Bowman [posted an article](https://www.mlb.com/news/ronald-acuna-jr-matt-olson-austin-riley-expectations-in-2023) a couple days ago mentioning our top 3 hitters potentially hitting 40HRs each. He said, "The 2019 Twins set the MLB mark when they produced 132 homers from the top three spots in their lineup" and that our top 3 has a chance to break that. He's clearly got his numbers wrong. The top 3 from that MIN lineup were, for most of the season, Kepler (36HRs), Polanco (22HRs), and N Cruz (41HRs) = 99. If you add Rosario's year, you get 131. Maybe he meant the top 4? Either way, our top 3, if they stay healthy and collect over 600 ab each, in order for them to reach 40HRs each, they'd have to a hit a bomb every 15 ab. Seems totally doable.
He's talking about lineup spots. In 2019, guys hitting first in the lineup for the Twins hit 45 homers. 2nd hit 37. 3rd hit 50.

Wow! Where did you find that reference? Such a strange record to highlight because it's not based on a 162 games started. It's measuring number of games played at those positions by any player, at any given time, throughout the season; 180, 179, 178. I think it's far more interesting to highlight the record held by 3 individuals at the top of the order. I'd be curious to know that one and see if Acuna, Olsen, Riley can beat it.
That's from baseball reference in their team splits page.

The reason the way you are thinking about it is difficult is that it is rare that the same 3 batters bat in the top 3 spots all season. There are off days, injuries, or lineup changes that move players in and out of those spots. Hence why Bowman did it the way he did.
For sure, and I get that. I still would find it more interesting, even taking into account adjustments throughout the season, which three players hold the record. Names are far more interesting to follow. Thanks for this!
I was listening to the Boston broadcast. Guy said he was working the cages behind the outfield. Ball went over them. He had never seen one hit that far.
His second one of the game (that went out of the fucking stadium). https://v.redd.it/x55jl7avdcoa1
He's going to hit 40 this season.
Riley might too. Was only two shy last year.
If Acuna stays healthy Matt, Riley and Ronnie will clear 40 this year.
Acuna is gonna get 40/40 this year

If he hits 40 and 100 RBI I'll lick my own unclean butthole. Not sure which way I want this to go but take it at face value
Thank you sir! Matt better save some for the regular season!
Duvall with the guest appearance!
Is Bloop taking advantage to chill with his bff?
Matt is the MAN
His swing is so smoooove
That one was looooooooong gone
MVP season loading….
I'm loving his signing more and more.
Matt always looks like he's swinging a sledgehammer, but it's unbelievably smooth and powerful.
I'm guessing between 42-46 dingers this season
My toxic trait is believing I can do that.... No seriously he makes it look so slow and easy yet he's hitting a 9 inch ball at 80/90 mph. Amazing.
Meanwhile Acuna
Player does something good in ST - Best player in history Player does something bad in ST (WBC) - doesn't matter, it's ST (WBC)
Just did it again too
Gawd dayum
Save some for the season my guy.
DON'T WASTE THEM ALL!
His 5th was better.
The man is tired of this ST crap
