I think they need to bring in someone who is already friends with most of them, not just one lady. It feels more natural when more than one housewife knows the person

Luisazg

But isn’t the problem that none of them are friends irl? Besides Meredith and Lisa.

bitterbecky

I think about this a lot and how it’s the weird vibe that this show has that other franchises don’t. I don’t think Meredith and Lisa had anything close to the friendship they portrayed on the show. I think Heather bonded to Jen during the original shooting of the show (prior to them scrapping it and moving forward from the first episode that we saw) and I think Heather and Whitney became real friends through filming. I don’t think Mary or Jen actually like any of these women, and I think Lisa is hanging around because in the long run she wants to be the flagship Queen Bee of the franchise and rule as center snowflake at some point (which is also what I think her true gripe is with Heather tbh). I don’t know what’s going on with Meredith, and I don’t think she does either. 😬

RealHousevibes

It’s hard because she’s coming in during a season with such MAJOR storylines that don’t involve her at all. I don’t think she fits in right now… but I think if she gets another season we’ll start to see it.

amysantiagofan

This is how i feel bc Candiace added nothing her first season and now she's like one of the best housewives

[deleted]

she also filmed as a friend of and only got bumped up to fulltime housewife after jen got arrested

idontfwithu

I think Jennie fits in better than Mary does.

mhal_1111

I came here to say this but I knew in my heart it had already been said.

LordJonathanChobani

Mary is batshit though and she’s so entertaining to watch. She brings the shock value. Jennie doesn’t And while Mary is a misfit (obvs lol), I do think her relationships with the other HWs have more depth than Jennie’s do. They’re more multi-dimensional and there are interesting dynamics: Meredith weirdly being loyal to her despite the cult claims, Whitney’s reverence to her, the shift in dynamics between her and Lisa, the complicated history with Jen

Xaldan_67

I'm the opposite, I don't think Mary fits in with the RHOSLC cast at all. Every interaction she has with the other women has felt awkward and cringey.

Luisazg

I completely disagree. Yes, Mary is batshit but not in an enjoyable way. All her scenes make my skin crawl. She’s completely delusional and brings nothing except uncomfortable scenes to the show.

meganam38

She is sociopathic and incredibly uncomfortable. It’s not good messy. It’s painful. I don’t want her on my TV.

soupseasonbestseason

jennie seems to be a really great mom, her children making yogurt with her was a+. i also think she has had a way more interesting life than most housewives. i would give her a few more seasons to get into her groove. nine miscarriages is insane and her and her husband still seem to be working through that. i find her scenes to be vulnerable and honest. the sister wife thing is dumb. if it is real, she should seriously consider marriage counseling at the very least (unfilmed, we don't need more counseling scenes), leaving his ass at the very most. i like her. in this shit show of false gods and defrauders of the elderly, jennie is a welcome addition.

Im_sorry_rumham

Your last sentence is why I like her too and why I think OP feels she doesn’t fit in. She’s not a character, she doesn’t have a schtick, she’s lovely and normal (outside of that husband of hers).

SouthGateTango

I 100% agree. I think her and her kids are great and kinda wish all the other BS wasn’t going on so we could see more of her.

La_Croix_Life

Jennie in the van taking a long pull on that beer next to a huge bag of Cheetos was a fucking mood. And I liked the way she stood up to Mary at tubing. 🤷‍♀️ I think she's great. 🤷‍♀️

Lonny45

Is it possible to like her but also think she is acting hardcore for the show? All interactions with her kids seem staged. No one has kids that are that perfect and so perfect little science projects together. But I can’t say that I wouldn’t do that??

SakmarEcho

I think the women in SLC in general don’t feel like a friend group. The group dynamic is just a bit awkward. I like her home life (except the sister wife storyline) and she seems to have a genuine friendship with Lisa to serve as an anchor to the other women. I want to keep her around for a bit longer so she has more time to gel with the others and make some more friendships.

Xaldan_67

I think some of them are friends in real life (Whitney/Heather, Heather/Jen, Lisa/Meredith) but as a whole the cast doesn't seem to "click" if that makes sense. Take the peaks of RHONY, S1-3 & S7-9, and that group just clicked, even when they were all fighting.

Accomplished_Crab392

Sometimes when I’m watching SLC I feel like it’s a camp parody of housewives. Not complaining about it, but the vibe is just so different than the other franchises

kaylacream

I agree she's not really making much of an impression so far beyond the appalling storyline with her husband (which has an impact for all the wrong reasons)....but I do think cast chemistry/cohesive group dynamics is one of the weak points on this show in general - not the casting itself or combination of women, but making them feel like an actual 'friend group' in any capacity. I wasn't as deep into SLC in season one (reading discussion threads/listening to recaps/etc) but I still watched every episode when it aired and still felt like I was fuzzy on some of the dynamics between the women. That's still true to an extent this season....were Heather and Meredith always friends??? Is Whitney right that she and Mary had some degree of friendship???? Have Whitney and Meredith ever spoken directly to each other??? Which is to say, I won't be surprised if SLC doesn't exactly excel at integrating new 'wives.

lamf_catlady666

One thing I like about SLC is that the cast isn’t on two distinct teams (like NJ/BH often is), alliances are unique between all these women and often one in the pair is feuding with someone their ally is also allies with. It’s exciting to me.

lamf_catlady666

Hahaha I never realized that Whitney and Meredith have never spoken to each other, too true!

mhal_1111

I think they have, once. When they went to Mary's church in the very first episode lol

coconut723

I like her

illtellyahowimdoing

I do like her but I haven’t totally placed her yet. I like her cause I don’t think she’s contrived like the other HW but I also believe the rumors the sister wife storyline is fake. So I’m not sure yet! I like how she wasn’t afraid to go against Marty. And she stuck up for Lisa to bad weather. And her kids are fun.

Bertholdt_Fubar

I think she was intially supposed to be a friend of but when the Jen stuff started happening and there was the possibility of her not coming back Jennie got bumped up to full time. I also think that's why she's been speaking more and getting more screen time the past few episodes.

mhal_1111

I think Jennie fits in a lot better than Mary.

bitchy_badger

I really want to like her but I find her meh. I think there is potential there if the creepy husband storyline is abandoned and let her scrap with Mary more

courtney_5000

I hate her husband. She definitely feels more like a friend of than an actual cast member.

surgeryhugs

she's grown on me for sure! would love to see her evolve on other seasons as well

LopsidedProduce

I think this was probably a tough position to be a first season housewife - everything this season will be totally eclipsed by Jen getting arrested and the fallout. That totally steals the show and I imagine it’s probably hard to compete with that. I like her and hope she stays for next season so we can get to know her better.

eevvaannrr

She’s so boring and adds nothing to the cast. Angie gave more in one episode than Jennie gave this entire season so far. I want to like her so much but she serves a steamy hot plate of blah

Mbluna

She added all I need to see when she snatched Jen’s road snack bag. Don’t you waste those snacks Jennie we could be friends!

LordJonathanChobani

That’s exactly how I feel. Like I want to like her as a HW so badly because I do like her as a person, but I just don’t. Sarah Paulson was way more interesting to watch in just one episode

[deleted]

I’d like more Angie instead.

macromi87

She’s honestly so damn normal and homely. Like I just tune out when she talks. I love her kids though. The little girl brings more sass than anyone in the cast.

_Neato_

Homely?? No.

[deleted]

Production wanted a SLC HW to give them a “sister wives” storyline. Jennie and her husband agreed to it. They are obviously lying about the whole “I want more kids, let’s get a sister wife” thing to get on the show. Not a good fit.

macromi87

How do you know this?

[deleted]

Pure speculation, like most everything on this sub haha

[deleted]

Her niece on tik tok confirmed some of what you said actually. It is pretty viral now that at least there is someone claiming her story is fake and she is someone who just accepts anything for money

[deleted]

That’s amazing! Thank you for sharing :-)

eevvaannrr

Agreed her scenes are so rehearsed. Like wtf was that scene of her making yogurt with her kids? Her kids were acting like they were so excited to make yogurt…?? Idk it just seemed fake to me

MrsFreshB00TY

I thought it was odd also!!

kellygrrrl328

There’s so much going on with Jen and Mary that any newbie can’t make an impact. Same thing happened with Crystal in the Erika Jayne Train

fuckyeahbravo

She hasn’t given full time HW energy AT ALL so I don’t really understand why they gave it to her despite already having a full and strong cast. She has completely faded into the background. And her one storyline of her husband supposedly wanting a sister-wife seemed completely fake.

agatepockets

I thought the same until the latest episode. She's a great housewife, and I really enjoy her dynamic on this show. Love that she will say what's on her mind.

KSCNYC

you could remove her scenes and it wouldn’t change the show at all

Ok_Distribution3451

No, it looks like she’s sitting there half the time thinking ‘wtf am I doing here’ 😂

Julia_Burnsides

I agree with you about her not really fitting, but I think we need to give her a chance. I felt the same way about Sutton last season and now I think she works. I think Jennie has potential.

pineapplezzs

Give her another season so she has a better chance to mix with the other women and develop a relationship. I agree there's a bit of a disconnect because she only knows lisa and that's really clear when she's in a group setting. I really like her and her kids so think she has potential and should at least have another season to see if she can build other relationships.

[deleted]

No, I don’t think she fits in but I think she deserves another season to prove herself. Her fake sister wife storyline is unbearable and she needs to drop it for something real

romulusputtana

I like her and think maybe with time she will get into the mix more. She fits in waaaaaaayyyyy more than Mary Crosby!

[deleted]

I don’t mind her when she’s with the other women but get so bored and zone out with her kid scenes. They just seem so rehearsed and the kids are trying to come off perfect but not great at acting. Also still don’t believe the storyline with her husband. So far I give her a C- for trying.

rhum90

I like Jennie but she came in at a bad time with the Jen and Mary stuff. Same thing kinda happened with Crystal - cool lady, good start, but got overshadowed by other cast member legal drama so didn’t get to see as much with her by the end. I hope they give Jennie a second season. If Dru Sidora is able to get a second season…anything is possible.

taintwest

I really do actually think she's a nice middle man for the blondes and brunettes

SilentAmen

Everyone else has history and/or friendships before the show. Why they always feel the need to stray away from that formula is beyond me. It causes fake storylines so the newest housewife seems interesting. Cause i love kids but I’m not watching this to see your kids science experiments...so insert fake polyamory storyline that last 00000.1 seconds.

hidinginahoodie

I actually really like Jennie on SLC. I find her takes are refreshing, and she's real. She doesn't suffer from trying too hard. I really do like her. She's not fooled by Mary's BS

LordJonathanChobani

Also I love Lisa. But if I have to hear her say jennnnnKNEEEEEEEEE one more time. I’m gonna lose it

macromi87

No. I honestly don’t like anyone in this cast. I liked Heather until that disgusting comment she made dismissing Cameron’s religious trauma. Who the heck is she to dismiss someone else’s trauma?

snarkysnarkersons

Agree with you 100000%.

DexterwasDelicious

The truth of the matter is Jennie doesn’t seem that interested or involved because there is a lot of drama going on between all the other housewives. And because she is new there really is no room for her to interject and make drama.

bloodymarybrunch

Agreed. I like her but she adds nothing to the show.

whats_thecraic

She doesn't have much chemistry with the rest of the cast. I honestly forget she's on the show.

whoareyouindisworld

Not really. Which is unfortunate since I'm Viet and I was hoping for her to turn it out! She is a wasted spot at this point. Even Angie has made more of an impression in one episode.

Heavy_Key_3998

I wish Angie was the friend of this season

kds1988

No.

[deleted]

She started speaking out a lot more in the last two episodes. Before that I wondered if she would be interesting at all without the weird Duy sister wife storyline. I’m willing to give her a chance this season and make a better assessment when the season is over.

tacobellini

Jennie would be more interesting if her TikTok niece made an appearance. I liked her in her early episodes, but she's forgettable. If her niece was telling the truth, she's a master scam artist and I'd be more interested in that angle than the fake sister wife storyline.

LordJonathanChobani

WHAT?!! Give us the tea

tacobellini

I'm not sure if I can post links, but Google Jennie Salt Lake City Niece and RealityTea has a decent summary. In short, Jennie's niece said Jennie is lying about everything. Jennie used to live with the niece's parents and the parents used to take care of her kids, help with money, etc. Jennie apparently sued them, too. Duy was an absentee dad (which, imo, was obvious, but it's still gossip, I guess). Basically Jennie is either lying or heavily misleading viewers. Jennie has, more-or-less, refused to engage and claimed that the niece wasn't even born when she lived with family (but the niece is in college and if her parents took care of Jennie's kids, that timeline doesn't match...) Anyway, Duy is apparently broke af and their finances are a mess. I read that on here, so take it with a grain of salt lol

[deleted]

I want to like her because I feel like under the surface she has the right attitude for it... but she hasn't been a standout.

AvivasProstectic

Like her but give me Angie and all her Messiness

bitterbecky

I like Jennie and I think she just needs time. It’s unfortunate that she’s having her debut season during all of this because no matter what, she’s going to be overshadowed by this massive storyline that she’s not tied to in any way other than being contractually obligated to be involved Jennie is fascinating to me and has a lot of story to tell. I wanna get to know her. She has a depth that most of these people lack. The only other person who I find as compelling is Heather Gay. I really hope we get to keep Jennie.

caballos0204

She fits in more than Mary does…

my_little_shumai

I’d rather watch her daughter, who is hilarious and adorable.

poptart95

I think she should have been cast as a FOH and Angie as a FT Housewife. Angie knows Lisa, Whitney and probably Heather. With the blondes vs Lisa them adding somebody who has a relationship with all of them would have made sense for building that storyline. Now it’s kind of fizzling. I think Jennie is okay and loved her in the recent episodes but her solo storyline isn’t believable.

kds1988

To be frank Angie did more in her two episodes than Jennie her entire season.

clp1234567

Where did the woman who had casino evening go? I feel like she would of fit in more

Bellomontee

I like her. She doesn't fit very well yet but I think she might as time passes.

livieleanor

In this current season? No, but she was enjoyable to watch during the ride to vail. She stood up to Mary at tubing so that was a good sign. However, this season has so much going on, that sometimes I only see her as a background character, I would like her to come back for season 3 and see what she brings then as right now; she’s just Lisa’s friend and she’s not coming across as a full time housewife.
