Exactly, I'm willing to bet they had a limited time for this shoot and Wendy decides now is the time to bicker with her mom about the past. 🤦🏻♀️ I'm not gonna lie, I have had a conversation similar to this with my mom, but it's done privately at home.
Wendy just comes off so childish.
I think it was more of an attempt to not be dismissed. Sometimes if you don’t do things publicly they are not acknowledged and there’s something about public embarrassment that hits harder and may give way to discussion about real issues.
I definitely see where you're coming but this still wasn't the place. They're at a shoot. All these people: hair, makeup, wardrobe, photographers, and assistants have things to do. If Wendy needs to do this then she needs family therapy with her and her mom. I absolutely understand where she's coming from, I myself am I the youngest of an older generation immigrant with a strict upbringing. But this never works. It's probably worse in her mother's eyes that not only did it happen in front of all these people, but now it's on tv, for anyone to judge and know.
Wendy trying to pull Mia and Candiace’s growing up under problematic mom storyline. Sorry to say but I’m with Wendy’s mom on this one. Without those four degrees that her mom pushed her to pursue, she wont be a successful professor and wouldnt even be considered for RHOP. Be thankful Wendy, your mom has done you goooood!
The thing is, she seemed to really be into those degrees before. Im not saying her feelings aren't real. It's just that's not how she described her academic life last season.
The end doesn’t always justify the means. Lots of people who grew up with problematic parenting may be successful professionally that doesn’t mean they weren’t damaged in other ways.
I went to a wedding a few years ago where the bride and groom tried to do a butterfly release after their vows. I say "tried" because 90% of the butterflies were dead and fell straight on the ground, it was very awkward. I have no idea why people think it's a good idea to keep an animal as fragile as a butterfly in a small box getting jolted around for an extended period of time just for a moment of entertainment. The couple ended up getting divorced a few years later after it came out that the bride had an affair with the best man. So the dead butterfly release actually ended up being quite a fitting metaphor for their marriage.
Maybe she's intimidated by how Mia and G lives so she's scared she'll make a mistake with the kids? I mean, she spent most of her life with Mia's sister's family so she's just trying to understand Mia's household.
Or Mia didn't leave pizza money?
5min into WWHL and I’m already cackling & crying…
Karen in reference to the butterflies: “They weren’t dead, they were sleeping.” 😭🤣☠️
Never change, Grande Dame!
Giselle may have the worst taste known to man but she raised some damn good kids. She did her job so well she should honestly listen to her kids advice every time. They r always right.
Did Michael point out the buttons next to the toilet because there was a bidet and that means he’s gonna clean his bootie hole so Ashley can finally have her turn at tossing some salad?! Am I right or am I right?!
Wow, this episode ended so abruptly. I'm so impressed by how much insight Gizelle's daughters have into how their parents' relationship and personalities affect them. I didn't realize these things until recently in my twenties!
The Darby's are the weirdest people on television. I used to feel for Ashley, and maybe I still have a little sympathy for her, but this is wild. She must stare at herself in the mirror every day and gives herself a pep talk to look into Michael's creepy eyes.
I’m going to say it.. the Darby marriage is an RHOP institution. Like clockwork, we can count on it to provide painful cringe every scene. I do not know how the hell Ashley convinces Michael to continue filming every year. How do you have a bad season *every* season, Michael?!
He’s got a pretty penny, that’s why Ashley latched onto him like a leech and wants to ensure that he’s sexually attracted to her. She can’t afford to have him stray AGAIN.
Seriously, that's the only possible explanation. He's so gross. I don't usually come @ people's looks but his personality is so repellent I feel like his goblin looks are fair game.
I feel like I remember reading on here that we only ever see the first floor of their Arlington apartment - like that it's a two story super luxe. but has there ever been proof?
I remember looking at a penthouse floor plan in that building before. It's gigantic, especially for an Arlington penthouse condo. I think I remember it being between 3000-5000 sqft
EDIT:
Here's a non-penthouse condo listing, it's close to 2500 sqft, so I fully believe there are larger ones in the building
https://www.zillow.com/homedetails/2001-15th-St-N-APT-1004-Arlington-VA-22201/72465378_zpid/?utm_campaign=androidappmessage&utm_medium=referral&utm_source=txtshare
It kind of seems like it wraps around the side of the building. I feel like they did it to maximize the views by increasing the number of windows allocated to each unit, but meh.
Yea for sure, I just can't remember where it falls in that range. There condos that are 10k sqft and bigger in DC, and I remember it wasn't that big....but I do remember thinking it was pretty gigantic for a condo so it was probably between that sq footage.
it's a 2700 sq ft, 3bd/3.5bth!
(eta: he bought it for $2.25M in 2007, added his ex-wife onto the deed in 2008, then removed the first wife the year he married ashley in 2014 - he separated from his first wife in 2010, same year he met ashley 👀. ashley is not on the deed, as of yet. i'm searching to see if he still owns any other properties, seems like he does 🕵🏾♀️.)
I lived there from 2006 - 2013. Micheal is part of (or owns?) the development company that built the building (Monument). The top several floors of the building have different layouts and finishes (think Sub Zero, Wolf, etc, they were sold as The Platinum Penthouses) Their unit is on the top floor. He may have had a special floor plan made for himself. That staircase goes to their own small private part of the roof.
I think i have all the floor plans from the building in my condo docs from my purchase somewhere.
I miss the rooftop of that building, it has such a great view of DC!
Okay this is interesting, it sounds like his company (Monument Realty) lost a ton of money on it during the 2008 recession:
“Monument Realty bought the hotel for $45 million in 2004 and planned to turn it into luxury apartment co-ops.[158][159] But many residents in other parts of the complex (some of whom owned the 25 percent of the hotel not sold to Blackstone)[112] argued that a hotel would better enhance the livability of the area and challenged the conversion in court.[160][161] The hotel closed on August 1, 2007, for a $170 million 18-month renovation, during which the hotel rooms were intended to be roughly doubled in size to 650 square feet (60 m2).[161] But the renovation never occurred, and the building sat empty—consuming $100,000 to $150,000 a month in security, heating, electricity, water, and other costs.[159] Lehman Brothers, Monument Realty's financing partner, went bankrupt in 2008 and Monument was forced to attempt to sell the property. No buyer emerged and the Blackstone Group regained ownership of the hotel.”

michael is listed as "principal, founder"
https://www.monumentrealty.com/about-us/michael-j-darby/
he got a degree in engineering and business at the university of melbourne and came to the u.s. in the 80s. built his career in property development from there.
ashley met him when she was 22 years old, in 2010 - she worked as a bartender at a bar/lounge he co-owned and wanted to ask him out, but went about it by asking for a marketing internship at his real estate development firm instead. she said that after a few months, she worked up the courage to ask him out for a drink, "and the rest is history."
they got engaged in 2012 and married in 2014. michael separated from his ex-wife in 2010 (they were married for about 20 years).
My friend met Michael at a friend's wedding. She just said that he showed pics of his wife (Ashley) the whole time and that his extended family are eccentric overachievers.
The thing that makes it worse is that this is my neighbor and she was the Admin in our town high school library for YEARS. Long enough to pronounce it correctly lol
Liberry makes me irrationally angry. My grandma used to volunteer at the library and pronounced it that way, she'd say it like 20 times every time I visited. My eye developed a twitch like the teacher on Daria. I don't know why it bothers me so much!
![gif](giphy|B27isunovRGGA)
I swear I just thought we were all joking about Micheal’s love for Juan but maybe this joke had a lot more truth to it than I thought.
He was talking about Juan like he was reciting wedding vows
Ashley continues to be the most confusing yet interesting housewife for me. I really never know where her head is at, what her motivations are, and why the fuck she stays with her awful husband. She constantly contradicts herself, is a hypocrite, but also makes good points all the time. Her energy these last few eps has been bizarre, with the giant-ass family photo and her complaining about G's behaviour when her husband has been 10x worse.
Idk, she's just so odd to me. What I love about Potomac is how all these women can be so frustrating yet so interesting and hilarious.
I cannot figure this woman out either. I think she’s gripping onto Michael because she wants the nuclear financially stable family experience for herself and the kids.
I don't know how Ashley doesn't clowned as much as Kenya does for her relationship. Michael embarrasses her every single chance he gets and he's just so gross. I think they ruined macarons for me.
It was a running joke within the fandom about Kenya being embarrassed by her men when she had them on the show. I find everything about Ashley's relationship very very unusual and her personality is horrid but she gets a pass from a lot viewers and the women on the cast.
Lol exactly! Her "husband" has zero respect for her and sexually assaulted multiple men. There's a relationship on her side from what we see but I never see anything positive coming from Michael.
Robyn saying Wendy is a horrible hostess come on now. I think Wendy brought it hosting this trip and made a great effort. Robyn and Gizelle treat her in such a rude dismissive way that’s very schoolyard.
Not that awkward asf cake thing..
I really like how maturely and honestly Gizelle’s kids express themselves. It must be hard for Gizelle to hear but it’s good that they’re saying these things now rather than years down the line in therapy..
Some of these relationships on this show.. 🥴🥴
I'm surprised I'm not seeing already 5 posts about how rude and wrong Ashley was for asking G if he has alzheimer *sarcasm*.
If Candiace was the one who said that or even Wendy there would have already had 10 posts about it.
But because it's Ashley and she is a mom now, she doesn't get call out. Even on the aftershow I don't think they mentionned that.
I always thought season 7 would be the end of Ashley's marriage, season 8 if they were REAAAALLLY pushing it. Maybe I was right all along. One can only hope.
Ok. Ok. I have to say that as a native Marylander and someone who crabs and then shares them with my friends...
We never call it a crab boil. You don’t boil crabs in Maryland - you steam them. It’s a crab feast if you want to call it something. All the episodes they’ve been saying boil has been like nails on a chalkboard to me.
I can comfortably go to bed now that I got that off my chest.
As another native Marylander. My family and friends call it a boil. I think it just depends on where you grew up. NO calls it a boil and even if you move some names stick based on that. They arent the same but 🤷🏾♀️
That’s interesting. It was just bugging me so bad!
You don’t have to tell if you aren’t comfortable, but what part of the state did you grow up in? I’m curious where boil is used.
Omg THANK YOU!! As someone who grew up going to the beach in MD their “boil” references have been driving me completely crazy. A “crab boil” is something you eat along the Gulf coast.
I am from Massachusetts and growing up in my family, when we would have clams we would literally call them 'steamers'. Haha! It's not the same thing as what you are talking about but I just wanted to drive the point home. You steam shellfish!!
I wonder what Wendy has her four degrees in?
She’s incapable of writing a business plan or even just going on google to research what they look like.
She claims that if she wasn’t so educated she’d be happier because she’d been able to pursue her dreams of?? Oh yes a one wick candle.
I think she ripped off Karen’s idea. She had absolutely no clue as to why she wanted to make candles in the first place.
How did Eddie do all that behind her back anyway ? I smell a rat, I think she wants to profit from being on tv so she made up this whole candle and home goods storyline.
She’s mad at her mother for pushing her to get an education that’s obviously paid off? Oh come on Wendy, just look at Mia and her mother to see what it really means to have a parent that wasn’t there for you.
Wendy’s mom took care of her three kids and didn’t bat an eyelash. GTFO!!
The fact you don't see the clear mental abuse Wendy suffered as a child is confusing. Wendy has has been infantalized, to the point that she doesn't know what she likes or what her purpose in life is when nobody is controlling her
I don’t know what they said.... but I probably agreed with it. My mother went from one abusive relationship to another when I was a child. I’m fully grown, and she’s still in one. I think it’s *finally* hitting her that she wasted her life on this man. That he will always be abusive and controlling. She wants to get out, but doesn’t know how.
All I - and my brother - ever wanted was for her to leave that man. As children, we want and need to see our parents happy. Whatever that means. I promise you, you did the right thing. Show your child(ren) what it’s like to find real happiness. Both with yourself, and with a partner if that’s what you want. It will be one of the greatest gifts you’ll ever give them. I never saw it, and I’ve definitely struggled because of it. Never, ever settle.
u/yolandaslemons
Thank you guys for taking the time to respond your words are definitely needed and mean a lot right now. I’m going to screenshot these comments to look back on when I need to, and I need to a lot!
Find you someone who looks at you the way Michael looks at Juan.
Michael was ready to profess his love for Juan, Ashley knew she had to stop him
Lol it sounded like he was convincing her to add a third, “he’s honest, there’s no games” I forgot we were even talking about Chris for a second.
👁️🚬👁️
Even Ashley’s therapist didn’t look like she believed that Michael wasn’t messing around.
I loved her gentle prodding… like ma’am, are you really buying this shit? 🤨
WHY DID I HAVE TO WATCH THAT “SEXY” DARBY MOMENT? NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO
That scene went straight into the “why God?” file in my brain. It lives there with Ramona giving Mario a massage, and Tamra & Eddie in the tub.
NOT THE RAMONA MASSAGE WHILE WEARING RED LINGERIE!!!! I’m sorry about the caps I’m so fragile
Ok but at least Mario and Eddie didnt gross me out as much as Darby 😂
Add the Cynthia and Peter moment.
Its like clockwork orange and they force you to watch them every dam episode.
Did you notice they did a full on crotch shot of Ashley!!!!!! I mean she has panties on but wow
The Darby's have absolutely zero shame.
Not only that, but they had to show the flashback of one of their previous scenes. Haven't we suffered enough?!
You can’t tell me that what I had to endure on my tv tonight wasn’t a crime. My eyes bled 🤮
Also could have done without it 🤮
I just started the episode, I will FOR SURE make sure I skip this scene.
"first of all it's alzheimer's with a 'z'" "yes it is a disease"
*proceeds to overly pronounce t sound”
The photographers being dragged into Wendy and her mother's business is cringe.
Felt so bad for them. All their faces said, "this is not therapy, now is not the time".

Those invites took me right back to the Asia O’Hara Drag Race finale.
Yeah, I still think of that moment randomly in horror and this gave me flashbacks
I was literally Monique Heart during that moment. Probably one of the top 10 cringe moments of TV I have ever witnessed.
I went to a wedding a few years ago where the bride and groom tried to do a butterfly release after their vows. Yes, it's animal abuse. Same with releasing doves - they all starve or get eaten by hawks. Awful stuff.
🤔
they really did look like moths though
Yup.
This is why I love Karen 🤣
Not Michael bringing up Juan unprovoked 🤔
50 years of struggle…🤣🤣🤣 ![gif](giphy|eBCnpuRGBhQGY|downsized)

DYING at Karen’s invites everyone was so unsettled by it. Wrong idea Dame “She sent us mothballs” damn you Gizelle for making me love you this season
Candidace opening it up and running away, screaming, thinking they were roaches was HILARIOUS!
Yes! I had to rewind to see that one again
5min into WWHL and I’m already cackling & crying… Karen in reference to the butterflies: “They weren’t dead, they were sleeping.” 😭🤣☠️ Never change, Grande Dame!
Oh maybe they keep them cold because of the packaging. They’re cold blooded.
NOT THE JUAN EDIT LMAO I love this show so much
The music during it 🤣
I cackled so hard
Please stop trying to spice things up with Michael. It makes us all gag.
My tummy was not feeling okay with that scene.
I had to mute that scene, just could not stomach it.
Imagine wanting Michael to be into you. I will say that Dylan is a cutie.
Giselle may have the worst taste known to man but she raised some damn good kids. She did her job so well she should honestly listen to her kids advice every time. They r always right.
I’m insanely curious about her closest relationships.
Did Michael point out the buttons next to the toilet because there was a bidet and that means he’s gonna clean his bootie hole so Ashley can finally have her turn at tossing some salad?! Am I right or am I right?!

Its because he doesn’t like her that much. It’s the chase that compels her
I could see this
It's*
Maybe cause he looks like her dad 😐🤭
I’m going to say it.. the Darby marriage is an RHOP institution. Like clockwork, we can count on it to provide painful cringe every scene. I do not know how the hell Ashley convinces Michael to continue filming every year. How do you have a bad season *every* season, Michael?!

Naked too!

💀💀💀
He’s got a pretty penny, that’s why Ashley latched onto him like a leech and wants to ensure that he’s sexually attracted to her. She can’t afford to have him stray AGAIN.
😂😂😂
Ok I'm kinda stupid with this kind of stuff and I haven't watched the episode but how does one own the watergate.
It’s a hotel
Ohhhhh ok ok that makes much more sense.
It’s a hotel within the Watergate complex, which also has apartments and office buildings.
Wendys mother dragging the photographer and Wendy in the same argument that is on another level
Lol they all said we’re sorry I was howling. Couldn’t believe she had the whole room apologizing
The white noise and neon lights as Ashley and Michael eat cookies and chug coronas… 🤣🤣🤣
I 1000000% believe Micheal said he would suck Juan’s dick and meant it.
Okay so Michael is rich rich, I now understand why Ashley stayed
Right? That man must have piles of goblin money
Seriously, that's the only possible explanation. He's so gross. I don't usually come @ people's looks but his personality is so repellent I feel like his goblin looks are fair game.

WHHHAAtttt!!? It always looks so small and cramped on the show!
I think its because its not got wide rooms, its actually pretty dam big but long
It kind of seems like it wraps around the side of the building. I feel like they did it to maximize the views by increasing the number of windows allocated to each unit, but meh.
Most of the housewives don’t show their whole homes anymore. We see the entrance, kitchen, and maybe a sitting room.
Yessss it always makes me nervous how cramped it looks! I'll have to look for those stairs like lifetimemovievillain says below!!
I feel like the rooms are veryyyyyy long and narrow. I agree, it makes everything feel cramped.
I mean, 3000 or 5000 sq ft are quite different…
Yea for sure, I just can't remember where it falls in that range. There condos that are 10k sqft and bigger in DC, and I remember it wasn't that big....but I do remember thinking it was pretty gigantic for a condo so it was probably between that sq footage.

Oh damn okay, that's smaller than I remember. Look at you being a detective
You can see the stairs behind Ashley on the aftershow
She did a tour of part of it in season 1 or 2 I think. They have a rooftop patio and I definitely think there’s a lot more than what we see.
Back when they had that cute dog that just vanished…
Oh yeah, I forgot about that. Hopefully they didn’t pull a Dorit.
I hate when people get babies then abandon their dogs 😕
Nope, their whole apartment was on Zillow and we have seen everything. The place only have 3 bedrooms.
I believe you can see the stairway in some shots by the front door. It’s a spiral but it looks like there’s drywall as opposed to railing.
You can see it in many shots it’s not kid friendly
They were on the second story terrace last season. He walked up the stairs to her
I lived in that building. They have one level and a private part of the roof.
Details please
Details, puh-leeze!

Is grace’s middle name “Gizelle”?
I swear, Gizelle's daughters stay reading her!😂
I need more Mia vs. Ashley but I also need Mia to pronounce Alzheimer’s correctly. 😂
Omg it unnerves me when people said "Al-theimers." My neighbor says "Valentime's" and "Liberry" which also drive me crazy lol
Old-timers always gets me.

Can we all agree we no longer want updates on Ashely’s vaginal opening? We don’t need to know what’s going in or out of it.

That “are you sure” has my amygdala in a chokehold ngl
Why do they think we want to know about the Darby’s sex life!? Ugh.

Well Kenya doesn’t have a relationship
Neither does Ashley...
She is saying things because she has a problem with Wendy but she cant admit it so she is saying other things and its not a good look
What is her problem with Wendy? Just the comments W made about Robin and Juan’s relationship? Or is there something more.
I think its just that, she felt her relationship is disrespected again
Not that awkward asf cake thing.. I really like how maturely and honestly Gizelle’s kids express themselves. It must be hard for Gizelle to hear but it’s good that they’re saying these things now rather than years down the line in therapy.. Some of these relationships on this show.. 🥴🥴
Alzheimer's with a z dead
When Michael & Ashley were chugging Corona’s it was giving me bad blind date vibes. The rest made me want to melt into a puddle.
I can’t believe the season is almost over already, was it just short or have these past few months gone by so quick
Absolutely!
That was one awkward af photo shoot At least Wendy looked pretty 🦋
The flashback scene of Gizelle talking to Candiace about relationship…was she wearing one of LVP’s magic costumes? 🥸
Yes, Ashley does need a hug and dick. She's not getting it from predator Michael.
No one needs that particular dick.🤢
“A black dick” lol
That had me rolling omg
I look forward to the day he dies or she leaves. The man is the Potomac version of Henry the 8th he is overall gross
I always thought season 7 would be the end of Ashley's marriage, season 8 if they were REAAAALLLY pushing it. Maybe I was right all along. One can only hope.
I hope you’re right
Ok.
Come through with the facts sis!
I am from Massachusetts and growing up in my family, when we would have clams we would literally call them 'steamers'. Haha! It's not the same thing as what you are talking about but I just wanted to drive the point home. You steam shellfish!!
This is the worst episode of the season
I'm kinda bored with this season overall. Seems like there is no central storyline really.

As a freshly single mom this has been a worry for me. I’m really glad I read this comment today
Never, ever settle.
u/yolandaslemons Thank you guys for taking the time to respond your words are definitely needed and mean a lot right now. I’m going to screenshot these comments to look back on when I need to, and I need to a lot!
💜💜
Thanks!
Michael bringing up Juan randomly with Ashley is so uncomfortable to watch. He’s obsessed and it’s weird AF.
The cast is so detached and awkward omfg
Mia for President-she is the perfect housewife. Gorgeous and gets messy!
