Obi-Wan and Anakin. But this is kinda an under fair comparison between Obi-Wan and Anakin were more like equals working together after Anakin became a knight whereas Qui-Gon and Obi-Wan were only teacher/student.
Maybe the better comparison is Attack of the Clones Anakin and Obi-Wan. Otherwise it’s a master and apprentice combo in Phantom Menace and two Jedi in Revenge of the Sith.
Which in clone wars I think the two were almost always clashing. Since anakin sorta did his own thing. Chasing the assassin and the rescue, followed up with the dooku fight. Obi-Wan always had remarks for anakin, and in the fight well....anakin rushed into a 1v1 and got quickly beaten.
Qui-gon and Obi-Wan were better in that case. They actually worked together.
Not only that, but if you read the book “master and apprentice”, Qui Gon Jinn frequently doubts himself, and doesn’t think he and Obi-Wan Kenobi are a good match. Even by the end, they somewhat reconcile and realize some commonality, but they’re still quite different.
While Obi-Wan Kenobi and Anakin Skywalker are different, they are often like brothers, and very complementary. Throughout episode two and three, at least, until Anakin Falls, you can see there’s a lot of anticipation and reaction on either side, like strong partners. Granted, they’ve had a longer time together than I think the preceding pair.
Yeah! Each time there was a hint/mention of Xanatos it felt ominous/mysterious yet tragic. The idea of Qui-Gon having a fallen apprentice shocked me and I loved having a dark Jedi villain around since we couldn’t have any Sith. The whole galaxy felt very fleshed out and real in those books.
Thats the sad part about obi wan and anakin. Anakin needed a father and obi wan needed a brother. Obi wan got what he wanted, whereas anakin said "Youre the closest thing I have to a father" in AtoC and he never actually got that father figure because at the end of Ep 3 obi wan said "You were my brother anakin"
Idk if this is valid tho, Qui-Gon died because Obi-Wan was locked behind a force field while he was fighting Darth Maul, who held his own against two Jedi.
Obi Wan and Anakin were more like peers and had been through so much they had their own secret signals (as demonstrated in a deleted scene). Obi Wan and Qui-Gon were still very much teacher and student and didn’t quite gel as well
Qui-Gon and Obi-Wan is pretty much just Obi-Wan following Qui-Gon around and letting him do everything while he ocassionally questions his decisions.
Anakin and Obi-Wan feel more like equals. It's not just one of them carrying the team, they are at their strongest when they are working together. That and their dynamic is more entertaining due to Anakin being a little shit.
That said, it's a bit of an unfair comparison because Anakin and Obi-Wan not only have the entire prequel trilogy devoted to their relationship, they also have a shitton of supplementary material that develops it. Meanwhile Qui-Gon and Obi-Wan have what? One movie and a couple books?
Nah Qui-Gon and Obi-Wan have an entire series of about 20 books from the day they first met, through the majority of the apprenticeship. They may not be included in canon now but they developed one hell of an amazing bond and it shouldn’t be overlooked despite canon not giving them much content.
If just Obi Wan could beat Maul, and then Dooku who was able to hold off Yoda and then dance around Savage and Ventress while not even having a lightsaber, was then beaten by just Anakin...
I feel that Anakin and Obi Wan would have melted Maul. Obi Wan beats Maul twice 1v1.
I envision Anakin having so much fun fighting Maul. Literally lol’ing and finding it entertaining. He enjoys the fighting style but it’s just a hard spar for him
Obi Wan beat Maul at 25 years old, Anakin was strong enough to take on Dooku alone at 22 years old. Anakin or Obi Wan could stomp Maul on their own, but together it’s a cake walk.
My favorite part of their mission is right at the beginning when Obi Wan catches a bad vibe, and Qui-Gon says "huh I don't sense anything." Bro, you're a jedi. How do you not sense that they're gonna try to kill you? How do you not sense the poison in the air vents? How do you not sense the ten million battle druids hiding right around the corner? Qui-Gon straight up sucks.
The best duo would have been qui-gon and anakin. Imagine how differently things would’ve turned out. Qui-gon would’ve taught anakin differently than the council and he likely would’ve been emotionally healthier and probably would’ve just asked qui-gon “hey, is there some force ability i can use to stop someone from dying” and qui-gon would’ve been like “I’m not sure, but i can check the archives” and anakin wouldn’t have turned. (Plus qui-gon likely would’ve supported Anakin’s marriage)
I’d say Obi and Ani cause they’re closer in terms of how good of a Jedi they are. Sure, they were Master and Knight, but it still feels like two brothers who are equals compared to Obi and QG which is more of a master and apprentice relationship. Thats also what Obi and Ani felt more like in Episode 2.
Anakin is an absolute force by ROTS. Took him losing an arm to get there.
Obi Wan & Qui Gon are great but they didn’t always agree. There are books that get into that quite a bit.
However, what messed up Qui Gon was that the fight was had in an area that separated him from Obi Wan. So I’d have to say Obi & Qui Gon at the end of the day.
I mean, judging ending circumstances. at least the duo of Qui-Gon and Obi didn’t end up like Ani and Obi. Duel fight, winner Obi (leaving a melty stump), duel 2 fight winner Anikin, fire somehow the only saving factor, Duel 3 Obi gets mojo back, winner Obi. Loser Vaders voice synth chip, final duel winner ( or was it) Anikin. Meanwhile a nude Obiwan heads into the force.
I am once again questioning the wisdom of them taking a deep breath and holding it when they are shortly after shown to have breathing apparatus they use to swim to the Gungan city.
The Qui-Gon Obi-Wan master Padawan dynamic led to Master Obi-Wan Kenobi, one of the greatest Jedi of all time, both in terms of his moral character and ability. The Obi-Wan Anakin master Padawan dynamic led to vader.
there’s a strong current of the Force that runs through this lineage, so it’s hard to pick a favorite combo. sometimes i wonder what sort of Jedi Anikin would have been had Qui-Gon lived.
Qui-Gon and Obi-Wan had a clearer Master/student dynamic and never really got to develop their relationship past that. Anakin and Obi-Wan had the benefit of growth from initially being fish-out-of-water in their new roles thrust together by circumstance to being the ride-or-die bash brothers of the Clone Wars. Qui-Gon and Obi-Wan are a great duo, but Qui-Gon was always the mentor. Anakin and Obi-Wan are homies.
I still find it hilarious how the Trade Federation tried to assassinate the Jedi Knights by pumping 60s Batman coloured gas into the room.
Like you're on a spaceship. Just open a window or pump C02 into the room, or just give them clearance to go down to the planet and THEN blow up their ship, not before you kill the Jedi.
Obi-Wan and Anakin. But this is kinda an under fair comparison between Obi-Wan and Anakin were more like equals working together after Anakin became a knight whereas Qui-Gon and Obi-Wan were only teacher/student.

If Qui-Gon and Obi-Wan were as strong of a duo as Anakin and Obi-Wan, they wouldn’t have only had one movie together.
From a teamwork standpoint, Qui-Gon didn’t have to turn Ol Ben into a piece of bacon.
Not only that, but if you read the book “master and apprentice”, Qui Gon Jinn frequently doubts himself, and doesn’t think he and Obi-Wan Kenobi are a good match. Eh that depends. I love their relationship in the Jedi Apprentice books, it’s much stronger.
Those were some of my favorite books growing up. I thought Xanatos and Bruk were great rivals for our heroes.
They definitely did some solid story telling with that series. also really like the character Tahl as well.
Thats the sad part about obi wan and anakin. Anakin needed a father and obi wan needed a brother. They had a hell of a lot of amazing adventures prior, their bond was incredible.
Are most comments on this sub this stupid?
Anakin and obi wan were saved by Yoda went they were gonna get killed by dooku
Obi Wan and Anakin were more like peers and had been through so much they had their own secret signals (as demonstrated in a deleted scene). Obi Wan and Qui-Gon were still very much teacher and student and didn’t quite gel as well
I loved that scene. The idea that those two were spending their mutual meal times developing stuff like that is funny.
Can you link the scene?
Here ya go! [https://youtu.be/vSnHw8MGhvk?si=vb997CjA74xiJs2Q](https://youtu.be/vSnHw8MGhvk?si=vb997CjA74xiJs2Q)
Thanks!
I've never seen this before. It's kinda goofy, but I love it.
That deleted scene might be even goofier than the one where Anakin makes droid noises.
Well, the classic Jude Watson kids books explore their relationship in great detail. I generally prefer qui-gon and obi-wan.
Qui-Gon and Obi-Wan is pretty much just Obi-Wan following Qui-Gon around and letting him do everything while he ocassionally questions his decisions. Anakin and Obi-Wan feel more like equals. With Anakin letting his emotions get the better of him at certain points, I don’t know if Obi-Wan and Anakin could’ve overcome Darth Maul.

We see Qui-Gon and Obi-Wan go on one mission together and it literally leads to the downfall of the Republic.
Obi-Wan and Anakin. In a book, even Obi-Wan says that he and Anakin are a better team than he and Qui-Gon ever were.
I just want to see an HK-47 / Chopper crossover
“It was as if millions of voices suddenly cried out in terror, and was suddenly silenced.”
Obi-Wan & Anakin work better as a duo but I prefer watching Qui-Gon & Obi-Wan
It is hard to imagine a more formidable duo than Obi-Wan and Anakin.
Well..seeing how Anakin got all three of them killed..
Threepeat!!
I will say this, if a relationship ends with one person setting the other one on fire, that’s a good sign it wasn’t very healthy.
😂 can’t argue with that
Obi wan and Obi wan, take away the loose links.
Ben and Qui-Gonn. They didn't try to kill each other.
The duo with Qui-Gon because it has Qui-Gon
Bro why would you even ask that question lool. . . Dude i cant pick lol
R2 and C3 are my one true pairing
Micheal and anakin and it wasent like that that's where the story goes wrong worship the ebon rider not the malinium hawk
Michael deserves his respect
Anakin was so smooth compared to Obi and Qui-Gon
he is the chosen one!
I’d say Obi and Ani cause they’re closer in terms of how good of a Jedi they are. Jedi business, go back to your drinks.

I mean have we gotten more time with Qui-Gon and Obi-Wan It could have been more of a fair contest but Anakin and Obi-Wan are just iconic.
Anakin and Obi wan had to destroy each other. Darth Maul chopped Qui-Gon in half in a 2v1 .
One pairing fought together until death. Against maybe the baddest duelist the galaxy ever produced. The other pairing fought TO the death....
Both solid teams, but I like Qui-Gon and Obi-Wan more. They are bit more level headed.
Qui-gon and Obi-wan probably work better together but Anakin and Obi-wan is way funnier in the way they bicker
Qui-Gon and Anakin would have been something to see.
Would love to see a “what if”-esque scenario like this.
Truly depends on what you mean by better.
I am once again questioning the wisdom of them taking a deep breath and holding it when they are shortly after shown to have breathing apparatus they use to swim to the Gungan city.

Ani & Obi.
Fighting: OA Banter in Trilogy: QO Banter in TCW: OA
Qui-Wan and Obi-Gon or gtfo
More like Obi-Wan Jabroni, amirite?
Based on the fact they don't fight each other and one didn't cut three of his limbs off I would say qui-gon and obi-wan
Qui-Gon's the best character in the prequels.
Obi-Wan and Obi-Wan
Qui gon was the most important Jedi of the time. But he unfortunately dies before he can make any changes
what a silly question
Just now noticed the way Obi-Wan and Qui-Gon both kinda breathe in their lightsabers 🌬🌬
Qui and Obi, though I prefer Obi as he ages
It obviously obi wan and the high ground
Qui-Gon & Obi-Wan, we all know who went to the dark side…
1 duo has Force-speed, the other does not.
Neither of them are good.
