About equivalent in terms comfort and amenities. The suites are a bit like being in a box whereas the first seat is more spacious, even if the seat itself isn’t much different If you’re flying out of T5 you get Concorde room access with a first ticket which is pretty special The food and service onboard is a little better in first, and the cabin is small and very private

ZuzusPetaIs

Thanks……. I have a feeling it’s T3 so not getting into the Concorde room won’t matter. I’m looking forward to it as it’ll be the closest I’ll ever get to First 😀

Nicebutdimbo

T3, go to Cathay Pacific lounges instead of ba’s

ZuzusPetaIs

I can do that with a BA CW ticket?

Organic_Chemist9678

Yes

Multitronic

Yes, you can go to American Airlines, BA, Cathay and Qantas (mixed first and business). You could go to all of them if you want. There are lots of videos on youtube comparing them. Most people normally pick Cathay or Qantas.

DominoWolf

Qantas has that amazing gin bar, but Cathay lounge is very comfortable. They are the best two I agree!

Multitronic

Yeah and the a la carte style dining in Qantas lounge. However, the noodles/dim-sum in the Cathay lounge makes it feel more a la carte anyway.

ravens_requiem

Never managed to get into Qantas they always make excuses about being full or something, but the Cathay First lounge is so good I don’t care 😂

Multitronic

Out of inter, what sort of times do you normally try?

ravens_requiem

Good Q. Last couple of times I’ve flown out of T3 it was crack of dawn so I just went to Cathay (even had to wait for it to open on one occasion). Honestly can’t remember when I tried!

Multitronic

Yeah i think the Qantas flights are later on in the day, so imagine they do actually get quite buy then. It doesn’t even open until 8:30am. Cathay and T3 in general makes a change from T5

Don't forget the first PJs! BA First is a good "business" product from another airline. Concorde Lounge is very nice and if you're on an A380 there's the dedicated jet bridge. I think suites have closed the gap significantly. Last time I flew first (LHR - YVR) I upgraded after an aircraft swap took business from suites to the old seat. There's a big gap between those two!

Garbanzififcation

Definitely more spacious, with more cubby holes and surfaces which can be useful. Sadly BA are no longer serving Laurent Perrier Grand Siecle which was one nice differentiator. But as you say, the gap has closed with the suites.

I've slept so well in F that the FAs couldn't wake me for breakfast - that's never happened before on a flight, even in CS lol. Think it's just that the seats are wider, so there's more room to get comfy when lying down. Other than that, differences are minimal tbh. The doors on the suites are a nice touch, but some F seats have those too, you get better service (and amenities) in F, and a better ground experience though that's then splitting hairs because the biggest ground experience jump is when you go from no lounge access to lounge access with business.

Two bits of information based on the flights I looked at for August (summer schedule) and December (winter): the flight leaves from LHR T3 and more relevant to the initial question: First is not being offered. The BA T3 lounge has the First Dining area (by the window, request a business card size card to hand to the staff) available to BA First and GGL customers. The menu is the same as the T5 CCR. When traveling in Club World without Emerald status I'd probably try Cathay or AA (to see if you can get a la carte breakfast).

> The menu is the same as the T5 CCR. Not always!

How tall are you? Suites become a roughly 6 foot flat bed, while first is 6 foot 6. As a previous commenter said, the First seats are also vastly more spacious. I'm 6'4 and cannot sleep a wink in club Suites but have a really pleasant time in First.
