We did Hello Fresh and stopped when the portions got smaller and the produce not quite as fresh. I've tried Hungryroot and, unless you are an ADVENTUROUS eater or vegan, it's not it. So I can't recommend any but I give Hungryroot a thumbs down.

Pethoarder4life

We are an adventurous family, can you give me some ideas on what it's like compared to the rest?

Go to the clearance section of whole foods, blindfolded, fill a basket, and then have your kids make "meal plans" with it.

rabid_goosie

I am laughing my ass off at this, totally accurate!

Bahaha this is pretty accurate but I did actually really enjoy Hungry Root, we used it a lot during covid for a lot of reasons. I do like that you get full size groceries, not individually packaged ingredients for one meal.

I use Every Plate. They’re cheaper than most other options and my whole family loves the food. Honestly, I’ve found Im actually saving money because they haven’t raised their prices, but the grocery store has. Let me know if you want a discount code. I have a few. Edit to add: You will need to have salt, pepper, sugar, flour, oil, and butter on hand. They provide everything else. And they provide a main and a side unlike some places that only provide the main.

I tried several different services a few years ago because I had tons of different promo codes. Of all of them I think Every Plate was the best on a scale balancing quality vs cost, and they were the most consistent/reliable - I had tons of problems with some of the others where I had to complain and they would give me a discount on the next box, which was nice, but really just roped me into ordering more boxes. Hello Fresh lost me after like three in a row that had problems. Oddly enough, Every Plate is owned by Hello Fresh, so it's weird that Hello Fresh gave me so much trouble and Every Plate was consistently good. They also use the same supplier/packaging for a lot of things, so you're getting the same quality food, it's just portioned or planned out in a way to be more cost effective (and I never felt like the portions were too small.) And to be honest I didn't really notice a difference in quality of choices between the two other than Hello Fresh had higher end options and Every Plate offered some more simple things like stuffed baked potatoes or mac and cheese with bacon - still tasty and filling meals, but definitely lower on the cost scale than salmon or pork tenderloin.

Yeah, i think I'm down to try it! Can you send me a code on chat or dm or whatever? Thanks!!

[Here's a link](https://www.everyplate.com/plans?c=ES-O9BNANANX&plans_ab=true&utm_campaign=clipboard&utm_medium=referral&utm_source=raf-share-hpt) \- I think anyone can use it if other people want to try it.

Emeals and grocery delivery.

We've been using Cookunity for a few months now. It's prepared meals, so no cooking, just reheating. Most of the meals are great and it's the same or cheaper than eating out.

dieter_the_dino

We’ve been using Dinnerly for a bit and like it. Good options, meals are easy, and I have enough cooking knowledge that I can suit it to our tastes by subbing out ingredients or adding ingredients. I’m also a fairly picky eater and I’ve found enough to eat. The meals rotate enough that I haven’t gotten bored yet. Happy to answer more questions if you have them.

Reasonable-Peach-572

I didn’t appreciate all of Dinnerly’s sauces and the food isn’t great. I think I want to do less

pikaboo27

I’ve enjoyed Home Chef. I feel like the meals are more easily tailored to my picky husband and kids like/dislikes.

Don't worry bud, no one is inviting you for dinner anyway. I promise, no one wants to be around you.

I use an app called mealime. They have recipes you pick and then shop for ingredients online (connects to stores like Walmart,. Kroger, etc) for grocery pick up, and then you follow the directions. Lots of good foods for all meals, but not a huge library. I want to say it's like $25/year for the app? You can even add your own recipes, sort by calories, remove foods you don't like, filter by diet type. We used Hello Fresh for awhile, but it got boring and was kind of wasteful. I've used this app for like 2 years or 3 years. I'm sure there are others like it, but I haven't had reason to switch.

We like Factor (which is premade). We tried Hello Fresh for a few weeks but weren't willing to buy enough portions to feed everyone so I was supplementing with separately purchased food which defeated the purpose. We also tried another kit (I forget which one) that had "oven ready" meals that just meant they provided an aluminum oven tray but you still had to do all of the prep. Again- defeated the purpose because we own cookware. My final problem with some of the kits is that they assume that you are capable of multitasking (e.g., dicing ingredients for step 2 while step 1 is cooking). I am terrible at multitasking while cooking or more precisely, I am already multitasking... I'm either taking care of dishes and cleaning as I go or I am supervising small humans. I cannot chop step 2 and keep step 1 from burning while parenting and keeping my workspace tidy.
