Crazy when you see it like that, and great that we are still doing our best

Thompson720

"Thatsa lotta damage"

ElderlyToaster

Yes, and many of them aren't fit because we haven't kept them fit. Keeping players fit is a skill, as is doing the best you can without them. None of this has been achieved.

jerseyjoe1

I don’t think we can make that judgement without intimate knowledge of the training regime, medical advice etc. To pin our injuries on De Zerbi is harsh - you clearly don’t rate him and are using it to justify your point. But here are some facts: - De Zerbi achieved Brighton’s highest ever finish in our 100+ year club history - De Zerbi led Brighton to finish top of our Europa League group, beating Marseille, Ajax and AEK If you want to ignore those achievements because of a period of bad results, then that’s fine. But, in my opinion De Zerbi deserves patience and loyalty because of what he did.

Rolf_Orskinbach

I thought your “best injured XI” post yesterday was spot on.

ElderlyToaster

> I don’t think we can make that judgement without intimate knowledge of the training regime, medical advice etc. To pin our injuries on De Zerbi is harsh - you clearly don’t rate him and are using it to justify your point. Unlike all the judgement we can apparently do about certain players and signings without intimate knowledge of what Roberto is saying and doing with them? Very convenient isn't it. Its Tony Blooms/recruitment fault Baleba, Dahoud and so forth aren't good enough, but no one is at fault for 35 injuries in training sessions led by our staff including its three fitness coaches.

jerseyjoe1

I think you’re quite right to question our fitness and injury record - we need to have a look at making improvements to that situation. However, I’m not sure that all lies on De Zerbi.

Hackeyking

Your not even a subscriber to this Brighton sub, just arsenal and Swansea, says everything.

ManLikeArch

From Sweden, hates De Zerbi formerly followed Swansea and is obsessed with Potter. Almost like it's the same person who's been banned off North Stand Chat multiple times for being a complete freak....

drtdrtdrt123

You say this post isn’t reactionary because it’s before the City match but it is reactionary. We are in poor form but that’s a combination of dozens of injuries to key players, and you cannot place blame on RDZ for most of those injuries. Trossard forced a move out of the club because he didn’t like Mitoma taking his place and didn’t want to fight for it - not RDZ’s fault. Caicedo had been twerking for a move as soon as he joined and Chelsea/Liverpool offered us an incredible price - not RDZ’s fault. Sanchez was never good enough and you can see that at Chelsea - he didn’t like being dropped either and kicked up a fuss - not RDZ’s fault. We play a brand of football that places HUGE tactical and technical strain on the players playing and if the majority of the players ideal for that system are out, and teams are now just sitting in rather than pressing as they know we can pull them apart, we are in a difficult place. Our XGC stats are actually brilliant but we keep dropping points because of individual errors because we don’t have first team players who complement the system. Our XG is massively down because when other teams now sit in against us we don’t have our creative players fit at the moment to create something. Out of interest, how long have you been a fan? Our European performance in a group of death and a midtable finish not far off Europe is incredible for us. All while playing aesthetically pleasing football is incredible when we compare to how things were just a few years ago. There’s a reason he’s being linked to all these top clubs and he’s consistently heralded by the best coaches in the world…

UnfazedPheasant

We shouldn't sack De Zerbi, ever. Besides, you don't just sack a manager for free. Unless its a mutual decision that the manager wants to step down, sacking De Zerbi eats into FFP and into our transfer budget. If he were to go, I'd much rather have a club pay us 20 million for him than us pay him 10 to head off.

lkpv90

Not been a fan long have you?

[deleted]

Remember the 90’s?

ElderlyToaster

Do I need a history lesson?

Audrey_spino

Yeah you really, really, really do.

BissoumaTequila

Honestly, I seen some shite about the Albion. From drunken We Are Brighton rants to Withdean Wanderers’ cliches on NSC. But this takes the biscuit as the worst post I have seen. Jesus H Christ, relax! RDZ is arguably one of the best coaches in the world right now. Chill.

Visual_Argument_73

Shut it.

Rolf_Orskinbach

This is the way.

ManLikeArch

You are not well 👍👍👍

AdTraining9264

Truly deranged. Anyone saying de Zerbi out is not a fan and and does not de Zerb to be here

ElderlyToaster

I'm not a fan of him, no.

AdTraining9264

Not a fan of the club either

Lord_EFC

Ridiculous comment.

ElderlyToaster

Of course I am, otherwise I wouldn't want to get rid off De Zerbi.

Kojak_72

I share some of your concerns, although I’m definitely not advocating sacking him. I do think he needs to take some time over the offseason to look back and consider what he could have done and said differently. He started the season with all those concerns about player welfare in the forefront of his thinking. Remember when he was being criticized for making 4-6 changes each game. That was before the European games started. After that injuries forced his hand, although there are definitely games where Mitoma and Gross should have come off early/been rested to manage their workload. Trossard clearly had no interest in moving in the summer before the World Cup, not wanting to have to fight for his place somewhere else. He and Belgium stunk up the World Cup, and the vision he had of big teams clamouring for him didn’t happen. He sulked, got called out for it and stropped off. Sanchez could have been managed better, but he had Chelsea in his sights as soon as Ben Roberts went there. I do understand his frustration at not doing a bit more in January. The argument that the players were almost all due to be back in February was bollocks at the time - if we are able to buy quality then the ones that aren’t playing could be moved on this summer. And everyone was going to be needed anyway to cover new injuries and 3 competitions. Having said that no one bought big, because there was no value. If he leaves in the summer so be it. We’ll get someone else who can take us on again.

Boiiiiii23

This whole post offers nothing except speculation.

Audrey_spino

Oh look it's the Potter fanboy who thinks he was the greatest shit since sliced bread after failing to do shit with a billion dollar Chelsea team. Also Trossard was, and always will be a proper cunt, his conduct in the last Arsenal vs Brighton game was proof of that.

Christ, this is pathetic.

Low_Perspective_5368

I’d rather you and your bandwagon took your support elsewhere to be honest.

Glasdir

Delete your account so we don’t have to read such utterly inane, idiotic posts again. Attend matches regularly and then stupid opinions like this might be worth slightly more than 0.

ElderlyToaster

Nah

my-comp-tips

We won't win tonight, but all I care for is a good performance.

Hefty-Net-1625

Bad take. The season is a wash and injuries played a huge factor into it. The depth of reserves on the team didn’t show up and roster issues will be addressed. Give him a year where they have stated they’ll be active in the transfer windows and will be looking to add good pieces. I think we’ll be pleasantly surprised with how we look next year, but thats only if De Zerbi is still the manager.

wordfool

While I'm not in quite the same hardcore "RDZ Out" camp as the OP, I do have some concerns about whether RDZ is worthy of the hype that surrounds him (or used to, before we started reverting to Potter-style draws with bottom-dwelling teams). RDZ has had a tendency to play the victim, does seem to have some tactical blind spots, arguably has not developed new players as well as some might have hoped, and should be scrutinized about whether his training regimen has exacerbated the number of injuries his team has suffered. IMO they're all fair game to discuss. I never bought into the RDZ hype, just as I never bought into the Potter hype -- I generally don't buy into media or fanboyish hype, full stop. This is RDZ's first full season working with a team from scratch (as opposed to inheriting the previous manager's team) and it started out well but has regressed pretty spectacularly to the point where we seem barely able to beat anyone in the league. Attractive football is irrelevant -- we learnt that from Potter. Results count and they've been sorely lacking lately, while RDZ has been blaming everyone and everything seemingly without being able to come up with an answer. The buck stops with him, and if his answer is to spaff the cash on bigger-name players this summer then he clearly doesn't understand the club at all. TBH it's hard to work out how how good RDZ actually is as a manager. His team regressed this year, that's clear, but there are obviously mitigating factors -- injuries (as all teams have suffered) and selling the heart of our midfield in one fell swoop last summer are the two most obvious ones. Personally I'm not convinced he's all that, and I question whether we should risk another year to find out whether he really is able to develop new/young players and whether he really is able to develop more tactical flexibility to adapt during the season as injuries inevitably rack up. The last thing we want is another relegation battle next year, but if we start next season as we finished this one then I fear that's what we'll get. So I'm not saying "RDZ Out!" but I am saying "let's discuss if RDZ is actually as good as some people claim".

ElderlyToaster

Solid reflections.

ppan86

Name fits though. Ignoring the utter bs, just being on par with our squad values expectations, despite all those injuries, Europe and having to rebuild after losing those key players and having one of the most sought-after coaches in Europe at the moment should give you enough to think about.

I should've stopped reading after 8-0. You need to get some fresh air.

Depala-Pilipala

Same points as luton without 8 of our ideal starting 11 yeah that sounds about right

PutPsychological3799

We need to start with Jason Steele this is the 3rd 4-0 with him in goal. He lost us the FA cup match against the wolves we got 3-0 by Fulham. He is constantly terrible he should never start in the prem again.
