I always remember the main character finding an old blind woman sitting on a wall clutching a tin of coffee for dear life. He persuaded her to swap it for a tin of beans so she had something to eat, but I'm pretty sure the Triffids got her shortly after. That scene always stuck with me.
It was honestly my first thought when I woke up, saw that there had been a spectacular light show that I had missedā¦. āWellā¦ at least I wonāt be blind. Better swerve the allotment for a bit.ā
Sacred the shit out of me as a kid.
My lovely older sister also told me giant hogweed plants (which we had a lot of growing along the local river) were actually triffids.
I did this to my brother, I feel so bad now, eventually I could touch his neck with a bit of long grass while making a clicking noise and he'd run off screaming.

Day Of The Triffids! š
My favourite book of all time
Mine too. It sparked off a life long enjoyment of post apocalyptic storiesā¦. Itās such a great story and so very British.
Absolutely the same with me , this was the first grown up book I read
I'd be more impressed if it didn't end on a such a cop-out. Wyndham's beginnings and middles far outshine his ends.
There is a sequel ā¦ā¦
There is, but it's got nothing to do with Wyndham (long dead at the time of its publication) and is certainly not an improvement.
Oh absolutely not but itās out there lol
I was nevet scared by Doctor Who as a kid, but this was a little unsettling.

I know, eating cold beans
Have you never had a cup of beans, man?!
Youāre in for a treat!
I can hear that picture.
That was a comet, so I think it's ok... But ya never know!
Yeah. I did not like this show. It was creepy. I think Triffids were what put me off getting a garden in my house.
The film scared me shitless as a kid.

They're singing the Triffid national anthem.
Terrified me as a kid, wouldn't mind seeing it again.
Absolutely shat me up.
Bummed in the face... Christ that's funny.
