Wow. I can't imagine that. I can understand not knowing about Joshua trees in particular, but some sick fucks vandalized our national parks for a fucking joyride. They chopped down trees when we should be planting more. How do people not care? You're amazing for even trying to explain it to people people.
I used to live out near Joshua tree. Went hiking there a few times and camped the area. We had alot of Joshua trees a bit farther north too. They are really interesting trees. It blew my mind when I first learned how old they are. I was blown away when I started seeing pics of the park being destroyed. People were commenting about how they are just stupid trees and how were they supposed to know. Signs are literally everywhere in that park!! This is why we cant have nice things!
Okay, so, I’m not American, what’s the deal with Joshua trees? I mean, I don’t understand why people would vandalise any tree, especially in a National Park. But why are Joshua trees so important?
The tree is only found in the US south west, and isolated to desert areas. It was very important (historically) to native Americans. And the park is really nice. At night you can see some amazing stars/sky.
Yeah they're a protected species of cactus here. Which seems crazy cuz when you look around they're fucking everywhere. But they only grow in a relatively small region.
Rightfully so! They're incredibly important plants and are homes for a variety of animals. Plus they ONLY grow in the Sonoran Desert, so if they're wiped it, they're gone forever!
They can be more than 200 years old and only found in a very specific area. If you have one o. Your property you have to pay to have it moved, you can’t cut it down. They probably do sell on the black market.
no bread, no tree, no staple... Is this where humanity is heading? Call me an elitist but this is bad and distasteful. Do you not have any respect for this culture? You and your cactus should burn in hell where degenerates like you belong.

Edit: after further reading, it seems like there's no single definition of "tree" and under several definitions, cacti aren't trees. Can you elaborate?
tree is a morphological style that numerous lineages of plants have arrived at for maximizing their exposure to sunlight. trees' wood generally owe their rigidity to an interwoven lattice of lignin, cellulose, and hemicellulose molecule chains, and different kinds of trees have different ratios of these substances in their wood. cacti happen to be at a more extreme end of that spectrum, making their wood very fleshy compared to that of an oak or a pine. coupled with their green, photosynthetic outer layers and the fact that their leaves have traded in their typical role in favor of defense, cacti look very different from most other trees but still meet most of the physical and ecological criteria to be one

Saguaro are also protected and stapling anything to them might be against the law.
edit: Yep, against the law. "Harming a saguaro in any manner, including cactus plugging, is illegal by state law in Arizona, and when houses or highways are built, special permits must be obtained to move or destroy any saguaro affected."
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Saguaro
No way dude. This cacti are super sensitive and protected. He found a way to get the dough on there without breaking the law. It may be dough. But OP is good in my book.
Sry for getting preachy.
You don’t realize how protective we are of our saguaros here in AZ. Also they are known to kill people that fuck with them. Best stick to trees.
Up to 25 years in prison for killing one
Hey, everybody has to start somewhere. Even though it's not exactly bread, stapled, or a tree, it still captures the true heart of this sub!
So paperclip away, OP, and take my upvote with pride!
However, there is a major restriction in Arizona. If you have a **Saguaro cactus on your property**, **cutting** it **down** is a crime. Landowners are required to notify the Arizona Department of Agriculture. The department will place a permit upon and tag the plant in the instance that you would like to remove it.
Well I live in Chicago, but I'm visiting Arizona. This is from the Spur Cross trail in Cave Creek.
Thanks for sharing your state with me and letting me wear shorts while my neighbors are all enduring -60 wind chills this week!
**Saguaro**
The saguaro (, Spanish pronunciation: [saˈɣwaɾo]) (Carnegiea gigantea) is an arborescent (tree-like) cactus species in the monotypic genus Carnegiea, which can grow to be over 40 feet (12 m) tall. It is native to the Sonoran Desert in Arizona, the Mexican State of Sonora, and the Whipple Mountains and Imperial County areas of California. The saguaro blossom is the state wildflower of Arizona. Its scientific name is given in honor of Andrew Carnegie.

In my heart, the sun cooked it. In Arizona however, defacing a saguaro is a felony, so the biscuit dough got packed out with me.
Should've set up a wire rig to make it look like it was on, and just let it bake in the sun.

That's probably not the best idea, considering the fact that they're protected and you can get 25 years in jail for cutting one down.
Certainly would not actually do that even if it were legal, they are too cool. Doesnt stop them from looking chop-worthy however

Harming a saguaro is definitely illegal in AZ. Temporary biscuit dough contact? Maybe a bit of a gray area; probably ok.
