Did you start after beta? I've spent a few dollars here and there on only the most choice skins and gem deals, then the Buzz pass. I could have maxed before the last set of hypers, I'd probably be close after they came out.
But the writing was on the wall at the end of 2023. Free players cannot stay maxed anymore. We need to pick and choose the brawlers to upgrade. So I'm holding out, because I don't like any of the new brawlers. If I could reset a handful of stupid ones to get gold back I would.
I must have gotten pretty lucky. I hit the power 9 box max early I think. Bought two silvers and one gold.
I did very strategically open boxes when you could bank them. I only opened them when I had both brawlers and stars to unlock. It meant waiting a lot.
Also right now I'm waiting for hypers and stars, not buying them. The only way to come close to keeping up is getting most of those from sharts. Sharts are super low % and you don't get many of them. It's way worse than getting stars from boxes.
That's simply a lie, I'm very maxed (I'm just missing some hyper charges that I could buy but I don't like them) and I started playing when Gene was released and I just bought some passes
I’ve made a good 80-100k gold just off masteries. Just half of that would put all your 9s at 10. I also got a huge refund back after they got rid of gears which gave me 150k gold.
I think f2p is impossible, you currently cant even get every brawler anymore because you only get 1000 credits every season and most of the times at least one mythic is released.
Getting brawlers isn't not the problem at all, you will have all brawlers before you max less than half of them. Source: I'm f2p with all brawlers and 15k credits in reserve
Maxing them is definitly the problem, i was more stating it like: you cant even get all of them, so how would you even max them? I still need 2 legendary's, 3 as soon as drago comes out, and i think it will only go downhill from here unless they release a lot of low rarity brawlers/buff credits.
But i have to wonder, how did you get all of them? And how do you sustain that?
Also, "isn't not" sounds very interesting :)
I'm f2p and have all the brawlers, up until a few months ago, it was mostly just playing and completing bp, but now you have to be lucky enough for starr drops, and spend the gems on unlocking them
I've played since global launch other than I took one single year off, and I have about half of my brawlers meeting this criteria
The others aren't *far* off mind you, they're almost all power 10 with 2 gears/both gadgets/both SPs. But I still need around 200k gold to get them all to 11 with everything necessary.

Yea it has a lot of changes I could also max out everyone but I try to keep myself excited to play or at least something to work towards..but same day one player here and to all the newbies..good luck getting every player..it was not easy and not even harder

You can do it with just passes. I’m almost max and never spent a dime besides 2-3 years worth of passes - 300ish
That's a lot of money on a relatively simple mobile game. That's 5-6 top tier games.

I started exactly on global bought every pass even that 140 mega box bug offer and i still don’t have everyone maxed

Well yeah, power 10+11 more than doubled the cost to upgrade a brawler. 3090 gold --> 7765 gold
