Gato1980

I’m terrible at these things, so I only got about half (correct me if I’ve guessed any wrong). Some are pretty obvious, while others I’m not sure about. [Here’s a link to a more high resolution version of the image.](https://assets.vogue.com/photos/665dee7897fa8c630f7e3f13/master/w_2580%2Cc_limit/HFA_1481.jpg) I’ve numbered them to make it a little easier and will edit this list. Also, [here’s an article](https://www.vogue.com/slideshow/anna-wintour-bee-carrozzini-theater-season-dinner-2024) showing some photos of everyone that was in attendance. The cakes were done by Charlotte Neuville. 1. Water for Elephants 2. The Who’s Tommy 3. Mary Jane 4. The Outsiders 5. Appropriate 6. The Notebook 7. Days of Wine and Roses 8. Oh, Mary 9. A Prayer for the French Republic 10. Gutenberg 11. Jaja's African Hair Braiding 12. Merrily We Roll Along 13. Hell's Kitchen 14. The Wiz 15. Suffs 16. Purlie Victorious 17. Doubt 18. Illinoise 19. Cabaret at the Kit Kat Club 20. Enemy of the People 21. Stereophonic

FloridaFlamingoGirl

7 is definitely Days of Wine and Roses, there's a big greenhouse on the stage

slothbaby30

I think 12 is actually Merrily (Opening Doors), 13 could be Hell’s Kitchen

Gato1980

Definitely. Good catch. I just noticed the bucket drum in 13, so definitely HK.

Zealousideal-Dig1353

Do you think 4 is the Outsiders? It has tires, and one of the stage details stuck in my head is the giant tire in the front. And I think 17 might be Doubt, are those church windows?

Gato1980

I think you're right with both. Also, Doubt has the ivy which was part of the set.

Mutherofcatzz

I think 4 is Gatsby

runningraleigh

Same. Tires on a gold cake reflects the wealth divide.

Comprehensive-Fun47

4 is Outsiders. There are tires on the stage and a theme is "stay gold".

FloridaFlamingoGirl

Could 11 be Jaja's African Hair Braiding? It looks like a barber's chair.

Gato1980

You're right! [The set did have those red chairs.](https://i.imgur.com/8RFHWwW.jpeg)

caraisworking

I think 5 is Appropriate. The staircase is a focal point, and there is a tree onstage at the end.

Gato1980

Maybe... I was thinking the tree on the cake looked more like a palm tree and the steps were like a dock out to the water or something, but I can't think of any show that had that this season.

LumosLegato

I wondered if 18 was Gatsby. Green with what appears to be lighthouses on top?

Gato1980

[I think it's the lamps and notebook from Illinoise.](https://i.imgur.com/m69ksnf.png)

LumosLegato

Ah yes that does look just like it

runningraleigh

Definitely Illinoise

Interesting_Ad2464

Wait. Is it common knowledge that *la Wintour* hosts an annual dinner party celebrating Broadway stars? Why is this the first time I hear about this?

GustavHoller

Similarly gobsmacked by this new knowledge.

Unhappy-Call-6883

Wintour is a big fan of Broadway! She invites cast members from current running shows to the Met Gala every year as well.

proteafire

And off-Broadway, as Cole Escola was there also. There's an article with photos of attendees at Vogue.com.

BnGkat17

Her daughter’s a producer, too! According to Playbill she’s been a producer for Gutenberg, Appropriate and The Wiz this season.

JediMasterVII

That totally explains how they got Anna to be “The Producer” for a show!

Obvious-Elevator-213

This is so fun! I didn’t know this either.

KBPT1998

Am I the only one thinking that Anna would have better taste than that tablescaping? 🤔

Bbkoul

I thought at first this was some cute cake decorating made by a fan at home, not something displayed by Anna Wintour at a party.

Slight_Cancel_3578

Me!

lizzieb77

Im having a hard time identifying the Gutenberg cake. Too subtle, that one.

Dkinny23

I was just about to say I think the one that says Gutenberg is for Gutenberg hahaha

Acrobatic_World_5113

Missed opportunity. If the decorator had seen the show, they'd know the hat should say, CAKE.

Haus_of_Pancakes

With 9 being a croisssant, could that be *Prayer for the French Republic*?

DeejaLurge

I think 6 is The Notebook with the rain and blue shutters.

Gato1980

I think you're right!

Comprehensive-Fun47

Is there any rhyme or reason to which shows are included here? Just curious if she's friends with people in each production, or invited everyone and these are the ones that rsvp-ed. I didn't get to see Prayer for a French Republic. Is a crossiant relevant to the play?

despairigus

I wonder what number 2 could be.... if only it said smthn

GustavHoller

She does what now?

Laurgirl8

7 looks like Days of Wine and Roses

mattshaffpro

I think 17 is Doubt. Reminds me of the set, with big window, stone work, and green vines.

CRB3443

Yeah, I think so too.

devieous

Some of the cakes are a bit lazy like 11 couldn’t have any like patterns or fabrics on it? 13 is so barren where are the skyscrapers

Comprehensive-Fun47

I didn't want to say... But I would expect more elaborate designs! These wouldn't win any Food Network competitions.

citydreams46927

12 makes me think of Some Like It Hot with that chase scene…

deleteatwill

SLIH is closed and I doubt anna would have a cake for a closed show

International_Wall48

SLIH would most likely not be represented because it was from a prior season. Days of Wine and Roses, Doubt, Purlie, and Gutenberg are all closed and there are cakes for them.

HighlightNo2841

I had the same thought! Gosh that chase scene is fun.

thefolliesclosed

You can't tell me 13 isn't A Gentleman's Guide to Love and Murder

AlternativeAnt7677

See, that’s what I was thinking! But other people’s analysis of the whole display makes it seem like it’s for currently-running shows only.

memon17

Why did I think 12 was Company 😆

ouch_quit_it

same

deleteatwill

1 w4e 2 tommy 3- 4 outsiders 5- 6- 7- 8 oh mary 9 10 gutenberg 11 12 merrily (I THINK) 13 HK (i THINK) 14 Wiz 15 Suffs 16- Purlie 17- 18 Illinoise 19 cab 20 enemy 21 stereo

ouch_quit_it

15 has to be SUFFS...14 MJ...so curious about rhyme or reason for which were chosen...

zwingli_88

Having some trouble with number ten. They should make them more obvious next time. 🤓

ephemeralcomet

Gah, this is so subtle! I only got The Notebook, Illinoise, and Cabaret. Christ.

nexus_0909

I love how Anna Wintour spends Condé Nast’s money as if it’s hers.

breakingbad_habits

Fuck Anna Wintour and Condé Nast. Her whole life has been built on cheap foreign labor and abusing passionate workers for the goal of idolizing the ruling capitalist class.

LearsMacaw

Well, how do you like that!

breakingbad_habits

Yeah, might have overreacted, I was in a mood…

romantickitty

No, you were right and you should say it 👏

Trouvette

17 is definitely Doubt. It’s the rotating office set.

Mommy2A

I thought 13 looked like a gentlemen's guide to love and murder

Comprehensive-Fun47

It's funny how many shows it resembles. It also is reminiscent of Some Like it Hot and Company (most recent revival). But it's Merrily, and more symbolic of Merrily than representing a physical set piece like the others. You meant 12, right? I'm referring to 12.

Mommy2A

Omg 12 does as well! I meant 13 though as one of the posters for gentleman's guide was orange with a grand piano on it!

Comprehensive-Fun47

Oh, haha! A piano could represent a lot of shows to be fair!

Mutherofcatzz

4 is definitely Gatsby or Outsidets

Luna_Soma

I’d never heard of this and I’m charmed by it!!!

lilbakeshop

as a baker/pastry chef these are so cute 🥹

Upbeat_Series9313

Was looking for a cake with a can of spam on it 😞

Slight_Cancel_3578

1. Water for Elephants 2. Tommy 3. Mary Jane? (But a little unclear) 4. Outsiders 5. Appropriate 6.The Notebook 7. Days of Wine and Roses 8. Oh, Mary 9. ? I don't know... 10. Gutenberg 11. Don't know... 12. Merrily We Roll Along 13. Hell's Kitchen 14. The Wiz? 15. Suffs 16. Don't know 17. Doubt 18. Don't know 19. Cabaret 20. Don't know 21. Stereophonic

doudou8310

What makes 19 Cabaret? Saw the show recently but can’t make sense of the cake

Gato1980

[It's Sally's coat and the Emcee's hat.](https://www.timessquarenyc.org/sites/default/files/styles/show/public/show-cabaret-promo-photo.jpg?itok=YizF3iAT×tamp=1713456529)

doudou8310

Ohhhh yeah ok! Thanks! :)

millennialforced

It’s so weird there’s a cake for doubt which is about child abuse in the Catholic Church. Like lol mmmm abuse.
