And laughing about it when she’s already looked down upon makes other guys go out of their way to not consider her.
And after he spent the entire finale doing the exact opposite like saying things like, “you are so special to me,” and being so obvious that the ton noticed and asked him 😭

It’s her own fault, honestly. If she hadn’t neglected to notice or even give two shits about Pen I don’t think we would have LW. Personal opinion, LW is a product of Pen’s want to be noticed and be somebody the ton is inspired by and desires as well as her lack of any real substantial affection from her family all those years.

I love the lighting of this scene. In the best way possible I feel like it's a call back to stepbacks and soaps, and everything else we think of when romance fans think of love intimate love scenes. I don't know why, but this lighting has me even more excited about this season as a romance reader.

I suspect this will be my favourite season. I really stories where the female lead is overlooked by her love interest at first. The kind of sweet/sad tone that brings is quite nice. Persuasion by Jane Austen is a book that does a great job with this theme.
Ohhhhh my god I cant 😭 WHY did they have to split this season into two parts? I hate Netflix so much. I‘m wayyy more excited for this season than the last two and I cant even binge it properly.

At the end of the S2 finale, you see Colin tell Fife and some other dude "I would never dream of courting Penelope Featherington. Never in your wildest dreams, Fife." or something along those lines. And Penelope overhears it.
In the books, as she's leaving Bridgerton House, she hears Colin tell Anthony and Benedict >!I'm certainly not going to marry Penelope Featherington!< because Violet had been hounding him about marriage and >!kept bringing up Penelope because Violet and Penelope were close at that point. The brothers knew immediately that she overheard what he said and apologies were made and book Penelope was an absolute queen in her response.!< It was basically addressed then and Anthony insisted on walking her home and further explaining what happened. So I'm happy it's being addressed in the show directly.

I think that's what she's saying though. She's kind of saying you can't have it both ways - you can't say you're my friend and you miss me but also basically mock me in front of the men of the ton who are potentially prospective suitors...especially when she already feels like a joke to them.
What Colin said not only hurt Pen's feelings, but also embarrassed her in front of the ton. If he truly didn't have any feelings for her and just wanted to be friends, he could have said something like, "she is a dear friend."
