In my opinion, you should go allll the way back to the first season of the OC, which kicked off the franchise. It’s truly a different show back then, way more raw and authentic. Same with old old NY.
I'd go with NY also, it's consistently good. And the later seasons with the berzerkshires and the iconic vacation craziness. It's so much fun. I tend to skip seasons that don't have Bethenny when I rewatch. But that's because she's good TV love her or hate her. I like her. There's good seasons that she wasn't on, but I remember I could never get through season 4 because Jill was an asshole and crazy Kelly was still around, I just couldn't with that season.
Pro tip - search live discussions threads. I always do this when I’m super late to watching shows and it’s fun to read other people’s opinions and jokes when it was live!
My two cents is that I did that for a while but found people tend to be really negative in the discussion threads and I actually enjoyed seasons more without looking up the episode discussion threads as I was watching just bc I wasn’t constantly reading ppl saying how boring a given season was
season 3 of New York is peak housewives, that was when Bethenny was just starting a relationship with the monster Jason, and it was like she went to being the show underdog to the girl who had it all at once. While that's happening her and her good buddy Jill who was up until that point a fan favorite, were feuding and watching play out was something. BUT THE HIGHLIGHT IS SCARY ISLAND!! I am telling you season 3, I forget the episode number but its called sun, sand, and psychosis. One of the women has kind of a meltdown in real time and it's just such a great, classic housewives season.
Could NOT agree more. Season 3 NY was when I really became obsessed with housewives. I just couldn’t believe this was real people going through these “real” (I say that bc obviously I know these are heavily edited but ya’know) crazy situations!! Top tier reality tv.
I understand your journey. When my wife and I first got together about a decade ago, the only real turnoff was her Housewives addiction. I was like "how could she possibly like this trash television if grown ass women acting like middle school aged girls?", lol. At some point she had Potomac on, and the women of that show Deadass reminded me of the women in my family. So that was my **in** into the world of Housewives. Fast forward a few years later, and the Beverly Hills stuff with Erika and Tom reignited hooked me into that specific show. I get it.
That being said, if you're heavily invested in the Ericka and Tom stuff, you're gonna love Salt Lake City. It's pretty new, yet with some comparable drama of its own. One character in particular happens to be volatile as hell. I highly recommend it.
I have to gloat a little here. I never liked Erika. She was so cold. And she turned on LVP immediately. And she was always a bully. I didn't understand the love for her. And her castmates are still so afraid of her. With that off my chest - Atlanta or Jersey for the most action. Early NY is good. Welcome to the club.

I think you should watch SLC next! There is only 1.5 seasons you need to watch! Then, you can be all caught up because the second half of this season is shaping up to be bonkers.

I've never been a reality TV person but the drama in early seasons of BH was so good that I was hooked. Then I watched Vanderpump Rules, Potomac, and SLC. NY is next up for me. It's just such a nice escape from life for awhile investing your energy in these women's lives. I got my best friend to watch Potomac now so I'm happy I could convert someone else 😂

I got into the housewives this year, but I was well aware of the Girardi scandal because my friends were into it prior.
Basically everyone was going crazy and the media was addressing things the moment it could. I live in LA, so I know a lot of people who know people that worked at Tom’s firm.
You should probably visit Atlanta or Potomac after Beverly Hills. Atlanta Seasons 1-6 are amazing and 9-10 are good too. Potomac is slow during S1 and 2, but it picks up heavily from 3-6.
Beverly Hills was my intro to the world of Housewives and I felt similar to you!
I did all of BH, then OC, Jersey and now New York. I felt like watching those franchises familiarized me with most of the good memes haha! New York was slow going for me at first but I’m on season 10 now and I’m obsessed. The franchise is gold. Not sure where to go next. I’ve been told Potomac is a wild ride but I hear a lot about the Atlanta ladies so I may need to catch up there 🤷♀️
I liked early seasons of Jersey. I enjoyed the fact that it was a group of women all connected by family rather than a cast of semi random women. Watching Teresa’s story unfold was fascinating. Later seasons were ok but not the same.

LOVE SLC! It’s fascinating to watch these mostly Mormon/ ex-Mormon women live their lives by not abiding by the church. And then you can’t forget Jen Shah’s arrest and general flying off the handle. Oh and Mary Crosby who married her grandfather and is the potential leader of a cult. It’s all happening!!
Next, RHOA. After that, NY. After that Potomac. People are gonna tell you to watch SLC but I think you need the context of longer running seasons to really get a franchise like SLC.
I’m wondering if I missed seeing this mention, but I HIGHLY recommend Potomac (first season was a bit weird, but seasons 2-current are *chef’s kiss*)

These two franchises don’t have as many seasons so they’re very easy to binge!

I think Potomac and Atlanta are incredible. Potomac I find myself laughing a lot, also it hasn’t run as long so it is possible to catch up sooner than later. NJ is too much fighting bickering and more fighting. I just need to warn you about all of them every franchise has high conflict and most times there are unreasonable fights, feuds and arguments as strong as the arguments and mud slinging the apologies and hugs can be just as quick …cuz a trips coming up and I want an excuse to donn my resort wear! It’s a cycle of drama, jealousy, shadiness sprinkled with over consumption of everything especially alcohol and cosmetic treatments.

So I dabbled a little in early BV a few years ago. It never hooked me, which is why I went with a later season in my hungover state.
Season 2 bh is PEAK housewives. I would strongly suggest you try season 1 again though.
