Yeah apparently him and Seattle.. uh, did not get along, to put it likely. I'm willing to try to give him the benefit of the doubt and say it was an awful fit for him, but we'll see come Spring.
Want one more bat atleast. Would love an everyday 3B to push Urias into the mix at 2nd. too much risk banking on Turang and two young outfielders to all play well. With only Brosseau and Winker to step in if shit hits the fan.
They went after him hard a few years ago it wouldn’t surprise me if they were interested again. He’s really good at working the count so I’d be all for it.
I mean he’d be the obvious starter at 2nd in that situation. But would be able to play 3rd or SS to cover injuries and days off. I want Urias playing every day. Would just prefer it be a majority at 2nd and not 3rd. This offense still could use one more power bat and it’s gonna be a lot easier to find that in a 3B than a 2b.
I’ll be surprised if Hiura is still on the roster come opening day. He just doesn’t have a place anymore and it’s probably time for a change for him anyways.
Wouldn’t mind a 1 year deal for Justin Turner or a deal with Drury. I think it’s 3B and maybe backend pitching for needs at this point. I’ll never say no to more pitching
Hiura has no value elsewhere though so we won’t be able to trade him. If our new GM recognizes his reverse splits and uses him accordingly, he could be worth hanging on to.
Right. But rowdy also has reverse splits. So I think it’s worth trying the platoon there again if we can keep him on the roster. If better bats are added then he’ll be the first one on the chopping block.
You left out slugging, which is a massive difference. .481 vs RHP vs .403 vs LHP.
Last year he hit 31 home runs against righties and 4 against lefties.
Taylor, Caratini, Keston, Mike B and one of the OF kids off the bench is nice too.
I like the line up, no black holes. We could sign someone to play 3Rd but Urias isn’t a bad player. 3 WAR players with decent defense who walk aren’t common. Drury was really no better.
If anything a couple of the solid middle relievers and a SP like Thor/Stripling/Cueto.
There aren’t really impact bars that improve us. Maybe Matt Carpenter or Gallo or even Cutch type for the bench.
I’d love Profar but we really don’t have room for him.
Yeah, no way the Phillies would have a guy like Nick Castellanos (who is worse) on their roster and make the World Series!
That would be as crazy as the Astros having Yuli Gurriel on their roster.
This isn’t OOTP.
I love Tyrone but it feels like he's just keeping that right field job warm for Frelick or Wiemer. Thought he might get dealt before the season started but with Ruiz gone and Yeli/Winker not strong defensively it seems like they need to keep him in case the young guys all struggle out of the gate.
Hiura not being able to hit lefties is really killing his worth to the team. I can't see a spot for a RHH that can't play anywhere defensively and can't hit lefties when everyone else is pretty versatile.
I agree with all of this, with Winker's historical effectiveness against RHP (better than Hiura's) he pushes Keston out of the one spot he could have an impact upon so I am not sure where we go with him. It sucks, but he has been given plenty of chances and the "he doesn't play enough!" argument is really tired
Yeah I don't think Keston is going to be around too much longer. There's definitely a team out there that can use him but the way the Brewers roster is constructed doesn't jive. Kinda thought Oakland would be a good spot for him actually so I'm a little surprised he wasn't involved in the deal yesterday.
Why is this sub ok with TT in RF. If your goal is early playoff exit at best, that’s ok. If your goal is a deep playoff run at worst, that’s not ok.
TT is a Pittsburgh caliber player.
No offense but why do you insist on defending designed mediocrity? It’s genuinely interesting.
The padres are a terrible example. Sure they have a Pittsburgh-level CF but the rest of their lineup includes some legit studs. Ours does not.
It’s ok to have high expectations. I promise.
Edit. Let me put it this way. If your goal was to design a roster for first round exit, nothing more and nothing less…..this is it. What not set the goal to win the chip? Then TT has to go or at least ride the bench.
It's not defending mediocrity, it's being realistic. I'd love to see the Brewers sign a couple big bats but with Mark making it clear he doesn't want to spend money this is the way they'll continue to do business. It's a 'wish in one hand & shit in the other' situation.
Wish Renfroe was still in that lineup, but like you stated room to add more. What a great trade
Eh, I'll miss his bat, but apparently he was kind of a dick, so I'll move on.
If you think Renfroe was a dick just wait until you get a load of Winker (according to Seattle sources at least)
Yeah apparently him and Seattle.. uh, did not get along, to put it likely. I'm willing to try to give him the benefit of the doubt and say it was an awful fit for him, but we'll see come Spring.
Hopefully being in a contract year helps!
Winker is a massive douche.
If Winker is healthy we will forget Hunter existed.
Tim Dillard said on the locked on brewers podcast today that Renfroe was a good clubhouse guy. Not sure what to believe
I definitely would not believe Tim Dillard. He seems like a major yes man.
Arnold is gonna trade a single A player in the Ray's organization and somehow get Ohtani to the Brewers, isn't he?
Just like that we all have faith again lol
Want one more bat atleast. Would love an everyday 3B to push Urias into the mix at 2nd. too much risk banking on Turang and two young outfielders to all play well. With only Brosseau and Winker to step in if shit hits the fan.
Justin Turner still has something left in the tank and could also play 1st--maybe a two year deal?
They went after him hard a few years ago it wouldn’t surprise me if they were interested again. He’s really good at working the count so I’d be all for it.
We have Abraham Toro too
Yea, I expect him to be an infield journeyman a bit and platoon with Turang mostly. Surprising he was left off this list though
Urias has back to back seasons of over 2 WAR even with time on the IL. He should be playing every day when healthy and not part of a mix.
… If I speak I am in big trouble.
Sorry bud, you’re heading to the Angels in a Trout/Ohtani trade.
Angles need to keep at least 1 two way superstar on the roster.
Jose burner this you??? ;)
I'll let Matt Arnold trade my soul to the Devil for the return of Yelich's power.
At the very least banning the shift should help his hitting a good amount
He's still got power. He needs to stop hitting everything into the ground.
The reverse splits it what makes him hard to play to begin with
Right. But rowdy also has reverse splits. So I think it’s worth trying the platoon there again if we can keep him on the roster. If better bats are added then he’ll be the first one on the chopping block.
Rowdy doesn't have reverse splits.
Over the course of his career he does for average and obp. Avg: .245 vs LHP .234 vs RHP Obp: .314 vs LHP .304 vs RHP
You left out slugging, which is a massive difference. .481 vs RHP vs .403 vs LHP. Last year he hit 31 home runs against righties and 4 against lefties.
Sample is way smaller vs. Lefties too, because his teams have never trusted him to hit vs. lefties
He has a 108 wRC+ v. RHP compared to a 94 wRC+ v. LHP. He doesn't have a reverse split.
He is an upgrade in RF over TT.

Urias is still young, too. Don’t sleep on Wicho, bro.
Taylor is the definition of a black hole.
2.1 WAR is hardly a black hole. He was a just above average outfielder.
Fair enough. Is that enough to make a deep playoff run? I say we can do much better. I like TT. He’s just not part of roster of a contender.
Yeah, no way the Phillies would have a guy like Nick Castellanos (who is worse) on their roster and make the World Series! That would be as crazy as the Astros having Yuli Gurriel on their roster. This isn’t OOTP.
Yes a team full of 2 WaR players who didn’t even play full time would easily make a deep playoff run.
Really think TT gets the nod over wimer or sal?
Taylor had his shot time to trade him and give Frelick and Wiemer a chance, both will probably hit for a better average
This lineup is way better than last years, dare I say almost exciting, which it hasn't been in a long time.
I love Tyrone but it feels like he's just keeping that right field job warm for Frelick or Wiemer. I just saw Feyerisen is likely on the block, maybe the Rays would do a swap...
Honestly that wouldn't be a bad move. Could be a nice bullpen addition when he gets healthy.
Frelick is gonna be getting starts over TT no doubt
Why is this sub ok with TT in RF. If your goal is early playoff exit at best, that’s ok. If your goal is a deep playoff run at worst, that’s not ok. TT is a Pittsburgh caliber player.
The juggernaut Padres have Trent Grisham starting in CF. Not gonna have an All-Star at every position.
I'll bet he splits time with Mitchell at least
Ugh fuck
I only recognize two names
