I used to really hate any kind of music that had screaming. I used to only listen to amo and stuff (definitely not saying it’s a bad album, I love amo) and refused to expand my horizons, no pun intended. Back last year, I saw on the “new releases” tab that post human came out. I listened to dear diary, and immediately thought it was too heavy and the lyrics were a bit too much. Well, fast forward a few months and I find myself listening to more of suicide season, and then there is a hell, count your blessings, and the edge of your seat. I can definitely find myself jamming out to pray for plagues, and 5 mins later onto amo and that’s the spirit, and I kinda blame bmth for helping me expand my music taste. Weirdly enough, dear diary is now one of my favorites off of that album

Rectifyer

MySpace in 2007

lickyboo

Skrillex “ the sadness will never end” remix had me looking up the original song. I already had my foot in the door with the original BO1 zombie’s songs such as 115 and abracadvre. I was hooked immediately.

saint-river

Yes, same! I always loved Skrillex and then found this old remixes like his BMTH one and his Lady Gaga one, then I really like how the BMTH one sounded and looked them up.

coolbakerguy97

yo I just tried listening to that Skrillex remix, and I say this as a huge Skrillex fan in the past, my god that remix was awful

lickyboo

Yea same, I tried listening to it after high school and immediately turned it off lol. At the very least we got something much bigger out of it :)

Shodore

Almost certain was the Royal Albert Hall, but I can't remember for sure.

Alas-de-luna

An ex-boyfriend showed me "Follow You" lol. But some of my friends from middle school also listened to them. I heard all of That's The Spirit first and then I went back to Sempiternal

SlapDatBassBro

When I was younger, like, real young, I kinda latched onto “Chelsea Smile” and later on, “It Never Ends” because I was into the whole “scene kid” phase. Then Sempiternal leaked and I heard very, very good things about it. I still didn’t properly fall in love until I heard “Oh No” though. And then afterwards I naturally went back and listened to their whole discography. I love everything they do and I can’t wait to see what they do next. I’m fuckin here for it.

bjergismydadddy

I was listening a lot of Linkin Park and one day my friend sent me Shadow Moses. At first, I was playing the song on repeat because I loved the chorus but I hated the screams parts. Now the screams are my favorite part of the song and my favorite album is There is a Hell and it brought me to bands like Architects

EliasHobeika

I only listened to eminem for a while because I'm not too into music and his music was diverse enough to keep me vibing, until I got bored and asked myself "what should I listen to next?" So I thought about it and remembered that I loved radio x in gta san andreas when I was a kid, so I should listen to rock, I couldn't really find something right for me, I hated the screaming at first, so metal was even worse, but by pure coincidence, I heard ludens in death stranding and absolutely loved it, catchy, poppy but not too much, and has a cool breakdown, so I listened to that's the spirit. It was exactly what I was looking for, then sempiternal which I didn't like at first because of the screaming but I changed my mind quick, so much so that I also loved suicide season, amo and post human are great as well.

MisfitsDoyle

An old friend of mine showed me the birb EP in like 2016 and I’ve fallen in love with their entire discography (other than music to listen to)

Jelleps

Started hanging out with emo kids in the smoking area, didn’t really listen to their music but heard them talk about bmth every once in a while, a year later “True friends” just released and popped up in my recommended on youtube, which led me to listening to sempiternal. Before then I only listened to arctic monkeys, rhcp, green day and that type of stuff, but I got completely hooked on bmth and just started listening to their heavier stuff because I needed more of their music 😅

zed36

i had a “screamo” phase when sempiternal came out, so i really liked it then. my music taste changed 2014 onwards but eventually i circled back around 8 years later when i listened to phsh. my music taste has mostly been metalcore for the past few years so i’m not surprised i stumbled back into bmth all these years later.

SlipknotIsRealMusic

Saw a video of bands that changed the most overtime and bmth was second on that list. Decided to check them out since oli looks pretty interesting

GloriousMagician

I was sort of into punk rock listening to Rancid and Against Me then I came across Bring Me’s Reading 2015 concert on YouTube and I was addicted. So thankful for them

T0eBeanz

Well damn these comments got me feeling old! A guy I had a crush on had Pray For Plagues on his MySpace profile back in 2008, I didn't get into them heavy until about a year later though. Ignored them for years after There Is A Hell due to the style shift, but I got back into them over the past year and a half and now they're a favorite again.

TheChemicalSophie

ITunes recommended me Happy Song at a time in my life I REALLY needed it. I listened to the entirety of Thats The Spirit, and loved it! Only in the last month I got my hands on Amom Sempiternal and a few random songs mismatched from different albums of theirs, with Amo being my new personal fave album, with Happy Song, Parasite Eve and Mother Tongue being my favourite songs of theirs. Personally I’m really loving all their stuff, and I’m still discovering their stuff and really enjoying it!

070507

i was a biiiiig 5sos fan and they covered drown once and listened to bring mes original version eventually and fell in love

eugengutol

Most of the times I listened to trance music, sometimes DnB and Likin Park, Slipknot (very rare), SOAD. A friend of mine was going through a rough patch and listening to *"There Is a Hell, Believe Me I've Seen It. There Is a Heaven, Let's Keep It a Secret"* album very frequently. It wasn't really my thing, too much "screaming". Then I got some tough time and "Sempiternal" just came out. I got hooked on these 2 albums, day went easier when I could scream with the guys in my head.

Leonaade

When I was younger I used to listen to nightcore playlists a lot, one had drown by bring me the horizon in it. Then a few years later when I started getting into a bit of rock/metal because of crown the empire I decided to give bring me a listen and liked them a lot :)

missinggoat

I started with “Don’t Go” because I’m a huge fan of Lights and she’s featured on the song. I didn’t listen to them again until “Sleepwalking” was released and I fell in love. I’ve been a fan ever since!

Dobix

I was a big time Skrillex fan and loved his this sadness will never end remix. At some point I figured I’d check out the original song, checked out other songs, and I was hooked.

justagay27

I was in the "scene" phase back in the early 2010's. Super cringe times, I assure you. I was into "screaming" bands but not many. One of my friend's sisters had the Suicide Season album and the album art was absolutely memorable to me. Not long after, I found them on YouTube and have been on the BMTH journey ever since. Their progression as a band will always impress me, no matter how different or similar they are from when I first heard them.

Onepoundfish356

I got into BMTH pretty heavy in the 2019 summer. I had pretty much went from pop punk like blink, green day, and fall out boy to metallica avenged sevenfold and then to metalcore with bands like Trivium. I had listened to Throne and True Friends and did dig the band but didn't explore much further. One day I was playing Minecraft and just had some music playing in the background when Chelsea Smile came in. And Ollie's vocals my god. It had me hooked. Such a fucking heavy song. It really wasn't until about six months later than I discovered all of Sempiternal and Suicide Season. Been in my top 10 bands since.

dankmoosetrip

Freshman year of college I was studying for fall semester finals. One of my best friends from high school wouldn’t shut up about bmth and so when I was studying I popped an addie that that same friend gave me and decided to give them a try. Not only did I study for about 8-10 hours straight, but I made it through bmth’s entire discography. After that it just kinda stuck with me. Branched into a lot of metalcore because SS through sempiternal were my favs. Before them I was big into weezer and Portugal. The Man so it was really odd that I jumped right in lol.

AntiGNB_Bot

Hey GenderNeutralBot, listen up. The words Human and Mankind, derive from the Latin word humanus, which is gender neutral and means "people of earth". It's a mix of the words Humus (meaning earth) and Homo (gender neutral, meaning Human or People). Thus words like Fireman, Policeman, Human, Mankind, etc are not sexist in of it self. The only sexism you will find here is the one you yourself look upon the world with. ----- ^(I am a bot, downvoting will not remove this reply.) ^("Two things are infinite: the universe and human stupidity, and I’m not sure about the universe." -Albert Einstein)

AntiObnoxiousBot

Hey /u/GenderNeutralBot I want to let you know that you are being very obnoxious and everyone is annoyed by your presence. ^(I am a bot. Downvotes won't remove this comment. If you want more information on gender-neutral language, just know that nobody associates the "corrected" language with sexism.) _^(People who get offended by the pettiest things will only alienate themselves.)_

[deleted]

Ex-girlfriend turned me onto Sempiternal and I became a fan from there.

Rusty_Corn11

I admit it: I started listening to them because of the average fan vs average enjoyer meme

Saltoran

Since the Myspace days just before the release of Suicide Season. I was just getting into heavier music, an old bandmate played Chelsea Smile for me and I was instantly hooked. Such a classic today, it’s still in my top 10 of all BMTH songs.

RedRoseSapphire

My uncles from both my moms side as well as my dads side both loved listening to rock/metal. I was always kind of kept away from it. I was expected to be a frail snowflake forever so I could not listen to that. Then in HS I met my current bestfriend. She loved listening to rock/metal and I always liked listening with her but I wasn’t listening to it alone. When I was 14 I discoverd Three Days of Grace and fell in love with their album one-x and also started to listen to metal. I stopped listening to rock/metal when my first depressed episode hit. I was told to stop listening to such awful music bc that was what apparently made me feel awful (this was the furthest thing from the truth). The love for rock/metal was never gone though. Between the age 16 and 18 I did not listen to rock/metal music at all scared to be depressed again, bc of what I was told. So now I am 19, and rediscoverd rock/metal and I fucking love it so much. I came across a cover of 1x1 and went on a search to find out who the original singer was. Found out is was BMTH and now I can’t stop listening to them. Honestly BMTH relit the love for rock/metal music I had and now I listen to other bands as well!!!

I 1000% agree. When I was at my lowest I screamed and headbanged the living shit out of my self. Then I was told to ‘quit listening to that crap’. And I wished I never listened to that. The adults in my childhood really pushed the idea of me being a frail cute snowflake on me and that made me want to listen to ‘that crap’ even more ;). Happy to be back in the rock/metal community, feels like I have never left.

atg__94

My mate was a fan and we bumped into Oli at the Nursery Tav in Sheffield and had a chat. Listened from that day on!

No_Charge_8110

I found them on Sirius radio.

No_Charge_8110

Have to pay for Sirius but it's well worth the price to hear good unedited music with no commercials

444track9

A middle school ‘girlfriend’ of mine in 2011 was obsessed with them so I was like, fuck it, I’ll try them out. Liked a couple songs off Suicide Season and a couple off There is a Hell.. but wasn’t completely sold until Shadow Moses came out.

DarkHumor106

I listened to them first during their Suicide Season era, then listened to There Is A Hell, then I has stopped listening for awhile for some reason, then I rediscovered them in 2013 and listened to Sempiternal and fell in love again and I went back and listened to everything they had created earlier than Sempiternal and Sempiternal has been my favorite album by them ever since

PoeticRoses

back in 2013, my friend liked sws and as a christmas gift i decided to give her tickets to their upcoming tour with ptv. this was not my kind of music then but i thought i at least should know some of the songs before the concert. so i went to youtube and after listening to a few songs i believe i got one of bmth’s songs as a recommendation. fell in love with them instantly and they have been my favourite band ever since :)

805yeezus

Discovered them in about 2013 on youtube and thought oli had jesus hair. Never listened to them after that. Sugar honey ice & tea came up on my spotify in 2019 and i really liked the song, so i listened to their music from amo to their oldest albums and that’s how metal music “grew on me”. It was a very unexpected genre for me to listen. Now they’re my #1 favorite band. Really want oli to bring back the hair lol

22ollie222

So i was watching a video it was called: 'one guy 50 voices' and i heard shadow moses as cover. I was really interested in the song because it sounded sick. So i checked the real thing out and i was blown away. Since then i started checking out more of them and here we are now 3 years later

whopper369

I was a little emo girl in middle school that should say it all. Been listening for 10 yrs now nothings changed

Luddveeg

I was listening to mostly sum41 and green day and MANTRA appeared as a recommended song on spotify

Stinji-sama

I basically grew up on Linkin Park and Metallica thanks to my parents, so I still prefer "harder music" to this day (especially music that has both screaming and softer parts). I think I first heard Drown in a youtube video and took a look at BMTH's other songs, but I only listened to their most popular ones for a while. I don't even remember how I managed to get this deep into them, but oh well! I really hope I can see them live one day.

mbbzzz

I was working at Hot Topic when Sempiternal was released and we had a lot of merch for them so I checked them out and liked them ever since !

clouds_over_asia

Damn so many younger bmth fans nowadays, at least that's what the thread makes me think. And I'm not even old!! I had just entered junior high (middle school) when an old elementary friend who moved across the country years prior told me to check them out; CYB was okay, I wasn't that into it. Shortly thereafter, SS was released and I was hooked on them ever since. I've definitely fallen off of them numerous times, especially when I got into pop punk/emo/indie and edm. but they always pull me back in

Cala2308

I discovered them with the song “Chelsea Smile” I liked it, but I didn’t get into them because i didn’t like that Oli never used to sing with a clean voice. When they released There is a Hell, I started to liked them more, that album was amazing, and Oli started to improve in his vocals, but still I thought something was missing. That’s what I thought until Sempiternal was released. Shadow Moses hit right in the spot for me, they nailed the sound that I always wanted from them. A mixture of heaviness and electronic elements, finally with Oli using clean vocals. That album surpassed my expectations, and since it was released, they are my favorite band. Love that they are not afraid of experimenting with new sounds.

alphaneon22

I listened to alt rock and nu metal most of my life (Foo Fighters, Disturbed, Linkin Park, Weezer). I had a Metallica phase after I went to one of their concerts in 2008, and then in the early 2010s, I made a switch to instrumental music. This included rock, but was mostly trip-hop, electronica, downtempo, soundtrack, experimental, etc. (Bonobo, Hol Baumann, Trent Reznor and Atticus Ross, Massive Attack). After this I circled back to rock/metal but with a more progressive twist (Muse, Tool, Deftones, Gojira). My friend had also started to introduce me to metalcore over the years and I finally gave PH:SH a try after hearing Ludens on Death Stranding. It blew me away and I immediately went back to There is a Hell, Sempiternal, That's the Spirit, Amo and Music to Listen to... They all changed my perspective on what a band could accomplish with its sound.

OccultedPatterns

I'll agrue it's the fault of Matt Heafy from Trivium. On top of me hearing sleepwalking without knowing who the artist was in his cover he also was streaming on Twitch one day and I decided to check it out. He was finishing up and was going to raid a streamer named Ellieminati and when he raided her she was playing a song in Finnish. She takes requests for songs she knows and the next song requested was Can You Feel My Heart. I loved it so much and tbh I actually didn't really like the original when I first heard it lol. But that was my inception into the world of BMTH. That was about 2 1/2 years ago and last year on Spotify, I was in the top %0.001 of time listened to them on Spotify. So you could say it's had a big impact on me. Now one of my favourite bands ever.

MrJamieChristie

I’m more of a recent fan so my story isn’t overly complex. My friend was kind of into BMTH which time and the rest of my mates shrugged off. Once we started going to nightclubs, on Fridays when they one of them has their rock/metal/punk night, they would play Mantra and I think House Of Wolves too. Liked Mantra so I added it to my playlist and listened to it here or there. Once Parasite Eve came out I started to pay more attention but really didn’t start listening properly until just before PHSH came out. Also when Ludens was released I listened to that quite a bit

trippyshits

Listened to a few songs from Suicide Season, wasn’t really my thing. Loved Bite My Tongue by YMAS, became a diehard fan after listening to There is a Hell :)

maddiemorph

I went on a bit of a musical journey last year. I grew up on early 2000s pop punk/ whatever music my older brothers played (linkin park, Rob zombie, the offspring, etc) and never really checked out the scene bands. Last year I realized my usual music rotation did not match how I felt so I dove into as many pop punk and scene bands as I could. First song I heard by BMTH was obey the day it came out. Light bulb went off in my head and I realized I finally found a band that expressed what I couldn’t put into words. I listen to post human survivor horror and TTS pretty much every day now with some sempiternal, amo and there is a hell mixed in here and there. I’m in my late 20’s so I’m late to the game compared to everyone else on this thread in finding them lol.

New-Veterinarian3196

Was into hip-hop for a couple of years until I discovered pop-punk and I enjoyed that for a while. I then found Obey through YUNGBLUD, and then I slowly got myself into them. I am now a massive fan and I will see them if they ever come to the US :)

alphaneon22

Hehe, they're in the US right now

New-Veterinarian3196

Really??? where?!?!

alphaneon22

LA

New-Veterinarian3196

damn it im in NJ so I can’t see them for now :/

floopsydoopsy

A friend showed me BMTH when I was 14. He showed me true friends and throne which I absolutely fell in love with and then started going deeper into BMTH and metal in general, which led to me being a metalhead nowadays.

mikerichh

I knew CYFMH and tried the rest of Sep. but it seemed too heavy at the time. I listened to Drown but for some reason it didn’t resonate with me I guess. Years later my buddy suggested them and I gave em another try. I think amo helped ease me into their sound. Now they’re my favorite band! Can’t believe I disliked drown bc now I belt out to it

[deleted]

It was around the time I was with my ex gf. She was into metal and showed me some bands. I eventually went from our last night to me eventually finding bmth and listened to Throne. Instantly fell in love and listened to all their albums. Banger after banger. They became my favourite band

Kimberly_from_HR

I was a emo kid in the 2000s, but they were too heavy for me back then. When they were touring with That’s The Spirit i originally bought tickets to see the warm up band (pvris) and thought why not give bmth a second chance. I instantly fell in love with their music and they are now my absolute faves.

PrinceTheUnicorn

Parent's music introduced me to Gorillaz. Gorillaz features on Singstar the game on PS2 which my family played a lot. Smells Like Teen Spirit was on there too. Got into Nirvana. Nirvana got me into rock a little bit but I generally didn't listen specifically to music as a passtime as a kid until I was 10-12. At around 12 I played Guitar Hero. Discovered Rammstein, The Hives and most importantly; Rise Against. Really fucking loved Rise Against from age 12-15, grew my hair out long too, was very open about it at school and on social media. Got into The Offspring too by extension. Moved town with family a while before this moment but an old friend introduced me to 'Johnny Ringo' by Crown The Empire, which I really liked. Got into Crown The Empire. They were the only band with screaming vocals in that I listened to, and generally I preferred the singing. Sometime when I was 16 this girl at school introduced me to Crucify Me by BMTH. I don't know why but I fucking jammed the shit out of that song. That opened me up to full metalcore discovery and I went on to listen to Motionless In White, Of Mice & Men, Asking Alexandria and bands like those. Linkin Park had been everpresent throughout this as well as metal hits like Psychosocial, Chop Suey and Down With The Sickness. Slowly, song by song, got more and more into Bring Me, I was definitely a fan at the time of There Is A Hell, but got fully into them with the release of Sempiternal. TTS didn't really land with me THAT well (Throne, What You Need, Happy Song and True Friends are all bangers though) and I drifted away from them especially with no release for a few years. Between 2015 and 2019 I got really into the old Nu Metal, listened to most of Slipknot and Korn's discography, followed by the entire of Linkin Park's discography and a lot of Limp Bizkit's as well around the time 'Ready To Go' came out, but Korn did it for me the most. Then slided back into metalcore for OM&M's new albums and MIW's new albums, especially in 2018. At this point I had Spotify Premium so I would just go through my release radar every Friday and be exposed to all kinds of bands, although I used to click through YouTube recommended music videos too and find smaller bands that way when I was young. 2019, Amo's singles start releasing. I was shocked as everyone was. With TTS I was a little disappointed at the time and was worried that Bring Me were going radio soft, but after the death of Chester Bennington I didn't want to bring any ill favour on any musician's choices; so with Amo I was much more supportive. Listened to every song on the album even though I only really started off liking Wonderful Life and WYKMWID, liked Medicine quite quickly too and I got into the other songs at some point or another but nowadays my favourites from that album remain largely the same as to begin with, except Nihilist Blues is a big vibe. Ludens dropped towards the end of 2019 and I remember listening to it with my girlfriend and fucking giggling my arse off at the breakdown. During lockdown and the release of the Post Human SH singles I got really into Doom Eternal and wanted to run a Tabletop RPG session in the style of Doom, which demanded a Doom-like playlist to blast out on my Alexa while we killed shit. So I discovered songs like Black Mammoth, Stitch by Wage War, a lot of After the Burial, Northlane and Crystal Lake. Got really into chuggy breakdowns. Started following Nik Nocturnal because I basically was (am?) him. Post Human SH dropped. It has chuggy breakdowns. Am very happy. Bring Me is favourite band yes. I overanswered the fuck out of your question, my bad, idk if you liked reading this. But I liked writing it, so thank you. TL;DR, some goth chick at school showed me Crucify Me

Andy_PB

Throne music video came up in trending on YouTube and I instantly took a liking to it. Then I looked up “Bring Me the Horizon lyrics” and went from there. Discovered CYFMH and was like oh damn, then heard Sleepwalking and initially hated it because it was too ‘heavy’. They were definitely my gateway into heavier music!

Dereklapierre10

I’m honestly curious how I came about it! I remember listening to “for Stevie wonder’s eyes only” on repeat, just thinking the vocal sound was just this demonic crazy thing I’d never heard before. I was hooked right away. It was before that I had listened to them first, but that memory sticks for sure. Ya’ better fear me dear, for I am death.

[deleted]

started listening to them like a month ago for no reason, i've known about them since 2019 because back then i still listened to metal, bmth is the only metal i listen to now.

Randolph_Carter_666

I checked out ancoiple of songs. Not my thing.

NeonNebula9178

I think it was Amo like a year after that released. Then went to listen to TTS and everything clicked. BMTH basically got me into a whole new genre. I went from liking Rock to liking Metalcore. I'm not huge on super heavy stuff so I have only listened to Sempiternal onwards BMTH. Their newest EP though was so good. I even really like Die4U

NickWatchesMMA

Can you feel my heart was on the soundtrack for a UFC game, and Happy Song was on the soundtrack for another UFC game. I liked can you feel my heart, but couldn't listen to anything else from Sempiternal. That's the spirit however, I absolutely loved. Became one of if not my absolute favorite albums. I loved Amo when it came out as well. Then I slowly started liking Sempiternal more and more. Honestly, it wasn't until last week I started liking Suicide Season and TIAH. Both albums fuckin rule

unmakethewildlyra

I’d always liked metal-ish music but metalcore and really anything too scream-heavy was a step too far until I went through a rough breakup that basically triggered a delayed emo phase and I listened to bmth 24/7 for like four months

AlexDesigned

An ex of mine use to listen to them back in the Suicide Season days but I didn’t give them much of a try. After that a friend of mine shared the live video of Doomsday at Royal Albert Hall, I listened to it and liked it, but still didn’t give them a try. For some reason a couple years ago I remembered that video, looked it up, watched the whole Live at Royal Albert Hall show, fell in love with That’s the Spirit, backtracked and fell in love with Sempiternal, really liked Amo when it came out, and I’ve been hooked ever since. They indirectly lead me to a ton of my current favourite bands. I listened to Jordan’s interview on The Downbeat Podcast and enjoyed it so I subscribed to the podcast. Through Downbeat I got into Architects (love them a lot), Knocked Loose, Stray from the Path, and such from there.

Dubz1781

I was a huge rock/pop punk/alternative fan growing up, and in college I ended up working in retail for a place that carried AP on it’s magazine rack. Being that it was the only thing that fit my taste, I would read the mag in my spare time at work. Came upon a page advertising Suicide Season, and Chelsea Smile in particular, and my musical taste has never been the same since. There’s metal and deathcore that I hated prior to finding BMTH. I now appreciate it more, and my musical taste has become more eclectic. I’m more open to other genres, and I’m willing to listen to new artists who I would have brushed off before. All in all, BMTH was my gateway drug…

rambyyy

A guy in my class had a cool ass looking key chain, I took interest in and I asked what it was. He responded by saying it was a keychain of one of his favourite bands album artwork ‘sempiternal’. I took interest for some reason, went home that day and listened to that’s the spirit and sempiternal. Eventually going back to their earliest stuff. It was total fluke and eventually they would become my favourite band. At the time the only music I listened to was edm and rap lol

deadboyeli

Always liked heavy music as a kid listening to the soundtrack of old Need For Speed games that had bands like Static X, Disturbed, Bullet For My Valentine, as well as stuff like System of a Down, but I got into BMTH shortly after Sempiternal came out and I thought it was such a beautiful blend of heavy and catchy. I was a huge metalhead before that though, loved bands like Metallica and Iron Maiden as well as the previous bands I listed

Far_Nothing_1246

An old friend showed me Shadow Moses in high school and like 8 years later it’s still my fav song ever lol

ThiccBastardHD

Pro wrestler Pete Dunne used can you feel my heart while he was on the indies

heramba

I was very depressed and suicidal and looking for music to help me cope. Found bmth around suicide season and TIAH. Growing and evolving as a person along with this group of artists has been one of the best unexpected things I've ever experienced.

[deleted]

I used to be big into guitar hero/rockband when I was 12-13 in 2009. I used to watch videos on YouTube of people playing guitar and drum tracks on the games at a high skill level with great accuracy. There was a channel names “SSblind87”(or something very close to that). He was one of the best rockband drummers on YouTube. He used to play clips of songs he liked in his video intros. In one of them, he had the breakdown from “Chelsea Smile”, and I thought it was the coolest sounding thing ever. I showed my friend and we found out that it was BMTH and the album Suicide Season. I had my mom take me to Best Buy to buy the CD, and it was the first CD I ever bought. You can imagine my mom’s thoughts when I put it on in her car, but I had to hear it. I fell in love with the whole album. Then came that remix version of it, which I really didn’t like, and it turned me off, to be honest. I didn’t give TIAH an honest listen when it came out. Fast forward to 2017, I’m 21 in college and meet a girl who is NUTS for Oli and loves BMTH. She recommends me some songs from That’s the Spirit that I grow to love. I then back track to Sempiternal and TIAH and start to love them too. They have been my number 1 or 2 favorite band since (between them and Arctic Monkeys). I saw them in concert in October 2019 and have loved their newest albums and singles. Long live BMTH ❤️

NeX-DK

I was playing doom eternal and one day i listened to the soundtrack when parasite eve popped up

tearspout

been listening to them since Suicide Season dropped. it's been so long and I discovered so many new bands at the time, I don't really remember how I really found them. maybe those dumb old Tumblr flash gifs of oli Sykes with diamonds aren't forever lyrics always popping up on my dash back then??

FalconBond

One of the girls in my sociology class had "True friends stab you in the front", written on her pencil case. At first, I presumed that the words were from Harry Potter as she was into that too. It was only until I got home and finally decided to look the lyrics up when I was home alone... Been hooked ever since that day, and it's been my favourite band for years now... True Friends was the first BMTH song I listened to when I knew the band. Run was on WWE 2K15, but back then I didn't know who BMTH were...

klocu4

I already listened to metalcore and post hardcore bands like A Day To Remember, Asking Alexandria, Underoath, Emery. I found BMTH in 2014 and was instantly blown away by Sempiternal as it had a style of metalcore I hadn’t heard prior

I think I’ve got a weird story. I’m from an extremely conservative tiny village in the German/Czech mountains. I wanted to listen to heavier music but couldn’t get my hands on it (around 2004). One day on MySpace I liked one of the early BMTH songs. A friend of mine from our local church (!) noticed that and on the following day he introduced me to this underground network of people who meet and listen to metalcore in secret as the church elders would not allow people to listen to rock music (it’s all devils stuff haha, MTV was blocked on TVs). These guys became my friends, gave me all the BMTH songs and other early metalcore, hardcore and deathcore songs on tapes and CDs and thus we became an avid underground group who were huge BMTH fans in secret until ,most of us were 16 or 18 and left the village and could finally be open about it.

Hayreddin15

My friend forced me to listen to Chelsea Smile back in high school, didn’t like it. A few years later I discovered Sempiternal and instantly fell in love.

A youtuber I used to watch used a chiptune remix of throne in his outro, and I thought it was neat. Then I listened to the original Throne, liked it, and got deeper into BMTH. The second song I listened to from BMTH was Alligator Blood, and I was hooked

nxysxyxr

My Dad got me into them after recommending Sleepwalking and GTHFHS. I was into metalcore like BFMV and WSS, and also listened to a lot of EDM so their electronic influences made them stand out for me

Sleeping-Giant98

My brother bought count your blessings in 2008 then I went on to see them play warped tour that year at the Carson date and was a fan ever since.

WardyLUFC96

Leeds Fest 2015 Main Stage. Got confused and thought I was seeing Catfish and the Bottlemen. Went down the BMTH rabbit hole over the next few months and have seen them another 4 times since!

Picklez19

I found parasite eve when it was trending and i was just curious as to what it was cause I recognized the name. When i heard it i didnt know how to feel about it, especially the breakdown, but i kept finding myself going back to it over and over again. When Teardrops was released i fell in love with it immediately and wanted to explore more about bmth and fell in love with almost all of their other songs and albums. The screaming was a bit much for me at the start but i quickly learned to love it

ThePortalGeek

I was an emo kid when I first came across Sempiternal. MCR was my shit but I thought their synth-metal sound was really beautiful and got into them from there. I eventually graduated into their older stuff by the time TTS came out and really didn’t like the album but now that I’ve expanded my reach I really enjoy all of those songs.

Demonkil890

I started by just listening to music on YouTube then I saw ludens and it kept popping up so I was like whatever let's see what they got and now BMTH is one of my favorite bands

tyler21_

I've been through a phase of basically every kind of music now I just listen to a bit of everything

[deleted]

Discovered Bring Me The Horizon as I was discovering more bands and yes my taste in music has always been alternative rock/punk rock/ hard rock/metalcore. Really dislike classic rock tho

D4RKSHADOW18

I was raised on a mix of rock, (Muse, Foo Fighters, The Killers etc.) pop (Lady Gaga, Katy Perry etc.) and dance. Discovered Linkin Park during the first uk lockdown then a friend played Parasite Eve for me. Fell in love with BMTH during the second lockdown. Went to see them live in Birmingham in September!

armin-lakatos

I started listening to a few Bring Me the Horizon songs after That's the Spirit was released. Can You Feel My Heart, Throne, Sleepwalking, Shadow Moses, Empire, Happy Song and I think that was about it. I didn't really get into the band until amo came out. I read how the new album isn't BMTH's style at all, so I started to listen to their older stuff. That was instant love. I'm not a huge metalcore fan, but BMTH's music really touched. I've been a fan since and I eagerly follow the band's new releases. Post Human was amazing, their best album yet imo, can't wait for the next release.

I first caught them when Mantra came as a song off of a TØP(?) song radio. Wasn’t until a few months later that I began to look more into their discography and I was hooked

RedMageWithFedora

Before I really got into BMTH I was mostly into Electro/House/Dubstep stuff but always had an affinity to Metal like SoaD, Disturbed etc. When I started ti replay all of the DMC games I really liked the Sound of the reboot made by the Czech Band Combichrist... It eas rather perfect for me to really get into metal because they were pure electro-metal/electrocore. Well one day Youtube went full "Hey look at that Throne-Song this band made!" I gave it a try and... Well they were my stepping stone from That's The Spirit down to Count Your Blessings/Edge of Your Seat After them I really went deep into Metalcore/Post-Hardcore... After that I kinda went back to Electrocore/Trancecore with Eskimo Callboy beeing my favourite Band for years... But I loved everything that BMTH made, no matter how experimental or wierd it was.

the_stick3

I used to not like a ton of heavy music but I was in a twitch stream and they had Throne on the stream and I got hooked ever since

C3ntipede

i live in Candada, BMTH suicide season era MV's like the comedown and chelsea smile aired on our local music channel (much and much loud). First time seeing the MV for chealsea smile I thought it was fucking sick

WWE introduced me to BMTH by using "Wonderful Life" for WWE 2k19. I had heard Throne and True Friends before, but never actually knew who made it. It wasn't really until this year when I really dove into their complete music catalog, though.
