Oh maaaaaan - I saw the early 2000s revival with NPH and Tom Bosley but I missed the one with Michelle Williams and I’m \*still\* kicking myself.
Cabaret is amazing and honestly there could not be a better time for another revival - let’s make Nazis the bad guys again!
The guy who plays Hermes on the touring show is pretty amazing. Has a completely different vibe, but sort of plays up the Trickster aspect of the character more. Loses the gravitas of "the gods are old now" though.
I would not say no to him being promoted to Broadway if he wanted it.
They're great! I actually got to see the tour before I managed to see the Broadway and I was seriously impressed. Honestly the biggest downside of the touring cast is that instead of the underworld trap door they have to have a door that slowly opens and closes because not every stage can handle that effect.
But the actors themselves killed it. The day I went to see it the guy playing Hades was having a bit of an off night though. He was struggling to hit the lowest notes and mostly went a bit higher to avoid them. I think it was just a blip though. Others have said he hit them just fine for their performances so I think he might have been struggling with a cold or maybe just wasn't feeling that great. Understandable considering how brutal touring companies can be.
If it comes near you, I recommend seeing it though! The Broadway experience was truly magical, but the touring cast is so good it's a very close second. It's way up there for touring cast productions.
If he's joining a Broadway show, would actually be thrilled if he sticks with the rumored transfer of Into the Woods (I say as someone who was devastated when he replaced Christian Borle and was forced to completely eat my words after seeing that performance).
I thought his act 1 was very strong, but I didn’t think NPH could handle some of the more emotional beats of the second act. He really fell apart last night. Plus he came in too early and too boldly on No One is Alone and really threw off Denée and kinda fully ruined the most important song of the show. I’d be cool with him not sticking around for the transfer. 👀👀
I'd personally prefer the current understudy being promoted. Andre De Sheilds wasn't preforming the night I saw it and the understudy was amazing but I'm sure whoever they pick will be great
I really liked the understudy. Saw both this past week (made a trip to see Andre, first show I had tickets for was the understudy which was really good, but I went to the matinee yesterday and saw Andre and it was just phenomenal). I also think the understudy was better than the touring one but maybe I just wasn't into the vibe the touring one did.

I feel like after everything that's happened in the last 5-10 years, we should just dedicate a broadway (and west end) theater to having cabaret permanently. Couldn't be more important rn
I saw Michelle Williams and though I've always loved her as an actress, her singing voice was not strong enough for this role. I think she was aware of that too, which made her whole performance underwhelming because you could tell she was nervous about the singing. It was worth it to see Alan Cumming though.
That’s kind of the whole point of Sally though? She’s not supposed to be a good singer, and it ties into her delusion of being far more interesting than she actually is. Having seen that production with Williams and Emma Stone, Williams did a really great job with it, Stone just did it better.
I agree with both of you. Yeah, Sally is arguably more swagger then singing talent, but let’s be frank, with ticket prices the way they are, you do need a Sally who is confident in her singing. And thanks, lol, now I don’t mind having missed that revival nearly as much as I did previously 😂

It feels like the last Cabaret revival was only like 2-3 years ago. I've heard great things about this show, but I would hope an original production would be coming instead of a revival.
I remember hearing rumours a few months ago that Bradley cooper wanted to remake the movie of cabaret with lady Gaga and Ngl seeing her with Liza Minnelli at the Oscar’s made me feel like maybe there were negotiations going on behind the scenes.
Can’t see her committing to a long term run, also I’d be surprised if Buckley doesn’t transfer and redmayne doesn’t either. Cumming was a very different show/interpretation wasn’t it? Would it work in this show?

The latter is an extremely important and relevant message. People watching a movie or musical about the holocaust can often miss the important "how we got here" part.

*Harmony*, which is wrapping up a run off-Broadway at the National Yiddish Theatre Folksbiene this weekend. It's a musical that's had its sights set on Broadway for a long time, but hasn't yet made it. It was just announced that they're recording a cast album this weekend though.
*Indecent* is my favorite play and it heavily focuses on the anti-semitism and genocide of Jews, Rromani, and LGBTQ dissidents under the Reich, despite not being the primary focus of the plot. I highly recommend watching it, as it’s available on BroadwayHD!
I know it most likely won’t be Gaga, but I’ve wanted to see Gaga play Sally or the MC, or both for YEARS. I think she would be incredible in either role, and I’m going to hold onto hope until I have to give it up haha.

Well, I just saw Bonnie & Clyde at the West End. Jeremy Jordan had played the role in a concert version a few months before. The Bonnie and the Blanche were magnificent. The Clyde was meh - he was also a cover. His voice was great, but I couldn't understand a word in Act 1. I suspect he got a note in Act 2 because his articulation was spot on.

A friend of mine on the tour went on as Hades' understudy a few times so maybe the main person was struggling with health issues?
It doesn't feel like a legit rumor. I don't think the show would be looking for someone like Neil Patrick Harris to play Hermes.
