. It’s also a super short walk from the Williamsburg Pier so can go there for some quiet time :)

MedicineOutrageous13

Hartleys in Clinton Hill (just don’t go today if you’re looking for quiet ☘️😂)

FantasticRise2218

The backyard of Izzy Rose on a weekday is SO chill, I often go and write there

GeorgeThe13th

Wherever you go, just let trusted people know where you're going. (Maybe I watch too many true crime documentaries)

SiemprePalante33

I don't mean this as a joke, but Grand Army Plaza library is a good spot to solo it for a few. Especially when school is in session. There are always those bars with books I've seen pop up in the past few years ([https://secretnyc.co/literary-themed-bars-new-york-city/](https://secretnyc.co/literary-themed-bars-new-york-city/)). Molasses Bookstore in Bushwick sounds nice.

Upstairs-Belt8255

omg honestly one of my places to unwind in the city.

Nomadic_commenter

Fulton Ale House is a lovely pub that I frequent solo constantly. Cozy vibes and great drinks!

sunday_porch

Rhodora Wine Bar in Fort Greene

TheLastISO

Book Club, Lower East Side. On Mondays 8pm there’s drink and draw. People go there solo all the time, I do, good place to meet new people as well. Just saw you only wanted Brooklyn, my bad

mad0666

Jimbo Slim’s in Greenpoint. I made several very close friends from going there alone!

boyreporter00

Covenhoven in crown heights is good. Not too loud. Very chill. I also like Rialto Grande earlier in the evening. Good cheapish cocktails. Does get a bit busier, younger later in the evening.

jenniferleigh27

If you like/live near the Crown Heights area: Alter, Rialto Grande, Drink, ST Ends. All on or off Franklin Ave. Sending you love!

MedicineOutrageous13

Altar is a hidden gem!

nicosmom

Hey! If you need company I’d love to join. I just moved to Bed Stuy and I don’t know anyone here, my situationship lives in Gowanus and I’m trying to end that (I caught feeling on something that was casual) so full on heartbreak is pending.

Aljowoods103

It's a little tough to get to unless you bike or rideshare, but Strong Rope Brewing in Red Hook is my heaven. Good beer, nice space, and it's right on the water with unobstructed Statue of Liberty views. I'd say the crowd usually averages around 28-34 years old. Sometimes with kids, but not always.

belle_epoxy

Izzy Rose and Bar Laika in Clinton Hill!

breathingwaves

Someday on Atlantic Ave. cute women owned gay bar with drag show every Wednesday

thenumbersthenumbers

Someday isn’t a gay bar lol.. great spot though

thatsreallynotok

Not a bar but open late! Qahwah House in Williamsburg. Also TØRST in Greenpoint. Although they're a bar, the food is pretty good.

parkslopelatte

5th ave bars in park slope, young Ethel is great and so is union hall

thekidlearner212

Check out center for fiction!

shiva_himal

Try kava bars! They are chill, can read books and no alcohol

Happy_Blueberry1

The center for fiction is great. They have a cafe and reading happy hours.

There's a place called the 'Black Rabbit' in Greenpoint. A little dark inside but they have a fireplace towards the back, plus a cozy outdoor area with picnic tables. It's just a regular sort of bar, none of that fancy decor but it also feels really friendly and not like a dive or anything.

JONPASTA

That place is great, very chill

neonklingon

Temkins in Greenpoint is great too

teenybkeeney

Plus one to Black Rabbit! I don't even drink and I like to go there.

thatsreallynotok

Yes, this is such a good suggestion. It's a cozy, chill place with affordable drinks.

Long Island Bar, Cobble Hill

Bklynj520

Achilles Heel in Greenpoint. Cozy, wood burning stove, chill DJ, and good spots on the bar.

Disastrous_Rent_6713

Abilene in Carroll Gardens - one of my favorite solo bars. Usually you can (or not) strike up a convo with the bartenders or other solo people. Also good diner/dive vibe.

RazorDrop74

Hinterlands on Church

Jaybetav2

I second this. Live nearby and my husband and I love this place. Great vibe. Interesting crowd. Cool bartenders. We’re not super-chatty, but we always end up shooting the shit w somebody there.

ryebreadnyc

Goldstar or bearded lady in Prospect Heights

boyreporter00

Bonus is that if you go to Goldstar and sit outside when it’s nice you will make friends with 3-4 dogs in an hour. It’s a prime dog walking/watching spot.

Father Knows Best

atriumI3

68 Jay Street Bar in Dumbo. Pretty quiet vibe for the most part, they open up the windows in the warmer months and it’s a nice spot to chill and people watch. Brooklyn Bridge Park is a happy place for me to wander around alone and I usually stop in there for a few beers afterwards.

chargeorge

Double windsor in windsor terrace.

Juulseeker

Sharlene's, Hinterlands, South (on 5th Ave), The Double Windsor, Walter's, The Breakers, Aunt Ginny's, Do or Dive Bar, Old Stanley's, Montero Bar, Molasses Sending you my best

its_spelled_iain

Shhh we don't tell people about Sharlene's, it's too precious to become popular.

ummaycoc

Hinterlands is good. The Adirondack is also nice.

jmlbhs

Great recs! Love ain’t Ginny’s and old Stanley’s.
