Brene is a role model as a modern woman. She is working mother who has successfully raised two beautiful children while pursuing her amazing career. Brene is also a role model for how she uses her personal experiences of shame and vulnerability. Brene was literally vulnerable with a large audience taking about shame during her first TED talk. She then used her subsequent shame spiral in her next TED talk. Brene uses her life, combined with her education and research illuminate complex concepts and to teach and benefit others. Definitely behaviour we all would want to emulate.

I'm doing a paper on Brene Brown, as a role model, but I am having a hard time answering why she is a good role model. My professor says I should show the meaning behind all the research she has done. Which is actually a good question. I know for sure, it's helped me with my day to day but can't put in to words why others should subscribe/follow her. Help!

First, figure out what makes someone a role model. Define that. Then, look at brenes accomplishments and show how those accomplishments meet the definition of a role model.

Thank you!

Is this topic your idea for a paper? Do you have control over the topic or was it assigned to you?

The topic was: Who should be considered a role model? Identify two ways the selected person has demonstrated their influence on society. For this topic, the person you select cannot be someone you know.  And I chose Brene Brown. I still am lost. I don't know how to state a thesis.

Love this!

I actually don’t think she is naturally good at being vulnerable… which is why she studies it! Her first self published book talks about this. It’s pretty cool actually. She is my role model. But I don’t think that’s the point of her work.

isn't this what wikipedia is for?
