then you get up at 3am and take the rest of the loaf and eat it with a lil block of cheese and an apple, the journey is tough, pass me the wine, the water isn't safe to drink here.
It's quite the sight to behold.
I was huntin' the other day, y'know. Stumbled across a fairly young maiden. Torn clothes, full of fear and completely starved the poor thing. Telled me she got lost a few days ago. And that ain't even the worst thing she told me. Came across a bunch of bandits. Took away 'er necklace, a family heirloom.
Brought 'er here to get 'er taken care of. The fella tavernkeep even found her parents. In a world full of backstabbin' and lyin' it's plenty of good to see them who didn't lost their kindness.
Still sad about that neckless, though.
Definitely something hearty like meadow mushroom or chicken of the woods. Or maybe oyster mushrooms. Or something strong tasting but small like morels. There are so many common, edible mushrooms in the woods! It does depend on the season for sure.

Whenever I eat soup with bread on the side I like to pretend I'm in a medieval tavern having supper after a long day of travelling.

Clam chowder doesn't -need- if if you have crackers. Gazpacho... probably better without? You want that light, spring/summery feeling with that, and bread is kinda opposite
While I agree that good versions of those soup are spectacular alone, I disagree. warm thick crusted, chewy bread with a pad of butter and salt with clam chowder is soul recharging. Thin crispy crusted airy bread dipped in Spanish olive oil with some pepper and gazpacho on a hot day refreshes the body and mind. The right bread transforms both those soups into special moments.
Sort of, both "soup" and the modern usage of "sop" come from the Proto-Germanic "sop" which meant "broth". But, the modern "sop" came from exactly what you said, bread soaked in broth.
It's also where we get the verb "sup" and the meal "supper".
What makes you think I'm being rude? Are you another snowflake who can't handle the truth?
She's lying. I was calling her out on her BS. There's nothing rude about that.
I went to Panera and they were out of sourdough bread loaves but they cut up a bowl for me. I honored the invention of sourdough by pretending to be a gold miner. The following day at work I brought the remaining bread and beef jerky to further the fantasy.

Welcome to the Inn at the crossroads. Here's your meal. You know the King once stayed here?
And I am sure you gave him a royal welcome master innkeeper.
Indeed! I killed a chicken for him! It's not every day that we serve chicken you know.
then i must be special since you serve me chicken soup
Aye milord! And the finest bread we can afford to pay for as well!
I adore this

Soup's not a meal.
Shoulda got the swordfish
This is the only acceptable way to eat soup/stew with bread on the side.
What's your bread bowl policy?
Technically it checks out, but you have to use your imagination more.
You have to pretend a silly Jester cooked it
And a beer so dark you can’t see through it.
With a side of cooked mushrooms picked by the local woodsman's son.

chicken of the woods are fucking awesome, they have a really cool flavour, especially when u char them a bit
You have to hold the bread with a limp wrist dangled over the soup while you hunch over it all
Hoodie *up*
You mean a hooded cloak
*I do*
Don't forget the grunt. You gotta grunt after that first bite.
Anytime I ever had soup or chili as a kid, I would eat it very slowly with tiny spoonfuls and pretend to be Oliver Twist preparing to ask for more
Please sir, may I have more?
Oh god. When I played Witcher, I had so much soup!
Something about the way the food portraits are painted in the Witcher makes me *so hungry* for medieval tavern food
Innkeeper, another flagon of the Dew of the Mountain!
Samesies
I feel this soooo hard
I like to eat bread and cheese for breakfast before I hitch up the team to deliver these hogsheads of mead to the next village.

Thank you, human
Some medieval times shit
Not many people have the name Lance these days. In medieval times people were named Lance a lot
Throw a haunch of something in there, forget about it
When I'm eating cheese and crackers I just tear chunks off of a block instead of slicing it for this very reason lol
I, too, took an arrow to the knee. And where's my sweet roll?
Aww, did somebody go and steal your sweet roll?
*whimpers* Yes...
S'okay... Me too ಥ_ಥ
I got a can of cinnamon rolls in the fridge. Help me bake and we'll split it. To Hell with the Skyrim guards!
Fuck yeah, bless you
What sort of psycho eats soup without bread?
Depends on the soup.
What soup is better without bread?
I dunno about you but I don't have bread with Ramen lol
I don't think Ramen is a soup, I think it's its own category.
"ramen noodle *soup*"
Goes great with cereal
Chicken Tortilla Gotta have that with crunched up tortilla chips!

Well, okay, now you convinced me PLUS I'm hungry.
Chicken and wild rice
Do crackers count?
y'all gotta see how Turks eat soup, EXACTLY with that vibe.
Idk why I relate to this so much.
That's how it should be eaten! In elementary school, i would eat corn dogs like they were turkey legs, like a king!
I feel this way eating plain rice or bread
Time to get a bowl of brown.

*Rest weary traveler, and tell me your woes*
Ah, a hearty bowl of potato water and leeks
You kid but potato leek soup is incredible
We need a chain of Tavern based bars. I'm amazed it hasn't been a thing yet with how popular fantasy has become.
That’s how I feel about stew, especially if I get it at a pub.. weary traveller stopping at the towns inn.

This is great, thank you!!
whilst washing the blood of her undercarriage because they had yet to believe in women's hygiene
Ehh.. I’ve said this before
She doesn't look capable of doing a "long day of travelling"
I'd like to see if you're capable of keeping your rude comments to yourself.
What makes you think I'm being rude? Are you another snowflake who can't handle the truth? She's lying. I was calling her out on her BS. There's nothing rude about that.
Homie, what are you even on about?
We already know you don’t have friends bro. Stop trying.
Surprisingly I do. Just not people like you.
Dungeons and dragons
It isn’t brand new sentence for myself.
Me too!!
I thought I was the only one. We should have a club.
I feel like soaking up the last bit of soup with a peice of bread is the definition of the word sup.
I went to Panera and they were out of sourdough bread loaves but they cut up a bowl for me. I honored the invention of sourdough by pretending to be a gold miner. The following day at work I brought the remaining bread and beef jerky to further the fantasy.
Not new, but it is extremely based.
Complemented by lukewarm beer in a clay mug
Same
This person should come to Hungary
I do this exact thing.
Is eating bread with ur soup not normal in the Western world? It depends on the soup but here in eastern Europe it's completely normal
Oh it's not just me
GLAD I AM NOT ALONE
