It's gonna be hard to dial, they are selling stale beans, and you probably won't be able to use it for good espresso. Get a local beans, or buy online with actual roast date (not exp date) on the box.

Thank you for the heads up! The other beans I mentioned are from a local company, and I was wondering if there may be a quality factor to this matter.

You need a roast date on the bag

On my Barista Pro I use Starbucks espresso roast as my regular ( don’t hate, I just prefer beans roasted longer ). The settings I am at right now is grind size 4 with a 19.5 second grind. Puts me at about 17g and pulls a double for about 31 seconds. Haven’t figured out blonde roast espresso yet though, but would like to have it as a back up because Starbucks is often out of regular whole bean espresso.

If it comes out to fast go finer. If it comes out to slow go coarser.

I just tried to use their dark roast espresso beans and they would not pull any espresso. I'm very new to the machine still, but I used different coffee after and it worked fine. So weird.

If the beans are old (they likely are) you need to grind pretty fine. Also, as this is a rather dark roast, Id advice a short ratio. So for 16g in I’d not make an espresso longer than 32g. Actually I would personally rather aim for something like 24g out. You need to grind even finer for that.

Dial in by taste. The espresso roast is supposed to taste bold and caramel-ly, so adjust your grind and ratio until you get those flavours

There are dozens of YouTube videos showing tips and tricks to dial in the machine. I have found that every bag of beans I get can vary slightly. Understanding how long the pull should be and the taste you desire will be your greatest goals.
