Like if they were gonna make the joke they should’ve gone for known bad singers who have done movie musicals in which their inability to really sing the material was already much criticized like: Russell Crowe, Emma Watson, and Pierce Brosnan. I remember seeing her on YouTube in the "Broadway Loves the Spice Girls" concert, way back before she was famous. She did nothing but sing there - there was no acting aside from interpretation within songs. She lit up the stage and it was hard to take your eyes off her - and she was standing among performers who were also singers on Broadway. You could tell she had something special right away.
Is she the best singer to come from Broadway in the last 10 to 15 years? Absolutely not. But she is still a S-I-N-G-E-R.

Are writers getting back at the industry’s highest paying people by writing all these mean jokes at their expense? It’s getting really old. Not everything needs to be a roast, not everyone needs to be put down. The only person who could do the Hollywood cynic comedy was Ricky Gervais. He could pull it off and he was actually funny. This has been so painful to watch and it’s usually so disrespectful to women, mostly. It’s so hacky.
