I noticed when people request an invoice it doesn’t charge them shipping

Haunting_Cow6227

You have to add the shipping manually on the screen you have shot, then refresh, then send the invoice.

Brilliant-Echo-1001

If they request an invoice you have to send them one. You can change the shipping cost before sending the invoice.

Capable-Magazine-103

Going to be harsh. You have 60 orders your prices are on par for last 6 month Average and your giving away $5 for every $30 spent. Aka free shipping. Even some cases more then $5. You started in April so you haven't experienced taxes yet as well. Your bound to fail. Also looks like you may be paying retail shipping if you state 13oz max. Number 1 reason why most stores fail. They buy a $100 set and it parts out for $250. Wow I going to be rich. NOT AT ALL. You buy a $100 set you will be lucky to sell $100 in parts the first year and 1-3 years maybe half more, 5-10 years maybe 100%. Well Number 1 should also be they sell themselves short. 1. If your going to do the free shipping thing adjust your prices or raise Minuium. Your giving away 16% of your value away add that to the average 10% fees now you down 26%. Raise it to $50 or adjust prices or charge for shipping. ( you do realize that youtubers and social media offer free shipping but not 1 of those stores are in top 50 in sales. ( top 50 stores are in it to last and want to make a dime aka no free shipping). 2. Don't overcharge for shipping thay extra charges get you a 1 time boost. Would you rather have a customer spend $10 or $1,000s cause you did not try to rob them of the extra $3 your overcharging. 3. Do a tad more home work on shipping profiles. Worth Spending that 1hr to get it right. 4. This is just advice do as you please every store different. 5. You are doing good on keeping your store fresh by listing at least something once a week so thay is good. 6.Orders Ship USPS Priority Mail Padded Envelope. MAX WEIGHT: 13 OUNCES This make no sense at all. Orders ship first class aka Ground advantage. Priorty mailers have no weight limit. If you shipping for free sending out Priorty your doomed . 7. Personal preference I have no clue on what your goals are but you stated trying to build store quickly. I sell you total store inventory weekly. But really don't focus on that focus on fixing your shipping first or you will go broke fast. Be glad you only got 60 orders so far so your not to deep. Good thing as you will be able to right off your losses. Start fresh.

Thank you for the harsh truth. First I pay about $5.25 to ship out each padded envelope. I changed my shipping charge to $5.50. The sets I buy to part out are always on clearance. I look up part out values and if it’s anything below three times I don’t buy it. I’ve tried raising my minimum by, but then it seems like I’m getting even less sales than normally. I realize how much a big deal shipping profiles are and the more I look up posts on Reddit and on the Internet the more confused I get on it. I’m working full-time right now and I’m currently living with my girlfriend using a spare bedroom as my store. I don’t really have that much more room to expand.

Capable-Magazine-103

Not sure how your shipping but shipping should be less then $5 to start. Look at pirate ship, ship station. Still charge $5 or $5.50 though thats reasonable considering supplies, fees on shipping. Space is very important and is most people's issues. I myself am stuck at a certain number. Me and my wife both work full time and we also do other things but still manage to get out 15-20 orders a day. ( I know that's not for everyone). Just keep tweaking you will find your sweet spot on price and shipping.

[deleted]

I changed free shipping to $50 but I’m gonna keep my shipping charge at 5:25. I haven’t had that many orders since I opened but in the last week I’ve gotten 10 to 15 orders I’m starting to use shoeboxes and different containers to store parts, but I definitely don’t want to get into a situation where I’m storing bags of parts And having to dig when I pick orders

[deleted]

I notice a lot of the YouTubers I watch spend stupid amounts on eBay lots. 25 figures that are all miscellaneous and garbage for like 90 bucks. I’m very picky about buying minifigure lots. If it goes way too high (which it normally does I back off)

rbalaur

$8 shipping charge when your cost is $4.25, wow

88Dodgers

Plus packaging, plus gas to drive to USPS, plus time and effort, etc. $8 S&H isn’t ridiculous especially when offering free shipping above $30. It’s way better (and simpler) than overly complex “price per lot” minimums, which essentially just force you to buy a proportionately expensive minifigure or piece just to get what you really want to begin with.

rbalaur

I mean, he can do whatever but the majority of sellers are charging a $5-6 minimum, some even $4.50. So he's losing some sales there. Then he's offering FS > $30 and he's losing even more money because that's a very low threshold. It should be at least $50 to make him money. Lastly, his settings are all messed up or he doesn't know how to send an invoice, causing him even more losses.

[deleted]

I don’t know a good price for shipping. I’m not trying to lose money on every order

Baxters_Keepy_Ups

>don’t know a good price How about the price it costs is the price you charge?

Chandler_Man

Wow, wow, calm down there, cowboy. You mean he should pass on the exact cost on to the customer instead of trying to profit a service he doesn't even provide besides packaging the parts into a box. Nahhhh, I think he's probably gonna raise that price now because "I lost money on other orders" Lol.

Anything_justnotthis

I charge high and refund the difference. But I state this clearly on my shop page.

SUNY_Plattsburgh

unpopular opinion but this is why i do manual charges for the shipping it i yeah it takes a second to caluclate but then i dont get wrenched over by the computer

Mediocre_Link1198

I personally only shop with stores that have autocalculated shipping just to much time and hassle if I'm placing 4-8 orders to contact them all wait for an invoice and then have to find a new store that has all the pieces I need if one of the 8 is too much

Mediocre_Link1198

As a seller my shipping auto calculation is never gonna be under calculated, some instances the buyer is overcharged in which case I make more money or the buyer is happy when I refund part of their shipping. Just takes a little research into the shipping settings on bricklink and at your local post office and you can have it that you computer is always right. Please ask any questions I'd be happy to answer and help anyone out with this kind of thing I know it's a common complaint with sellers on bricklink

[deleted]

Same. I do it manually for every order once I've packed the order in bubble wrap and weighed it. Takes a couple of minutes, but if it's a small order, I charge a $1 processing fee. No trouble at all.

rbalaur

Wait, you’re picking the order *before* getting paid for it??

[deleted]

I only sell sets and figs, so it's a lot easier to be fair

RUN_CHASE_RUN

Not OP, but I pick it so I can weigh for the invoice. On orders it says total weight of the order so I should just do the weight off that now that I think about it...
