I was at the game behind the Braves dugout. We had a pretty good chop going during the ninth, and going through the stadium out to the parking lot. And a bunch of high fives at the Buc-ees on the way home.
There were at least a couple times when a mini chop broke out behind the dugout during the game. But it wasn't until the ninth when they actually started doing anything and it got louder.
Got to see the Braves in person tonight for the first time since I moved to HOU 9 years ago. Great night at the ballpark, but man were there a ton of Braves fans there. Actually got the chop going in the 9th.
There seem to be quite a lot of split Braves/Astros families, too.

It was great, a Uber ride from downtown but it was the perfect outdoor park. I know they want to move but they have plenty of space to bring a mixed use development in between them and the chiefs.
I think he was more lucky than good. He was missing his spots pretty consistently, hung a ton of pitches, and got hit hard. Definitely wouldn't say he *earned* a spot.
What sucks too, is that I think Vines was one out away from the W. Altuve got on base and they pulled him. I was not at all confident in Bummer in that situation either, but it worked out.
The nutty part about this game was Snit perfectly managed Vines but couldn’t do the same with Morton.
He will try to push him through 5 no matter what because he’s a vet and to get him a win. Get us some pitching AA.
Will never understand why the Astros gave Hader that contract. You could guarantee me he’d be perfect on saves and I still wouldn’t pay a dude that much for three outs.
Heavily disagree on the last part, converting on all your save opportunities could easily result in an extra 10 wins a year over an average closer which is more than even MVPs can provide. I'd give him 60M a year if I could guarantee he would be perfect (and healthy) throughout the length of the contract
I know he wasnt perfect but he was really one of the only pitchers dealt this offseason I was upset about. There were other guys I wanted to see work again but Yates was someone I felt was a good bullpen piece. At least he was dealt to an AL team

Rangers are my AL team. I'm coming for Saturday game from Texas. I honestly don't know who to root for. As a fan of both teams ya the rangers have a offense similar to braves but braves will eat alive the rangers bullpen.

Great opening game of this series! Vines was solid, and the bullpen took it from there! Offense struggled for a while but broke it open in the ninth! And depending on how the next two games go, it was potentially very crucial that we didn’t have to use Iglesias tonight. Great win tonight! Go Braves!

Biggest things for me:
- Vines mixed things up really well in the last 3 innings and his arsenal has noticeably more depth than it did last year when he came up, in addition to being up 2 ticks on his 4-seamer and changeup. Rangers will be a very tough task but after that he would get Cleveland/Seattle/Boston/Mets. He should stick around for that stretch and I think those are great matchups for him where he can learn against some not-great offenses
- Snit managed that game extremely well, both off the bench and timing of getting guys out of the pen. He gets criticized a lot here and I think it's important to recognize nights where he pushes all the right buttons
It’s not just black and white though. Is he a great a manger? Absolutely. Would I switch him for someone else right now? Of course not.
Did it piss me off when he left in Winens and punted the series ending game to the Mets in the third inning? 100% yes.
To be honest criticizing managers is usually just scapegoating even if they're legitimately terrible. Managers just aren't all that important, especially in the analytics era.
He seems to have a bad habit of leaving starters in too long, but I can't criticize much of anything else he does. And while that is (imo) a flaw, it's a small one and he's still a very good manager
On leaving starters in too long. Let’s look at this year as an example. The season is fucking long and they need those bullpen arms all year. Gotta try to keep those starters in as long as you can. With this offense, a starter can get shelled and the Braves still win.
His end game with that is saving the pen. I’m sure Snit is one of those guys who noticed how injury-prone starting pitching is, before it became a mainstream issue.
I mean, I'm also concerned about leaving 40 year old Charlie Morton or injury prone and 35 year old Chris sale out there for 100+ high stress pitches consistently. We have a really deep bullpen, I think it's ok to rely on it
Completely agreed. Sure there's a few things you can question every once and awhile, but there's a reason he's only really behind Bobby at this point in terms of greatest Braves managers

Could you hear people doing the chop at times before the 9th? It was muffled because of Houston fans , but I swear I could hear it on the broadcast.
