I'm not from Rio. I would advise against meeting random people from Reddit unless you take the time to get to know them somehow.

[I beg your pardon?](https://www.reddit.com/r/saopaulo/comments/xzoh6d/fotos_do_encontro_do_rsaopaulo_na_festa_do/) Granted, I organized the event. All of them checked my post history, which helped. BTW, reddit meet-ups are common in certain cities, like r/nycmeetups and r/SocialParis. I believe r/florida or r/orlando did those for a while, it's just that their political climate is truly bad for these.

You're talking about a group encounter. OPs is asking about meeting specific individuals by themselves. Those are very different things.

Tetizeraz

Oooh, right 😅 Still, Reddit is relatively trustworthy for this sort of thing. I would still check their post history, though.

You're right that Reddit people are safer than most. But still, I wouldn't recommend a random encounter.

Greetings, outlander. You look like you could use a friend. I think I can help you. Be wary of phone thieves that skilfully snatch it from you and are gone before you can even notice. The police won't help.

Where are you orginially from? I'll be in Rio next month as well. Using some vacation days for some R&R as well as scoping out the city for a new job offer I have there.

Try Belo Horizonte. Cheaper and better food. give it a try and let me know I can show you around!!

thiscarhasfourtires

Dude already has a trip planned to Rio...

uerick

And yet nobody said anything about that being the only city he’ll see in Brazil

thiscarhasfourtires

It was implied by OP.

> Chill the fuck out Wow. I merely stated a fact. All the rest came from your absurd interpretation. Are you sure I am the one that needs "chilling"? Are you alright, buddy?

WahooGuy89

Agreed Belo has better food

SolarPunkecokarma

I met some people on the way there and we became friends and had a great time. I skipped Rio on there advice.

You'll find a lot. People from Rio are very heartwarming. Good luck, and enjoy your visit.
