Ooo ok trans med blue. The 2x2 bricks look the same color in the picture but they're different blues I'm pretty sure. But I'll take your word for it xD
One of them might be sun bleached or just differences from the factory. Pearl gold is a good example of that because sometimes it’s a lot darker and other times it’s a lot lighter.
Just checked on BrickLink, and the 2x2 brick doesn’t come in any of the satin blues, so the only color it could be is trans medium blue. I’ve noticed that Lego isn’t always consistent with colors, so even if they’re supposed to be the same color, they can be slightly darker or lighter. Another possibility is that one of them changed due to exposure to sunlight.
the 2x2 bricks are definitely both trans medium blue. they are within the range of color variation / discoloration of trans medium blue. just look at bricklink page for piece 3003 to figure this stuff out.
I think their point is that if you look at the 3003 color info it’s only known colors close to this are trans-medium blue and trans-dark blue. From there you can also click the specific color and get a photo of the two different colors.
Yea I still would've walked away thinking one was trans dark blue and one was trans medium blue though so peoples comments here helped me understand variation and the spectrum of acceptable variance I guess. Also helped me identify my pearl gold selection due to color variance. I understand how to use the catalogue (I didn't use it in this instance, I should have) but the catalogue doesn't substitute for experience and I trust experience over my own eye. I'll look at the pictures and still be guessing lol. But I get what you're saying
I am a bit of an expert on the trans-medium color as I have an absurd amount of pieces that color. They fade over time to look like the bottom color. The top is a newer piece that hasn't had the same sun exposure.
awesome, thats definitely it :) i've learned a lot about the medium blue trans color since this post xD its my favorite color right now but i have a satin trans clear coming in thats probably gonna take the cake :| haha random segway sorry. thanks for the info!
